Using my specs, my FOV would be 29.74* The game only allows down to 35. In helmet cam (w/o the helmet) That looks like this...
I typically have always set my FOV to max at 85. Putting the same car on nearly the same point of the track it looks like this...
The correct FOV looks more like bumper cam than an interior view except for seeing the drivers hands (which are amazingly quite scale if I reach out toward my t.v. The lower pic however seems more realistic because I can see things in the car that I expect to see in real life via my peripheral vision. I could prbably tighten it up slightly as I might not see that much headliner in the car, but I personally opt for the more "innacurate" FOV of 85.
Interestingly enough, the website's author has this to say in the disclaimer... "If your monitor is more than 3ft (~1M) away or you have only a single small monitor (<27" diagonal) or both, then FOV is not the first thing you should address to enhance your experience, immersion and enjoyment."
I wholeheartedly agree. I am currently using a 16:9 26" t.v. My eyes are almost exactly 24" away from the screen when I play.
I've been thinking of turning the helmet but in most cars I cannot see the tach, which drives me nuts. If I could affix my phone to the bottom of my t.v. screen somehow I could recreate that with Dash.
Never tried that looks interesting. Question for time and weather progression they are both at x10?
