What's in a name? Since joining this league I've seen all sorts of cool PSN ID's but I'm always curious how they came to be. I think it would be cool if we had some insight to some of your names and the meaning behind them , if any. Mine is pretty simple, it's my high school nickname (first name and "mang" as articulated by Al Pacino in the movie Scarface that came out in 1983) and the year I was born. Pretty boring but it is what it is:) One that I'm particularly curious about is @Die_Birdy_Die

Well mine you can see in my signature. But if you're not keen on the uptake, it's lyrics from a band. My favorite band. Dredg. The first band I "got into", learning the lyrics, who they were, following news, etc. They were my first good concert. Technically my first concert was Incubus at Nassau Coliseum with my gf at the time and it was boring. We were in the seats, not up close. Anyway...

"We live like penguins in the desert, why can't we live like tribes?" I always thought it had a nice meaning and was worded very mystically. I'm bad at making up PSN names so it was the only thing I could think of. I have no nicknames or anything like that. I think this sounds pretty cool. And it's easy to be called out on mic. Just say "Desert" or "Penguin" and I/you know who it is.

I forgot the numbers. Without numbers was taken. 88 for birth year looks weird and I didn't want top use a lot of numbers so my 4 digit address 2457 was out. Born on the 9th of November but just 9 looked weird too so I made it 09. More mechanical sounding and rolls off the tongue better when saying it.

"Tex" was my father's nickname, having been born in Texarkana, Texas, - the nickname got started at the Univ of Wisconsin, then in the Navy, and the rest of his life. He was a fullback and punter on the team - #36.
My brother drives Shifter Karts in Road Races in the Western States and also uses the number 36.
Dad passed away 3-17-2011.

Mine: CoachMK21 was given to me by one of my athletes when I coached Cross Country and Track & Field at a high school. Rather than call me Coach Krueger, she called me Coach MK (my initials). It stuck with the other athletes too. When I started coaching in college, it was just shortened to MK. I coached in HS for 3 years and in college for 7 years. The 21 is my favorite number, the number I wore in football and basketball in HS. I was #10 my freshman year and #3 my sophomore year in college for the football team. I was a kicker :)

My racing number is 9, which was the most common number my Dad used when he was racing, at places like the 24-hours at Daytona, Watkins Glen, Sebring 12 hour, etc. It's also the number I use in Autocross events and the number our ChumpCar team used last fall. But we've been given a permanent number this year, 194.

TLDR:
Coach - What I used to do
MK - My initials
21 - My favorite number

Very good idea!

"flip" is what my sister used to call me when we were little because she couldn't say "Felipe", and it kinda stuck between us.
When I moved to the U.S., same problem happened with Felipe so I started using it IRL and that was that.

JJ are just my last name initials.

Well that was boring... To make it less boring, I'm going to the hospital later today because my sister is having her first child and I'm the delivery room photographer. So in a way it all ties up together, I guess.

Awesome idea! I've always wondered about the origin of @USERID_77a23 :odd:

Great idea @TomMang_68!

I'm not super creative with forum and online names, so mine is a mashup. I played World of Warcraft way back in it's early days. I was curious to see what their generated names were like. Didn't like many of em, but I mashed two together to make Falango. I liked how it rolled off the tongue, and it's unique enough to be easily heard through a crowd of voices.

Is it a hard or soft "g"? Is it pronounced like "banjo" or like "Lana Lang" the Superman comic character?

This was a name i just thought of when i created my PSN username. Thought of the nickname since my favorite genre is racing.

Racing part of my nickname because i love racing games and my favorite genre among others on Playstation 3.
Champ i just thought of creating and consider myself to be one of the many clean drivers in online racing league and not just Champ to try to win a championship but Champ being on the track being respective towards other drivers on the track. Number 30 was to represent my age when i got the Metal Gear Solid 4 bundle back in 2008. For my nickname, as other drivers have called me as Champ, it has a nice ring to it.

Being online or in a forum didn't exist to me when I first registered. Mine is from my Company.
Aerolite Flight Services
ever heard of a place here in kansas city called airparts? they are less than a mile from my house in southern wyandotte county they have all kinds of tools and supplies you need to build aircraft

Car number 14: My favourite position when I played Rugby was on the right wing which is number 14. (Unlike some other sports, you can't choose a unique permanent number. Every position in Rugby has its own number). So, in every competiton I participate in, if there is a choice of number - it is 14.

Rednose - My first name is as famous as one of Santa's reindeer, but with a slightly different spelling and 58 is when I was born

My name is fairly boring: My first name, and an animal that means a lot to me/represents important things.
Interstingly enough, Connor means "Wolf Lover", and I didn't know that for a lonnnnng time.

Before this I used TKD-Wolf, TKD being TaeKwonDo. But I haven't been in practice for years so I dropped that several years ago.

@Rednose , I'm calling you Rudy forever now. (no, just kidding :) )
