That was some good racing Monday night for me anyway. As the pics show I had battles in 3 or 4 races. Each battle with different cars and drivetrains. That is CAP racing. How different drivetrain cars compete against each other.

Sorry Fox, I only had about 45 mins yesterday to get any racing in. I'll be on for hopefully a couple hours this afternoon if anyone wants to practice. Likely around 4pm-6pm?

Just post up here if your in a room. I'm currently home.. a little disgusted but i'm ready to race as I killed my SM Miata today..

Can someone check the numbers for the VX220 Turbo? Mine has 22k miles on it and, after an engine rebuild, it's 5PP down compared to the list (429 vs 434) :/

Yes, I know that. I am just surprised it has dropped that much...usually it's only 1 or 2 PP (case in point being my Audi A3 which has lost 1PP with also 22k miles on it).

Edit: tentative lineup:
FF - Honda CIVIC TYPE R '08 (420PP)
FR - Amuse S2000 Street Version '04 (447PP)
MR/RR - DMC DeLorean S2 '04 (412PP)
4WD - Audi A3 3.2 quattro '03 (430PP with 22k miles)
Total - 1709PP

Hope she's ok man.

fastfox400
hope everything goes well.

Thanks guys, she's staying overnight getting an IV. Some kind of stomach bug that kept her from holding down any food and she got dehydrated. We're hoping she will be fine and home later today.

Maybe you guys can help me, since my progression in getting faster in this game has kind of hit a wall. I'm struggling to find the "limit" of the cars I'm in and I'm starting to either drive way over or too slow. I've gotten down the driving lines, braking points and even when to hammer down out of the corners. My problem seems to be the in-between; not only mid-turn but also pedal positions. Finding the braking and throttle positioning between 0-100% is I think what I mean. I'm using a G27 and wheel-stand pro so I have much more feedback than a DS3 and I use ABS 1 and 5/5 brake balance (standard BB since I never tune). I also do not brake with my left foot, I think because I'm afraid I will start doing it in real life. Although my left foot is normally busy with the clutch...

Anyway, what is happening is I brake too much or too little and then too much or not enough throttle out of the turn. I know the rules, slow in and fast out, but every time I race online I'm slower in and slower out than the next guy. I never use brake and throttle at the same time (problem?) unless I'm heel-toe downshifting, which I only do when driving around for fun because I use the paddles when we cap race.

Is there a particular car that is easy to find the limit in that I could try? I've done the comfort medium/Miata combo on many tracks and it helps finding what I can and can't do, but as soon as I switch to another car I'm lost again. I've been running that heavy 4WD Legnum VR-4 (which is bad enough) and I'm just wondering if I'm making the situation worse. Any tips would be helpful here and I plan to put Monday's replays under a microscope once we have finished racing. Thanks in advance.

88GTA,

I may not be the best person around to offer advice but my thoughts are:

1. Switch the G27 to the ~670 degrees of revolution setting (instructions). This has really helped me. While I have not done any timed laps to prove that the feel is greatly improved. It has sped up the steering inputs and made it much easier to catch slides. I also find lowering the Force Feedback helped. I think I am running it at 5.

2. Run some high power cars on Comfort soft tires. This is something I used to do a lot on the Nurb. Hop in a Ruf BTR and run some laps. The car is a hand full on CS but it will teach you throttle control (and how to catch slides while doing 120mph). I also like this car because it does make you be patient on turn in. You really have to wait for the weight to start to transfer before you can get on the gas. I am sure there are plenty of other cars you could use the key is get one that is challenging.

3. If you are not already try to run the Sunday night SNAIL Spec racing (or at least the Thursday Practice). There is nothing like head to head in identical cars to teach you where you can improve.

my $.02

You must learn to brake with the left foot!

Once you get comfortable you will start to improve your times substantially.

The time you have moving the right foot. The inability to get both inputs is def holding you back.

Figure in ten turns you are .1 second coming off the brake back to the throttle. This would equate to a second of time lost. ;) (exagerated figured but surely you see what I'm saying)

Oh and as mentioned. Lower the FFB to 3-5 will help out too.

FFB helped me a lot. I went from 10 to 4. I gained almost a second, then combining that with left foot braking I picked up nearly .7 second. Thanks goes out to own who helped me get faster an more consistent.

I don't brake with my left foot simply because I need that foot to help keep the pedals from sliding on the tile floor. I do ok without left foot braking...I would start with throttle control. Get a feel for just lightly pressing the pedal as you track out until you can just mash it to the floor. A light, progressive throttle will keep the wheels from spinning. Once you've hit the brakes and started turn-in, just ease onto the throttle. Once you get a few laps in a particular combo you can quickly discern how much grip the car has at each corner and you know how much throttle it can take before wheel spin occurs.

Also, if you hear a lot of tire squealing then you are sliding or spinning your tires and losing time. Try to be smoother into and out of corners. If your front end is pushing then you are losing time.

Hard to put it all into words here...but try the throttle control thingy to learn when you need to be easy and when you can punch it. Then do the left foot braking. If I ever get a rig I will be able to do that as well.

Here's my monday layout:
FF: Honda Integra Type R '03 - 427pp
FR: BMW 330i '05 - 432pp
MR: Renault Clio Sport V6 24V - 434pp
AWD: Peogeut 205 T16 '85 - 414pp
Total: 1707 pp

Thanks guys. One thing I saw by watching a few videos is to try trailbraking. I think I'm coming to a turn and going full brake at the braking point, then coasting mid turn through the apex and then accelerating out. If I can get trailbraking down (and yea I will attempt the left foot brake) it should cut down on coasting through the corner. Or so my research tells me...

I will also try out the different steering and ffb settings which I have never touched. Thanks again gents.

Don't you just love it when you break in a car but it still says it has 0.0 miles on it and that it doesn't need an oil change yet?

Kinda scary to think how fast you could be if you had your pedals solid and introduced the left foot braking. Just keep using that left to hold pedals steady please. ;)
