Hey guys. I don't think it will happen very often (and have not been close to this happening) however with the increased interest for this particular season, there is a chance that we "may" have a more than 15 folks wanting to participate in KOQ for the first week. The current rules state that KOQ is for the first 15 drivers to enter the lobby however, I have another idea that will be in place should this happen.

The following update impacts Knock-Out Qualifying only.
  • If the KOQ lobby is full prior to 8:25pm and an Active Driver is trying to get in (that person MUST send me a msg via PSN that they cant get in PRIOR to 8:25pm), I will look at the current lap times (no earlier than 8:20pm) and the driver(s) with the fastest time(s) will then be locked into the Main Event races and asked to exit the KOQ lobby so that the waiting driver(s) can enter.
  • The above process will only be allowed for a max of 2 drivers trying to get into a full KOQ lobby prior to 8:25pm.
  • Anyone trying to get into a full KOQ lobby after 8:25pm will be considered too late for that week's race.

Again, this would only be required if more than 15 Active Drivers are trying to get into KOQ. In most weeks, Im not anticipating that this will come into play however I think this is a better option over the current "first come first serve" rule currently in place. Additionally, if this becomes a more common occurrence, I will cut the active driver list to a number less than 30 through normal attrition.

Please let me know if you have any questions/concerns about this update.

Thanks - Grim

Great idea. Fully support it. Was going to suggest a slight variation, then realized that this is very robust as is...

There are 10 spots theoretically locked in (if they all race in a given week). That leaves 20 remaining full timers competing for 6 spots in KOQ. If you lock in 5 people through your method, then there's only 15 people at maximum remaining in KOQ, fighting for the last spot (assuming you bump part timers if it really gets jammed). So in using your proposed method, you guarantee everyone will have a shot to make the main events, if they choose to show up.

That math should always work too, even if you have a non-confirmed top 10 show up for KOQ. Say 1 of the top 10 folks did that. So we'd have 9 main event locks, and a maximum of 21 fighting for 7 spots in KOQ. If all show up, you could confirm top 6 (and they leave one at a time), again leaving 15 of the 21 potential KOQ'ers trying to get into the lobby.

The only thing I'd suggest is that you set a time before which you wouldn't start doing this (to give the full room a chance to turn a few laps). Maybe just 10 mins after lobby opens, after which there is no waiting time needed. Only reason I say that - if 16 people show up at the very start and you confirm someone based on only 1 lap, that lap time may not be in the actual top 6 times for transfer at the end of KOQ.

The general consensus based on people I've talked to is I think most of us are just in awe of how nicely put together this series is between You and Brnt.. The videos, the spotters guide, how well organized it is, it's just really cool.

Just to clarify, only 2 guys can come in once the KOQ lobby is full. As for what time this would take place, I will wait until 8:20 - 8:25 to start asking the (up to 2) fastest times to step out to make room for others to try and qualify. Theres still a chance that 3 guys will not even be able to qualify but I think we are pretty safe (crosses fingers)

@brntguy - Another great video my friend. MANY thanks for the time you spend putting these together. The are great to watch!

I'll update the OP later tonight.

Hey Grim don't feel the need to update all the time to post every vid I put out. This one I did just to get pumped for this coming Wednesday. Glad you all take the time to watch and enjoy them. If there are people that can't watch the vid cuz it's blocked let me know I can throw it up on a private server so they can check it out that way.

Below are the top 10 (final standings from Season 2) in points with provisional entries into the Main Event. The below listed drivers need to confirm their intent to race next week at Indy Road Course by replying in this topic (no later than 8:00pm eastern on Race Day) with a simple post that they plan to race this week (Example - I plan to race this week). I will update the list accordingly.
  1. GrimGrnninGhost - CONFIRMED
  2. dragonwhisky
  3. Parcells2 - Will not race this week
  4. TEAMworkPLEASE
  5. erazer13
  6. brntguy - CONFIRMED
  7. Wardenclyffe - CONFIRMED
  8. CoachMK21 - CONFIRMED
  9. euclid58 - CONFIRMED
  10. jay-c2000 - CONFIRMED
All other drivers not in the top 10 will need to qualify for the race via the "Knock-Out Qualifying Procedure".
I will race this September 3rd 2014 after my 2 hours of Mitsubishi traffic haha. I'll definitely have a fan on my ps3 to stay cool through out the whole 4-5 hours ill be online lol.

Confirming for Sept. 3rd.

Will not be able to race on the 10th as I'm heading to Watkins Glen for a 2-day drivers school.
Please give me details on this. I am a quick 6 hour drive from Long Island to Watkins Glen. I went for the entire 6 Hours of Glen weekend. What kind of drivers school things do they have and what are the costs?

I live near Rochester, NY so it's about 2 hours from me. It's a HPDE with the PhoenixCMR group. I went last year with my daily driver (Pontiac G5) and loved it. So I got a 2003 350Z last fall and will be using that now. They run 3 groups, beginner, intermediate and advanced. I'll be in the intermediate group this time. It shows they have spots available still, but it was last updated on 8/7.

Season 3 Predictions
As we prepare for the kick off to Season 3, I was looking back at some of the statistics and was wondering how season 3 would shape up. Here are some of my predictions.

  • We will see 2 New race winners this season.
  • 4 Drivers will see the podium for the first time in their career.
  • To make the All Star race, you will have had to finish 2nd or better and even some of those drivers may not make the field.
  • We will see a new Individual Season champion and that person will win it on the final week of the season.
  • All four weeks will start with full 16 car grids.
  • Finally, this is my prediction for Season 3 Champion - dragonwhisky! (assuming this statement is true)
Those are my predictions, what are some of yours (same or different predictions)

Um, Nostradamus might want to look into the future. :P Season 2 is already in the books and I really don't see how dragonwhisky has much of a shot at the championship for that.

. We'll see how it goes though for Season 3 however.

What I'm shooting for is the team Championship anyway.

I fixed that typo. :banghead:
Team championship is going to be tough to predict for me as there are some strong teams and should be a great battle

Posting to confirm that I will be racing on Wednesday, assuming that GT6 co-operates. I tried to join in on last weeks practice session, but I kept getting a "Room is full" message even though that was clearly not the case  I'm hoping that I have no issues on Wednesday.

Strange you had that issue. Be sure to clear your Cache before trying to join the lobby. As for confirming, only the top ten need to confirm prior to the race. Everyone else just need to show up for KOQ in time to get some laps in.

Well @GGGMotorsport , this guys entry will totally bollox your prediction of who will be winning the DC. I've raced with this fellow on more than one occasion, and while I may have gotten better since then, I doubt he's regressed.

There are a number of drivers I have not seen on track yet and thought there might be a wild card in the mix

Still recovering from yesterdays Annual Labor Day party, damn I hate tequila. But should be feeling up to running some laps tonite. Bout what time were you thinking of having a lobby going Grim?
