A big thanks to everyone that was able to make the Maintenance altered time for the inaugural S.N.A.I.L. Performance Cap Racing.

It sounds like update 2.11 has thrown all our hard work out the window in regards to our PP selections:yuck:

But on a positive note here are the results of the evening

1st place goes to Diabolicwyvern with 59pts. In my mind he won the night on the brilliant choice of the Nissan BluebirdRally (510) '69 at Tsukuba. Those Racing Hard Tires picked him some really good points. Diabolic would you like to pick the track that we will start the next event off with. You can choose Laguna, Tsukuba, Spa or Road Course Daytona.

2nd goes to Nicktune with 52pts. Nicks choice of a Nismo 270r '94 proved spectacular at Daytona punching way above its PP. Of course Nick would be fast even if you put him in a Mini. Speaking of which...

3rd goes to Dangerzone641 with 51pts. Only his choice of running a Mini cost him a higher position. Of course at least it was not a Mazda Carol;)

4 - Ice_Warden - 48
5 - Kendawg - 48
6 - ChuthuluGoat - 45
7 - Jobyone - 44
8 - Tezgm99 - 39
9 - WiiFreak - 33*
10 - Wolfsatz - 29*

*suffered discos or did not race in all races.

I will post a complete result table with cars and fast laps tomorrow.

I will go back to my spreadsheet and adjust the PP values I have. I guess it's a good thing I lagged on getting that info to Joby.

Had quick go at figuring out roughly what everyones PP would have been with the new (Old) PP numbers:

Diabolicwyvern - 1691
Nicktune - 1642
Dangerzone641 - 1664
Ice_Warden - 1640
Kendawg - 1636
ChuthuluGoat - 1652
Jobyone - 1643
Tezgm99 - 1655
WiiFreak - 1636
Wolfsatz - 1640

This also means the MGT site will be a bit more accurate since they have reverted to the old numbers. We will still compile our own accurate PP number spreadsheet.

Seeing as the guys with the highest adjusted PP ended up 1st and 3rd and the driver who came in second had the 6th highest PP but is one of the fastest driver in the league do you think we can leave the tires as they are for the next go? Or do you still think they played a big part in the results?

Also since the the Ruf has been readjusted do you still feel we need to ban it?

Wow I think I did pretty well now that I see the adjusted PP totals ;)

Leave the Ruf...I'll never pick it at 476PP that's for sure. Well never say never...but I highly doubt it ;)

Well I had fun last night. A few observations about my races.

Laguna was good. If I had not made a mistake on the corkscrew I think I could have had a good battle with Danger, Goat and Nick for most of the race.

Tsukuba. I had a great battle with Tez. The power advantage he had with the Megane made it hard to pass with my little MR2. I finally stuffed it up the inside:nervous:

Spa. Horrible start missing the shift from 1st to second so dropped down to last. From there things got better. I caught up to Nick and Diabolic that were having a good battle between them. I was impatient and tried a few moves that I thought were pretty questionable so gave position back. On watching the replays they were probably ok but I need to stay patient in the future. Once past them I was able to open it up and try to track down the mighty Ruf. That was not going to happen.

Daytona. An even worse start. Launched and went no where but sideways. First turn wall. First Hairpin Grass. Something was not right. Must be ont he wrong tires. Head into pits to fast and it does not allow me to change tires so I go through the pits and out for another lap. Manage to change tires from Comfort Hard to Sports hard:dunce: Finally run a few good laps but by that point I was nearly a lap down. At least I lapped the Carol:)

From my observations we definitely had some Rabbits and Turtles out front and at back respectively. But for the most point it seemed like we had mostly S.N.A.I.L.s in the middle doing what we love to do.

I would love feedback from anyone that took part.

It was a good fun night. If you were racing a guy with a pp close to yours then the racing was close. The higher pp's were gone and the lower pp's were way back. I had a couple of races that were good battles and a couple that no-one was around.
It was such a stratagy to figure out what car to run and what track to run the car at.

I didn't pick my cars until 4:00 on Monday. So with really no practice time and the race starting early. I was just wanting to finish mid pack at the end of the night. I look forward to next week and picking new cars. Man... I haven't said that in a long time in Snail....

Good job Jobyone, Are we still going to run on Monday?

If the RUF jumped I'm guessing that the Lancia may have gone up too.
Anyway, the Lancia is hard to drive, but if you're patient and nail the break points it can be a force to deal with; I would run it again at Tsukuba, as it was selected to run that track. I came to the lobby cold and with the kids still around, so that is a concentration buster; I was able to rescue 5th with 2 visits to the grass.

The Merc was a total bust, my objective was to be close to the Nismo which was also part of the 'possibles'; but the car doesn't handle very well with this tires, even the bus stop was a big challenge, the high weight make it for long break points 👎

Going back to the drawing board for the next edition.

Same here. The Mitsi was terrible at Spa with its handling and the GT-R topped out at mid 130's unless I was in the draft when it finally decided to change up a cog to 4th.

