For the first week of testing, we will be using 10 minute timed races and attempting to manually set the grid by parking in order on the track. This means that no warm up laps will be allowed at any time during the night. The only driving on the track in between races will be driving to you spot in line from pit road.
Lining up on track last night did not result in the intended consequence of setting the grid: Lining up just outside the pits was tried as well as completing 1 lap and then stopping in desired grid order. Neither worked.

This goes along with everything I have read and experienced so far. There doesn't appear to be a reliable method for setting the grid. There is also no option for a qualifying session with a time or lap limit in the game and no way to set a reverse grid race.

Looks like there are going to be some changes that will need to be implemented.

Was it a flying lap or did you just complete the out lap and then park in order after the start/finish line?

We just completed the outlap, crossed the start/finish line, then lined up in the correct (reverse grid). We didn’t actually complete a full qualifying lap for the 2nd race.

I suspect, and this is nothing more than a guess, that the fastest first and slowest first will only line the grid up based on a lap time set in practice before the race starts and it has to be a full flying lap. This is something that could be made to work if the game retains the times from race to race.

If everyone were to leave the pit lane and drive a lap, stopping just short of the start finish line, then have everyone cross the line at the same time (give or take a second or two). Everyone would then complete a lap while setting a gap to the person in front of them and complete their "flying" lap. This would have to be in the preset fastest first order for race 1.

If that process set the grid correctly for fastest first in race 1 and was retained and could be used to set slowest first in race two, that could be a useful process. It wouldn't be reverse grid based on previous race, but it would invert the field based on the last race's starting position.

Only way to find out if it works would be to test it.

Attention scorekeepers and data specialists for Sunday May 15: We will have a separate scoresheet that is not connected to anything. Please PM me your e-mail address associated with you Google Account so that I can give you access to do the inputs. We will use the score sheet for both scoring and data. We need to see how that goes......

"I have read the first post and would like to join,"

I’ve randomly participated in a few sessions and would like to sign up.
@Rory_Blake

Here's your official SNAIL Welcome Post!

Thanks for your interest!
Here's what you need to know (and do) in order to join SNAIL Racing League:

We run a clean league by enforcing a strict penalty system based on the SNAIL OLR (which is a modified version of the GTP OLR). We also expect all of our drivers to know and follow The Good Racecraft Guide. Please become versed in both if you aren't already. Once that is complete, please follow the steps below to complete your entry into the league:

1. You start a conversation and add zer05ive, JLBowler, nmcp1, Rednose58, MajorBlixem, SAMHAIN85, llNovall & Akzl298
as participants.

The conversation title should be "Request To Join".

2. SNAIL Administrators will respond with specific instructions on what you need to accomplish to join the SNAIL [Spec] Racing.

3. Place the following links (URLs) in the favorites (or bookmarks) in your web browser for quick reference. Please make every effort to read and understand the following links. Over the years a great deal of time and effort has gone into creating this league and we would like nothing more than to have you but we ask that you take the time and effort to do your homework. 99.9% of any question you may have about SNAIL can be found in the posts below.
4. You drive fast and clean on Sunday 👍

Again, the original post has everything you need to know about what to expect on Sunday night and what you will need to have completed in order to be competitive. If you have any questions, please feel free to post your question on the thread.

During the week we run a number of different events, we encourage all SNAILs to join as many as possible.
Welcome to SNAIL

I still need the D1 scorekeeper for tonight to send me an email address via PM so that I can allow access to the special score sheet for tonight.

Also, the D1 and D2 Data Specialists for entering the data after the green light is given.

Sorry but probably won’t be home in time tonight for at least the first races.

Let me vent here real quick that I hate spending money on certain cars and tires for said cars that I would never choose to have in my garage in the first place…especially when I only have $2mil to start with.

Ok…off to spend my last dime on a crappy car or two :)

Put me down for Scorekeeper D1
I used rb.....0@yahoo.com for the email address. PM me if I need to use another one.

Also to all:

Do you know you can make $825K in less than 20 minutes?

Complete 2 laps in grid order to get the “Qualy” time then start race? Same again next race reverse order? With 10min races this would be close to the old 15min per race time limit.

The drivers list for the April season will carry over to the testing nights for GT7. If you are already on the drivers list, you don't need to do anything to be added for the two GT7 test nights.

If you are not on the current drivers list but were an active driver during the February season on GT Sport then you will need to post in this thread that you wish to participate in the test nights. I already have your request @Xradkins

If you are an inactive or new driver, you will need wait until we finalize the new time trial for GT7 before we add any drivers. New and returning drivers will be added for GT7 after the test weeks if we are able to complete our move to GT7.

Specific settings will be announced as they are finalized for the first test night.

The use of TC is under discussion. No other assists are being considered for use. There are alot of things that will need to be tested so if you can get into the party chat for your division, it will be very helpful.
Can i participate tonigth?
