So, tried out the Cobra, I have a quick question, will chromeline be allowed or no, and are all 4 brakes on the car drum?

Race Recap

Wow! Last nights races were very exciting with several close finishes and several point ties. Congratulations to chocochocochip5 and SprintCupChamp1 for their race wins! SprintCupChamp1 went on the finish 1st overall with chocochocochip5 taking 2nd. Great driving guys! lightningdf22b1 deserves an honorable mention for his 2nd Place finish in Race 2 after finishing in 6th in Race 1 for 3rd Place overall.

Two good race finishes for DolphDrago earned him a 4th Place finish. Although BionicDerp finished 3rd in Race 1 his 7th Place finish in Race 2 meant 5th Place overall. Psycho-Tuber (me) had two respectable races just edging out gears1000, who also had (you guessed it) 2 respectable races, in a Tie Breaker to take 6th Place.

mbobb1969 is showing good speed. If he gets a chance to practice he will certainly start moving up in the standings. mbobb1969 finished in 8th Place overall. The exact same thing could be said about G_Parrilla who ended up in 9th Place overall taking a three way Tie Breaker with both MLPSilverWing and Titanzdude. Oh, what might have been. MLPSilverWing finished in 10th Place overall after a 4th Place finish in Race 1. His daring no pit strategy didn't get the chance to prove itself again in Race 2 because of technical difficulties (he got disconnected). Titanzdude finished 11th.

kelrick85 and GTP_tzracer never gave up when facing a challenge. I expect to see steady improvement from them. kelrick85 and GTP_tzracer finished both races, earning themselves 12th and 13th Place respectively in another Tie Breaker. BustedFoSho, nascarfan1400, and Progar08 did not get along with the McLaren at all taking 14th, 15th, and 16th respectively.

Thoughts

The FLEX RACING SERIES is a challenging series. We do not shy away from tough races. Endurance races by their very nature are tough because they challenge your driving ability, tactical skill, and mental stamina. All of that played out in last nights races. If we are racing a car you hate, practice until you love it. If we are racing on a track you don't like, practice until you like it. Embrace the challenge and remember, race the race, don't race the car.

so as i said in the lobby, i had trouble with my gas pedal randomly showing input while hitting the brake. the problem was in the potentiometer, one of the wiper contacts was touching the other's ring, basically causing a short. well, apparently the T500RS potentiometers are some unique type that i can't find anywhere, so i bent the wiper with a screw driver and called it a day. Should be a little easier going into corners now not using gas while on the brake, lol.

Hey Mitchman9, thank you for joining the TURTLE RACING LEAGUE - FLEX RACING SERIES. I'll get you added to the Drivers List and send you the PSN FR you will need after the Cowboys game. Welcome to the TURTLE RACING LEAGUE - FLEX RACING SERIES!

Good racing last night guys! Like I said before, some guys were flying and doing some Fangio stuff while that Parrilla dude missed the pit entry twice... Who invites those noobs?

Awesome racing last night, guys! Silver, I still don't know how in the world you ran that entire race 1 without pitting. I thought for sure I would be able to get you. Such a close finish for 4th.

As for the 2nd race...So. Much. Fun. :dopey: During the first stint, I had a grin on my face the entire time...and I was running 8th! The first lap was nuts, and then 3rd through 8th had a crazy battle until the pit stops started. I pitted a lap or two later than the other guys around me trying to get out of the traffic and avoid congestion on pit road (and it left me with fresher tires at the end to boot). There were a lot of position changes between 2nd and 6th during that second stint (gears, psycho, choco, lightning, me) until gears, lightning, and I broke away. Lightning and I managed to squeeze by gears on the final lap, but I couldn't quite get around lightning before the finish. Meanwhile, Psycho and Choco were going at it hard not far behind us. Two very exciting races. Two very exciting finishes.

Congrats to Sprint on his win again! Had he known he had to run the last lap, he would have swept the evening events. I'm sure Choco didn't mind the first race finish though.

Couldn't get in the room, it was full. I was a few minutes late anyway and i'm tired, so it's probably for the best.

Enjoy the racing!
Mic, it's too bad you got there a little bit late. I honestly didn't expect we'd have a full room (I thought 14 people last week was a lot!). If you'd been able to get on the thread a touch sooner, we could have split into two rooms. Sorry you didn't get to race with us. :(
So, tried out the Cobra, I have a quick question, will chromeline be allowed or no, and are all 4 brakes on the car drum?
No chromelines are allowed because they are tuned or have more power (or both). I can't remember exactly. :boggled:

I'm impressed at how well you ran last night, despite your pedal issues. You nudged me out for an overall podium spot. :P

Welcome to TRL, mitchman! We look forward to racing with you. 👍
I think I ran a 2.05.4, but not sure.
I took a picture of the qualifying results. You ran 2:05.614. There was a logjam in the 2:08 area between quite a few of us. Gears qualified over Parilla by only .001 seconds.

Sorry for the long post, guys. :D Also, another nice write up and quick results there Psycho. :sly:

:D Thanks, Dolph. That was a close one. I remember my heart was thumping when we came that close. Such a great race. I don't think I could do that again. :)

Great post Dolph. Very intense racing. Me sweated. :D

Great racing tonight everyone! I'm still awfull at endurance racing but love the competition that ensues every time I race with my fellow Turtles. It was awesome to see the old gang racing again and some new racers as well. Thank you everyone.

Endurance racing is great. It is the most realistic because you have to manage tires, fuel, pit, and race strategy. It is also more forgiving. In a short race one mistake and it's over. In a longer race you have time to make up for your mistake and it also increases the odds that other drivers will make them as well. Presto, you are right back in the race just like in real life racing.

Congrats to the winners.
Great racing once again thanks for the fun.
At some point I will get some practice time during the week prior to the race. We shall see if it helps at all.

Cobra's in the sand

Will be making smoke for an hour or so

EdIt: all ye who get sand on your tires, abandon all hope.

I learned to drift in this car on GT5... :3

Random local news, gas here is going to be $1/L (or less). That's about $3.25/Gal. (I think.)

Going to cost under 40 to fill the Malibu. o_o

For me the hardest part is the level of concentration that is required. :( Coupled with the onslaught of distractions created by my wife & kids:mad: my lap times steadily decline
and Flex races aren't even that long. Gawd help me if we ever run 90 or 120 minutes but after each race I feel accomplished & a lil bit faster, even when I finish last. :dopey: :gtpflag:

I managed a 1:22.xxx last night after about 30 laps of inconsistency. If you so much as dust the tires with sand, that cobra is unforgiving. This race is going to be fun! I am going in expecting several tire changes and spins, so if I make it beyond 16th this round, I will be excited.

We have the Daytona 500 coming up in February. After that, even the 90 minute enduros will feel short. I have a Turtle Beach Headset so it's like what wife, kids, and dog. hint