I had a blast! The discovery of cars I never gave a drive was great, and I had some close racing in all races. I would say no ban with the pp repaired. Also I would like to see all cars run on 1 compound determined by the average of the total pp(1600)/# cars(4). Right now that would be 400 pp so Sports Hard. Now off to pick a new line up.

I have updated the known PP list. If the entry has an nbi next to it that means "not broken in" so the final PP may be higher. Any car that has an entry in the Unconfirmed High PP will list the PP I have and the mileage in km. If anyone has a higher PP with less miles please let me know especially if the mileage is under 15k km as that will be max assuming the engine has a rebuild and it is on fresh oil.

My choice for starting track of the four would be Daytona.

(I would like to advocate for the addition of at least one track so that their is always a choice. Without choice by the end of the 2nd race, everyone can line up their last two cars accordingly. With choice, the winner of race 3 its just as important as winners 1 & 2.)

Thanks for the choice and I totally agree. That is why we will run with the following choices:

Tsukuba Circuit or Côte d'Azur
Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca or Twin Ring Motegi
Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps or Suzuka Circuit
Daytona Road Course or Nürburgring Nordschleife (not available for qualifying)

I imagine we will add tracks we just need to see where they fit in relation to speed.

Also the next running we will be using a single tire:

Sports Hard

I imagine this means our tire format is the following

0-1799 PP Cap - Sports Hards
1800-1999 PP Cap - Sports Mediums
2000+ PP Cap - Sports Softs

Wolf had so much fun he wants to do it again.... Tomorrow:) I have updated the second post so lets see how many we can get on such short notice.

This will happen in D2. So if you do not need to practice for Sunday Night post your lineup now!

It was nice to run earlier. We finished and I was able to watch sportcenter in its entirety before heading to bed an hour early!

New line up for the old/new pp

Celica TRD sport M FF 406 pp

Sileighty 98 FR 418 PP

MG TF160 MR 384 PP

Bora V6 4motion AWD 391 pp

total pp 1599

I also enjoyed the earlier time, although it only works for me Monday and Tuesday.

I need people to let me know time and days that work. There is no reason we can not run this whenever.

For anyone who can make it Wed lets focus on practicing using the new tracks so we can get some lap times. I doubt we will have a huge turnout but you never know.

I prefer to run earlier. Doesn't need to be much as early as yesterday, but I certainly wouldn't mind starting an hour earlier. (And I'd prefer it.)

I cannot make it tomorrow. My days to play are M-Tu-Thu.

The big problem with Wednesday is it's practice night for snail.

If you can pick a weeknight that isn't Friday or Wednesday then I'd be in.

I realize finding the ideal time is a pain in the rear. For me Thursday and Saturday are best. I feel Thursday is really a no go because I do not want to take away from escargot since that format seems to have the most overlap with this racing. Saturday would work for me most weeks and I feel the style of this event would not take people away from S.P.E.C. - Saturday's Premier Enduro Club although I do want to be careful to not double book if that is seen as an issue.

An earlier time slot worked great for me Monday but that was an odd day as I was working from home and was able to immediately hop on and race at 5:30 PST. Normally I would not have been home until almost 7.

If Mondays work for people then assuming some one will be race director then I suggest going for that and I will join when I can.

The other option is for someone to suggest a date and time and we start a signup sheet and gauge interest. That way it could run at different times and days and more people might get a chance to give it a go.

With all that being said I will try to get some practice time in tonight. I can not race Sunday so do not really need the Normal practice. I will test the new tracks and do a bit more tire testing. I must say I did not enjoy the Gathers Civic on Sports Hard tires. I feel that we are taking away from what the car was meant to be. I would much rather have a PP multiplier for race cars but that is just my opinion.

So if you do not need to practice for Sunday Night post your lineup now!

I'm still in shock (and mighty annoyed) that the FGT made it through....although I'm almost certain rounds 1 and 3 were swapped on Sunday and everyone forgot so it was assumed the Clio was round 1.

Yea I am amazed. I must say I with the lineup the last two weeks I really have not been interested in running them so the fact I can't do Sundays has not been as big a deal.

Plus I had a blast organizing this. I just need to find it a home and I will be happy.

Those rounds are a big reason why Ive yet to rejoin Sunday activity. A founding idea of Snail was close racing and when you allow folks to pick cars as they choose, you'll eventually stray from it. Outside of seasonal events, once you best the aspec fgt, I see no point to race the car again outside of wide open circuits or ovals.

I think a lot of people come in to the league used to running fast cars and think that will translate well to the S.N.A.I.L. format and it just does not. Sure it is fun to have the occasional fast car but the sweet spot seems to be cars around 400-500 PP. But I am happy to go even lower. Hence the Performance Cap idea.

Nic, wiifreak, myself, dabney and as couple others ran for A LONG time in this group. Since falling apart, Ive yet to have races as close and exciting on a consistent basis, but a couple months into SNAIL was very close.

That looks cool. Any thoughts on how we can keep the racing closer on Performance Cap racing without taking away from peoples choices?

You could say the cap cannot increase for more than, say, two weeks in a row?

So if you allow a 50PP increase each week (for arguments sake), it'll only get to 1700 before having to reduce for a week.
