We have a regular White Hat over here! Haha.

I'm in tech myself... but on the IT side, so my job tends to consist of digging through hackers' un-commented code to find the actual problem and prove it isn't the hardware's fault. :P
Can't have the light without the dark ;)

Brilliant, guys, brilliant. Can't wait for the session tonight and tomorrow. -25C with the wind chill right now and there's a blizzard warning for an overnight storm. Probably (90%) not going to have school, so I'll have a lot of practice time.

If anyone can't find where to select their car number, select garage, and "Car Number" will be added to the bottom of the list on the left if you're able to change it with the selected car. See yas tonight for the preview, tomorrow for practice, Thurs for HST, Fri for FLEX, and Saturday for Enduro... Ermagerd. Sunday F1 anyone?

I'm hoping for the same (except, in my case work). Expecting up to a foot here (whats that... 30cm?) so I'm hoping they close the office tomorrow so I can just put in some laps on both Silverstone and back at Apricot Hill for WRS (thanks @Ph1sher for twice now doing the same track as something on WRS... should be the same line I'd been practicing all week last week. )

Almost the same thing i guess, DMZ gives less chance for error since all ports should be open after enabling it for your PS3's ip.

If you do DMZ it, make sure it is fully DMZ'd and don't allow it access to the rest of your home network (media computers and what have you)

Leaving it wide open to the world means basically leaving everything in your network wide open to the world if they can talk to each other.

The O.P is Now Updated with a Nicer Look (1st Page, 1st Post) What do you Turtles Think of it? 👍

That's sad for me. :( If it wasn't for my Grandma's computer, I would do that.

With most routers it is possible to isolate them, just know that you won't be able to connect to the rest of your network with your PS3 (if you did it right) as essentially the PS3 and everything else will be considered two separate networks.

I did it only for the ip of my ps3, in the router page you only add the ip you want DMZ enable. That means only my ps3 is open ?

Edit: The DMZ is one thing, setting a static ip address for your ps3 should already improve your connection.

If you can see other computers (like with my PS3 under various sections like video, pictures, etc... You can see my other computers listed) then if someone were to gain access to your PS3 which is essentially wide open to the world (if someone were to know your external IP address, your router is going to route external traffic to your PS3, whereas by default your router would say "I don't know who you're trying to reach" and just drop the packets) then they could easily gain access to the rest of your network.

I can do some quick testing tonight to try to see the easiest way to tell if you're isolated or not.

Still on my way home from work... Damn blizzard.

I'm lost. :D I'm smart, but not that smart. So am I still able to DMZ my PS3 with the computer connected to the router?

You should be able to unless you have some sort of weird router. Just need to be careful that when your router says "DMZ" it's actually isolating the system And not just opening it up to the world but still leaving it open to your network.

Generally, companies use DMZ's for their "front-line" servers, like email, proxies, etc... And then restrict the access those systems have to the real "internal" network that everyone's actual workstations are on.

hey @Socket68 check out this DMZ for you man, i know you have always had a little lag trouble since gt5, which we have got use to and find our ways around you  as well as @VrooM VrooM Check the DMZ out..might help you out.

I'll have to take a look. But as long as my connections are good and I ain't lagging like I'm teleporting, I'll be leaving my PS3 and my router only. Hint hint: this is wireless talk, right? :P
