I'm not sure what options will be available to replay game data, but here's to hoping that it's of some use for tuning. The 2-D G-meter looks nice, hopefully we can get numbers from it and/or use it to analyse certain portions of the lap.

Would be nice to have the full monty of camber, ride height etc displayed like in Forza, but I'll take what I can get.

Fingers crossed,

Bread

Sorry if I missed this, but is there any maintenance scheduled for tonight? As to give a rough time estimate of when I can expect to log on and perhaps see the update.

What's stopping you from using this feature if they add a track near you? You don't need to be a racing driver to own a Scion FR-S or a Subaru BRZ. This feature is meant of both us and racing drivers. If you wanted to you could take your FRS or BRZ to a track and use this feature like any racing driver.

You are either seriously misreading the info we're getting or you're being purposefully obtuse.

Which would cost you money to do. Last time I knew, track days weren't free. Just another case in point of this only being able to be used by a select few as I would guess most of us average gamers don't have money to throw around for a day at the track. I live by MIS (Michigan International Speedway) and I know it costs a good bit of money to be able to run the track with your own car.

Well, here's my above reply without the jumping down your throat part.

If it's ready, and manufacturers have invested in this thing with PD, they have to release it by the June 2 deadline. And as Imari speculates, this may be all they have to give us for a few weeks. A few more weeks of nothing will just make some on the nets angrier.

Respectfully, I'm not sure why you quoted that part. It wasn't directed towards you. Unless I'm missing something, but it's not important.

If this is part of their master plan for the game I suppose we are suppose to put faith that it's the right decision. I guess my problem is I see things black and white, it is or isn't.

Let me be clear here, I'm have not and continue to not be part of the "this is useless" group. It's not useless and it is indeed neat stuff, but my point has been this GPS stuff is not easily accessible to everyone. If building GT7 is what is actually happening, then GT6 should have never happened and should have been released on PS4. What's another year or so to wait, just like accessibility for the GPS stuff.

No I'm not misreading anything nor being obtuse. What is stopping me is not owning a Scion FR-S or a Subaru BRZ. Not everyone can go to their local dealer and drop cash for one, insure, register and so on for GPS data.

Since this is such a hot piece of technology that so many people want, Toyota/Subaru/Scion should donate a few cars at all the GT6 real life tracks current and future world wide. Then you are 100% right, no excuses for why people can't use it. People can go, pay a reasonable fee to use the car, and get a thumb drive as part of your fee with YOUR data on it.

Now the only issue is getting to the track. But no matter what if only, for instance here in the USA, Indy Speedway, Daytona, Laguna Seca and Willow Springs are the only tracks in GT6, pick one and make it a mini vacation. There's more than just race tracks in the 4 locations listed. Call it once in a life time then. Pain in the butt, sure. Unrealistic, not anymore. If it's not in game, then clearly don't go there. Just a thought to be fair for ALL involved. Fair or silly?

It's probably best to wait and see come Monday/Tuesday how exactly this is all going to work. Just based on written information is not enough. Hands-on is best sometimes.

EDIT:

You beat me to it. I hadn't even considered the cost of track days. Is it that bad normally??

I'm waiting for it. Why? Glad you asked! Everyone is going to wait for an update to pop tomorrow. And absolutely nothing happens.

I'm waiting for it that exact thing to happen.

Well, on top of paying the fees to the track, at minimum, other fees you will incur...
...tires, fuel, and most likely brake pads, not to mention the wear & tear on other parts.

These costs will vary in accordance with kind of vehicle tracked, type of tires, and # of laps run.
And of course, there is always the potential financial risk of un-forseen incidents. :sly:

Suffice to say, a hard track day, can easily amount to the same cost as a good sim rig.
A close relative of mine tracks at Willow Springs, and Button Willow.

OT Tidbit:
On track days, Streets of Willow are often run Counter Clock Wise.
Hopefully that config. will come some day to GT6 via update.

A friend of mine paid $350.00 (that was just the entry fee) to run his Viper there about 6 years ago. That may not sound like a lot to some people, but considering the economy here in Michigan, its not cheap. Plus, for me personally, I'd never be able to afford it as I am on a fixed income. (disability) So yea, this whole thing (pending update) just sounds like a feature only to be utilized by a few. Hoping there's more to it, but I guess we'll just have to wait and see. Not going to get my feathers too ruffled yet until after I see exactly what this is.

That's about what it costs in Australia as well, and probably another $100 or so of wear on your brakes/tyres/oil/etc.

It's a rich boys game still if you want to do it more than a couple times a year.

This is what's causing my confusion.

We are supposed to be getting 'gps data logger' functionality for a select few real world cars on a select few real world locations. This data would obviously include 'telemetry', but this is all talking about the 'gps data logger' which is designed for real world cars.

I haven't seen anything official suggesting that it will bring back the normal telemetry screen from gt5, but this is why I'm trying to gain some clarification.
It's not select few cars, it's just one car, the gazoo race car.

Costs here in the US? About 250 to take your own car (HPD track day), 500 to register for races that weekend, between 2-5k for a car and crew...

Owning your own car is best and having a mechanic for 2-300 a race weekend for crew, then you need other friends in both very high, and very low places...

Minus the 10-25k you need in reserve if you total your car.

And that's about as cheap as you can get and be in a real sanctioned race with SCCA or NASA.

Disregard...wrong thread. :dunce:

Just to be clear, is this update supposed to actually happen tonight or is it tomorrow night. I'm in the U.S., EST.

I'd imagine sometime in the next twelve hours or so. The "announcement" was in Japanese, so I'd think it'd be sometime on the 7th, Japanese time.
