I love the S3, its one of the few 4wd cars that you can really get the nose in the corner. Entering a corner it doesn't even feel like a 4wd car which is great!

Sorry for the outburst. :guilty: :odd:
I was all hopped up after the races & wasn't feeling like sleeping. Which is why I can't participate if i have to get up in the morning. I postponed my outing today because of the snow storm - which is why I raced last night.

I didn't get the chance to test the Audi S3 before racing it last night, so I was winging it.
I think part of the problem is that I spent some time on the Nurb in the TTS testing for this... And I think I was expecting it to handle quite differently than it did.

I also find 4wd cars in the game to be very annoying to drive.
But you're right Star, the car was certainly not disgustingly understeery like a 4wd Skyline  - and that IS a point in its favour big time.

I guess at 412pp I expected a little more oomph... I felt like I could've gotten a bit more power at that pp from an antique. LOL

And I was a little surprised that when it lost grip - it was TOTALITY. In other words, it was deceptive to me how far you could push the car, but then once over that threshold, the car just lost it completely & I became an embarrassing hazard for racefan & icewarden :(:( I thought it was surprisingly unforgiving.

The truth is had I tested the car, I might've used it at Laguna Seca or even at least Tsukuba. I hesitate to put 4wd on Laguna, because I worry about understeer. I had one particularly unpleasantly grueling lengthy race in an understeering Micra at Laguna Seca last year that put me off big time.

Also, to be fair, I shouldn't completely blame that Audi, since I was still feeling a little car sick from my sojourn on Spa in the Opel. :ill:  That wasn't very pleasant once my tires started wearing. I wore out my tires there before they warmed up!
I was envying Diabolic in the MR STRATOS (abs: on ;))... I think I would've found that much more pleasurable a drive.

I've got a teammate!

Cool! I usually run orange and black but black on black makes it easier to find my favorites.
Plus I have a lot of black colors and not too many orange colors left. I will have to stock up on Orange soon.

So 3/18 marks the night that someone proved it is possible to beat Nick;)

Congrats to Diabolicwyvern:bowdown: That means you can choose the PP for the next Monday event. It is currently 1650 and you can go +/- 25 or leave it as it is.

Starvsnr came in a close second:cheers: Feel free to choose the qualifying track.

Hey Joby,
We were discussing last night how the Nurb and Daytona were in the same group. What do you think about Daytona and High Speed Ring?

I second the idea of putting in HSR instead of Nurb. It seems like all the other tracks we run were chosen because they offer relatively wide pavement with plenty of passing zones, which is important for a series like this. Nurb has neither of those things, and HSR does.

I don't care if the nurb is kept or not. But an alternate proposal could be to add 4 more tracks, and allow the choices to be 1 out of 3 of each track choice. Then that could possibly lessen the chances/frequency of the nurb coming up. Just a thought.
I've also wondered if Nurb & Daytona were a fair match. Is the straight to curvy bits ratio really anything near the same? (That said I'm completely unsure how the matching of the track pairs was decided upon.)

One thing i have noticed, in a short period of time, it seems like Daytona is the starting track sort of often. I've wondered if people have chosen that as the starting race for the next week, not because they're huge fans of Daytona Road Course (is anyone? :odd:), but because it's the sure way to keep nurb out of the line up for the night.

I think they are paired up by average speed.

We were having a humorous chat during the last race about how Daytona so closely resembles the Nurburgring that it's uncanny :) So many similar features like...ummm...pavement.

Don't forget the infield lake. There has to be one in there somewhere.

I'm kidding!! I just wanted you guys to be less upset when I really pick Laguna, so Laguna it is! Again!
I figured you were. :P

But yeah, so that dials in the nurb (the possibility)... but you like the nurb, right?

I'm wondering about the people who've picked Daytona Road Course. Who were they? I'd like to know if they're the same people who are keen on dialing out the nurb... or if they are just truly huge Daytona Road Course fans. :mischievous: :sly:

I don't mind Nurb, I have managed to finish well there. I just have a hard time getting in a groove there since you only hit the same corner twice.

New line up for Saturday:

Starvsnr - RX-7 GT-X (FC) '90 (413) - 206 CC '01 (367) - Audi S3 '02 (412) - MR-S S Edition '99 (383) - Total 1575

The only reason I'd be disappointed with the pick of Laguna is that it dials out Motegi... which has been growing on me... though after this week in the Cosmo at all 4 motegi tracks, I may get Motegi-fatigue anyway.
I like Laguna Seca a lot. It's one track I hardly race all that much because of various reasons.
And actually the only track I really like in this series is Tskuba. But that said, I used to hate Tsukuba 2 years ago, so things change over time. Who knows, maybe in a couple of months I'll be this huge fan of Daytona Road Course & Spa. :odd:

Edit: I forgot - I really like Suzuka too... but we never go there because Spa  is so popular.

So this one doesn't count :odd:
The Overall results for the 2/18/13 1600 PP Performance Cap Race

The track order was:
1. Laguna Seca
2. Tsukuba
3. Spa
4. Road Course Daytona

The results:
1 - Diabolicwyvern - 59
2 - Nicktune - 52
3 - Dangerzone641 - 51

Oh...and I'd like to keep the performance at 1650.

Oh good Point. My memory is pretty bad but what do you expect from organic cells.

Lets keep up the discussion on tracks. I am not to keen to remove tracks instead I would like to add tracks.

The only thinking on the grouping of the tracks has to do with average speed.

Currently for the 8 tracks the average speed (for the fastest car with a PP around 410) of the tracks is:

Tsukuba 68.0 mph
Côte d'Azur 62.5 mph

Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca 76.3 mph
Twin Ring Motegi 75.9 mph

Spa 89.4 mph
Suzuka - 103.1 mph

Nurburgring Nordschleife 91.1 mph
Road Course - Daytona 102.9 mph

So really the Ring should be paired with Spa and Suzuka with Daytona.

If people could run some laps of various tracks in their favorite car around 410 PP and let me know the lap times we could see where how we could slot a few more tracks in.

Just a question... Is there a chance to bring up the pp levels to higher grounds? Put it around the 500's?
That will be up to the people that win. I had thought about doing a 1 time 2000PP race just to spice things up a bit

Joby, I saw my name up for this Saturday but I can't make it.

I will be racing Monday 3/25 and it sounds like it will be at Laguna and 1650pp, right?

You are correct about Mondays lineup. I will take you off the Saturday list.

I will test a car from each layout tonight on trial mountain reverse. I find that course, with the changes in elevation early and the consecutive corners late, tends to exaggerate any handling/power problems in cars.
