So this Sharkie girl is who I once knew as Miss Devious, right? Yes, I remember her very well... That flying Corvette!
Get your PS4, girl... We'll be here

Yes, Schmiggz, this "Sharkie" girl also goes by the name of "M1SS-D3V10US". ....I see you remember my Corvette.

Mopar is correct, I don't have a PS4 yet, but it's something I'll have to correct as some point.

I used to attend the Tuesday night Tutor sessions. Or was that on Thursdays? Either way you have amazing knowledge or racing and car physics, and you had a way to of breaking down a lap showing where speed was gained or lost.

I could but the amount of work behind that will be a few hours. Hundreds of pictures and liveries.
Well, I wish I could help, because your thread is beyond useful, but this editor isn't really helpful for that.

#84 Caddy for me, please.

Youi've already chosen the #50 car for the Cadillac bud. Plus, Schmiggz has actually already taken the #84 according to the thread

So I guess the back is where the action will be tonight, because I'm also going to go in with no laps run in about a week. This should be fun...

/checks combos, sees weather forecast, selects brown pants for night's racing

@Lessen, please give me
Ruf - Supreme Gold Metallic
Caddy - Dambreville #50

General Announcement_zpssunv3eju.jpg~original

IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT

Drivers,

Effective immediately, the following change to WRC policy shall be in affect. Verbage in RED is updated.

Livery Policy

Although livery assignment is not mandatory in WRC events, it is strongly encouraged.

Assigned liveries help drivers awareness of their situation and also ensures a field of competition that is visually striking for photography and videography.

Proper assigned liveries (with no duplicates in the field) also makes IR review much easier for the stewards.
  • Drivers are responsible for keeping track of what liveries are available each week via the applicable Livery Assignment post (post #2) and the entire WRC thread.
  • Drivers who wish to partake in assigned liveries shall post their choices either in the WRC thread or PSN WRC Community no later than 11pm EST Monday evenings & not before the combo announcement post on Saturdays. Any livery selection posts outside of the established period shall not be accepted. No other form of communication is acceptable.
  • Once a livery is chosen, it may not be changed before its respective car is voted off the lineup.
  • IMPORTANT: Drivers who choose NOT to assign specific liveries to themselves by the noted deadline or are found to have failed to use the liveries they have assigned to themselves shall:
    • forfeit the right to self-report any IR's upon themselves for any races in which proper livery assignment has not been regarded.
    • receive the maximum point penalty for any IR's incured (dependent on penalty level) in any races in which proper livery assignment has not been regarded.

In lamens terms, drivers may not choose liveries from Tuesday-Saturday when the new combos are announced.

I was a bit surprised to find out that there are quite a few of you racing in cockpit view, so I am going to give it a try as well. I like this view the best as it is the most realistic, but I race in hood view as I seem to be able to turn faster laps on average that way.
I tried out some different set ups yesterday. I narrowed the field of view so as to get closer to dash, even though this sometimes puts the left side mirror out of view, I moved my seat forward as well and all the way up. The biggest change, to help the immersed felling, was to bring the TV much closer. The problem here was that things were a bit blurry, (I use readers for all my close up activities), so I put my glasses on and holy crap what a difference! They are a bit strong so I'm going to pick up a pair of lower magnitude.
So all of this to say that if you see me doing some out of character moves, please be patient as it will be a whole new experience for me! I already missed the first night this season so don't have much to lose points wise. If anyone has some good advice from racing in cockpit view I am all ears. Thanks.

You won't be disappointed. I usually just fast forward at 2x after the first few laps are over (and slow it down every now and then when something fun happens) but I had to watch the whole thing in real time :) That's not happened in the last few years.

Having look left/right mapped to easily accessible buttons helps as well as the rear view mirror but there are still blind spots so the track map is useful. I use R2/L2 on the t300

I still drive above/behind the car. I just can't drive cockpit unless I'm in a real car. Tunnel vision is not my friend. Maybe if I had several monitors wrapping around my head...but I don't.

I switched into cockpit view when I started PCars and it's so much better in the enjoyment factor.
It is slower than hood or bumper view, but with the cool graphics of PCars (working steering wheel LCDs!), it's so worth it...

Well that was one of the better F1 races I've seen in a looong time.

It was a fantastic race. This season has been brilliant.

Shoot. I forgot to record the F1 race. Is there anywhere online I can find it?
You can find it here in a couple of hours. It is worth it.

Getting an appropriate FOV is vital for the most immersive experience. FOV not only changes how much you see, but also the entire screen's relative accuracy. The sense of speed can get all screwy which may lead to difficulties judging distance/depth. Obviously this is super important, especially when chasing another car closely. You can do the hard math to determine the most appropriate FOV for your particular gaming situation, that being the size of your monitor and the distance at which you sit from it. Although, in many cases most people probably run it incorrectly. This is typically because most of us aren't using gigantic screens only a couple feet away and setting the FOV "properly" is awkward because general vision is significantly limited, which then is also unrealistic. Finding the sweet spot if you're using an "undersized" monitor will just be a matter of preference.
