Thanks again lads for a very enjoyable night's racing, even if it didn't start out for me as expected. As you can work out, race time is very late this side of the Atlantic so I decided to take a bit of a power nap beforehand. Unfortunately, I ended up with more nap than power and I woke up just up just a couple of minutes before race time and in the rush I forgot I had been messing about in a kart the last time on track!
So I quickly changed to the S2K and waited in the pit for qualifying to begin and it was only when I started out on my qualy laps that I found the transmission had been changed to Auto because I had been out in the kart last!
I never drive in auto so it threw me big time. I think in GT5 you could change transmission on the fly in the quick options menu but it's not the case in GT6.
So it ended up I didn't really have my heart in it in race 1 and lost touch of the front runners pretty quicky. For Race 2 I was back with the car as I knew it and it was a much more entertaining drive. Even though I ended up towards the back of the field again I think I enjoyed a good battle with nearly everyone in the race.

I qualified 6th out of 11 in Race 1 which is about what I expected and about where I belong. Imagine my surprise, having dodged all the spinning S2000s along the way to find myself running a solid 2nd with 3 laps to go. Having run on the original set of tires I lost it in the last corner approaching lap 23, getting passed by 2 guys and finishing 4th. Anytime I finish higher than I qualify, it feels like a win. Race 2 found me driving around by myself a lot and making many more mistakes than I did in race 1. Without going into too much detail about what happened during the races, the thing that sticks in my mind the most is simply what a great bunch of courteous drivers this group is made up of. All of the close racing I did encounter, was respectful and patient. People (too many to mention) followed me for lap after lap waiting for the right time to make the pass rather than forcing the maneuver and any incidental contact was always followed by the other driver waiting and giving back the position. This is the way it's supposed to be and makes what might have been a frustrating race, an enjoyable event. Kudos to everyone in Division 2

Well, I would like to "brag" that I had pole position in both races... The whole "reverse grid" thing makes that especially embarrassing...
Especially when I waste the second pole by spinning... On corner 1... 30 seconds in...
Still, second race was way better for me, fought my way back up, was gaining like a second a lap on the leaders until the last two laps when things got slippery.
Still, wicked fun. Just need to work on that consistency.

If you feel like you are beginning, and learning, you are more than welcome to Join Division 3 from the start. Just if you tend to win a lot of races in Division 3, we will move you up to Division 2.

Well, I guess it isn't really "fixing it", but I've made sure that I have exclusive use of the internet during the race hours. I might be able to do that for Wednesday's practice too.

Just had a conversation with the wife and instead of replacing the busted up kayak they sent, I'm gonna buy another oZone cockpit and G27 with one of the brake mods. I'll be ordering it as soon as taxes come in around the beginning of Feb. Only stipulation was, I can't spend hours on it like before. Probably just run practice laps before qualifying to get used to the track. I can't wait!

Welcome Back Man! Good to Hear you will be back on the Grid, I can put you in Division 2 to Start off for your return, Color Combo and Number? going to take Your Number back from me? I think I was the only one not to change tires in the first race. I was down to 7 on all four tires by the end. Im guessing they all went in due to hard fighting between them. It did slow me down a bit though, i was about 1 second slower per lap by the end of the race.
2nd race i didnt change either, but it was down to 5 and 6 on my tires. Even though the total race time was slower, by about 10 seconds slower, my tires were worst due to unwanted drifts and slides, slowed me down and messed them up for me. Also with about 10 laps to go had a big slide that put my 'come back' to bed.
Time Lapse didnt help either. Before 1400 the tires for me were good, the second race, between 1400-1600, the tires had less grip, for me.

I have to say that i have been to many countries in my life time. If you want to see cars, UAE (Dubai and Abu Dhabi) is the place to be. I don't care what anyone says. Some are over the top, like a leather covered Nissan GT-R. I swear to god my jaw dropped. Thank god i was at a traffic light to pick it back up. So many supercars and what not, 2 years in it just felt normal.
