You could limit the pp per race. Since you are varying the tracks to have grip tracks and speed tracks. You could say, for the grip tracks 400pp or below, and for speed tracks say 400pp or above. This would create closer racing I think.

That ruins the strategy of anyone who picks three fast cars and one mega slow one though, wouldn't it?

Yea I was thinking more ways to limit the Rabbits and Turtles. Say for 1600 PP cap the average is 400PP so do a min and max of say +- 15% so cars must be between 340-460PP but still average 400PP.

I ask, how does that strategy involve close racing? If someone picks three fast cars and one slow car, then guy 2 picks 4 cars around the same pp, not one race will be close. You could look at it a different way; say you impose a rule that says you need a 300 pp car. Then everyone will have a 300pp car and 3 high powered cars. That would be close racing also.

One other thing. I always knew that this idea would not inherently create close racing but I figured there would be a good chance that you would at least have some battles on track. That happened to me on every race except Daytona (stupid tires). But there were definitely car choices that were so far above or below the others that meant there was no chance they would be in a battle. Now if the person does not mind running laps (and remember the original idea is for 20 minute races) then I guess there is no harm. But I wonder if we used a upper and lower limit if this would bring the field closer together and make for a better on track experience.

I really like this league idea.

I like any day during the week except Friday. I work weekends very heavily.

I really like the idea of limiting rabbits and turtles. I was thinking of a strategy to have three fast cars and one slow one like a couple of people did last Monday. I hate to think of it that way so a restricitng the PP range of cars is a great idea. This will promote closer racing throughout the night.

The problem with letting people have a MUCH slower car in their lineup is that not everyone will choose to run their slower car at the same venue, So the racing will still be spread out.

So yes...having a min-max PP is a great idea.

I like the idea of having a PP multiplier for Race cars instead of running worse tires.

I agree about the FGT...outside the Aspec challenges with it...who needs it. In fact, I almost never run race cars period. Most of my personal tastes are in the 400-550 range.

Anyways...good series. If we could give it a permanent home on Monday I'd be in for sure. I could start as early as 9pm EST (but would prefer 10pm EST as usual).

Here is my line up as of now. I will practice this tonight.

283 - Ford Ka '01
428 - Audi TT Coupe Quatro '03
433 - Mugen S2000 '00
454 - Acura NSX '04

I would really like to give this series a shot as I have been trying to improve my virtual driving skills in anticipation of racing season being less than a month away. I don't think I am officially a SNAIL, but Zero can vouch for me. I've also raced with dangerzone and skills a few times in D2 practices.

I'll check out my garage after work today and come up with a line up.

Monday nights are fine for me at 9 or 10 EST. It's a little late with me starting work Mon-Sat at 5am but I can manage. If anyone ever wants to practice I'm normally on in the late afternoon after work, around 4 or 5.

Happy racing guys, I think you've got something here.

Yup, zer05ive and I keep trying to solicit koszak to race Sundays with SNAIL.

we would love to have you race with us. I will co-ordinte with zer0 about possible access to a S.N.A.I.L. lounge. We have not finalized a permanent night for this yet. I think I am going to try to run one this Saturday. Could you make a 10:00pm EST/7:00 PST race?

I have updated the second post to reflect that this Saturday will be a Race Night. Post your interest and lineups:)

Standard SNAIL time?
Unless people prefer a different time;)

we can run this as a:

1hr (10 minute races)
1.5hr (15 minute races)
2hr (20 minute races)

depending on what people would like to do.

I just wanted confirmation you would be able to make Saturday;) I will clear the participant list after each event so people will need to let me know there new improved lineups:)

Sat night @ 10 est is a great time for me. Might be a little weary from work but I got Sunday to sleep in. That Nissan Silva GTA went up 50+ pp:ouch:.

Saturdays are out for me.

Let me know when you decide on a permanent home (day and time) for this and I will go back to car selection and pick some new cars.

i dont have all my cars broken in, can someone inform me of if my proposed team below would fit under cap

citroen 2 cv FF

volkswagen golf VI R 4WD

BMW concept 1 series tii FR

NSX type S zero MR

Generally speaking weekends are bad for me.

I prefer to start at 10PM EST or later.

I would always do the 20 minute races, though I fail to see how 4x20+10=120, even with the addition of wasted time.

I think that getting rid of turtles and rabbits will take a lot of the strategy and fun out of the possibilities of this event.

I'm upset that I missed Monday, but it sounds like the PP was all whacky so I probably didn't actually miss much.

I doubt that I'll be there Saturday, but I may give it a shot.

the2armedmen, You should be under with that lineup. According to mgt you are about 40 under. Keep in mind that there figures are often lower than properly broken in cars. I will take a look at my garage tonight and see if I can get some valid PP for those cars.

I realize saturdays are not perfect. I would like to see this run on Mondays (or another day if more people could make it ) also but neither Wolf or I can commit to that. If someone wants to act as Monday Race Director then we should be able to get it set up and I am sure Wolf and I would be there if we can.

Yea my Math is not great. But 5+10+5+20+5+20+5+20+5+20=115 so I don't totally suck.

I do not want to get rid of the Rabbits/Turtles I just make sure they are in the same time zone. If someone runs a 200PP car then they could also run 3 nearly 470PP cars. I feel that might be pushing it a bit. I just want to make sure that we also enjoy the actual driving as much as possible. If we limited the lower PP to 340 and the upper to 460 for the current 1600PP cap would we really loose that much choice?

And we all had fun Monday since the PP was wacky for all of us. Of course we have all had to go back to the drawing board:crazy:
