Ok people, time for one big post. You remember the last time I posted stuff, when I showed you the cars I brought from Slybuga here in GTP. It's been a few months since and I've been on the chase. This post is gonna be big.
First, These are all "projects" and/or donors of wheels, engines, interiors and the like. These have come from E-Bay lots or from flea markets alike. Relevant stuff here is of course the redline tow truck, the SWAT Scene Machine, the orange Baja Breaker, the 1:43 Corgi 240Z, the Fairmont, the Majorette Escort, and specially the Mexico-made Rampage pickup with no tires. Stuff in the very front rows are almost all of them donors, and most of them are already in pieces or tire-less now.
Supermarket stuff. Yep, I know the black Reventon is repeat. The extra Hakosuka is a donor of it's rollcaged, LHD interior for a track Kenmeri on Work Equip 01s I'm doing right now. The Hako will receive the Kenmeri's interior and will see duty as a Bosozoku-streeter. Notice TH Chevelle and Tucker and Speed Machines Citroen.
Haven't gotten any new Matchboxes lately, and the 2012 line is nowhere to be found in here, yet. It sucks.
Now for the internet stuff. First, E-Bay lots. Lots and lots, lol.
However, the first E-Bay thing I want to show you are these:
Yup, I bought some axle lots! There are 5, 7 and "lace" (BBS-style) wheels in here, along with about 30 rubber-tire axles; all four lots were bought off the same seller, so they were a steal at $10 including shipping.
here are the rubber ones:
And here is how they rest right now:
Never again will I open a car for "normal" wheels. I've already started using these in several projects that will make their way in here eventually, or that you have seen already, like the orange GTO or the Motormax 1940 Ford panel truck. What's better, I've recently bought yet another axle lot from the same guy! It was like $4 for 40 axles, including redlines. Will show you when they arrive.
Now, for the cars!
Here we have a Color Changer tanker truck, the all-metal Oshkosh snow plow, AT FREAKING LAST the School Bus, the Zender Fact 4 with chrome HO wheels, which was the one I had when I was a little lad, so I am VERY HAPPY to have it back. Two variations of the Recue Ranger that I was missing, a red 65 Mustang with no side tampos (real or fake? Wyvern, do you know something?), and oddly for me, 4 McDonalds cars. The purple Shadow Jet came in with no windshield but what would you know, I had one lying around in the parts box. The top piece here easily is the red Mirada stock car with blackwalls.
Big haul of construction equipment right here, most of which is France-made Majorette with the exception of a few Lesneys. Standouts here are the 55 Chevy with humongous rear tires at the back, which is part of a series that I don't remember how it was called (Wyvern, again?), you could put in the enormous rear meats and the engine would poke out. Cool. Other stand-outs are the real-deal 60s Lesney Ferrari Sharknose F1 car, the Chrome Jaguar, the Ertl Boss Hoss Cadillac and the mini-Revell 300 SL put-together car.
However, the real standout for me was this:
When I picked it up, I was amazed to say the least when I read what was under it:
Made in Mexico!!! So I started searching. Turns out it is a Ground Shaker, a Zizzler type Hot Wheels from the 1970s which was a line of tractors, much in the spirit of the Revvers or the redline-era train. It was all clear then because I know that Cipsa, the company that made redlines in here -which are now extremely rare and expensive- also made Zizzlers and such stuff but for the export market. It's not uncommon to find Zizzlers around the entire globe that say made in Mexico under them. The normal redlines were the ones they made for the local market only.
Having said that, this thing is pretty incomplete, it lacks the tracks and the shovel, but in freak value alone, I'm keeping it.
Lets keep on it. Another part of the E-Bay lots:
This next picture is an absolute delight... for me anyway lol. Notice the original, 60s (maybe 50s) Lesneys, the horse-bus (yes, incomplete and tattered, but it's there), the orange cement truck, the steam roller and the Land Rover 6-axle fire truck. Also of interest are Hong Kong variation (ribbed top) of the yellow Thunder Roller cabover, that black Porsche with gold wheels which I had never seen, the Porsche 928 on black walls, a difficult to find variation, the white SVO Mustang which is also difficult to grab, and the black M3 with chrome HO wheels. The red truck without a box will be turned into a ramp truck.
This picture has several stand-out cars, but I think the really hardcore one is the 1995 Treasure Hunt Oldsmobile 442 in blue. When I was checking out the lot pictures, I could barely make it out amongst several "trash" cars (I mean, newish, used up stuff that I already sold). I was afraid it wasn't the real deal, because it could also be the
2001 version, which is a "tribute car" to that first 95 TH, and of course much less valuable. I gambled it and bought the entire 40+ car lot for 12 dollars haha. I was right, it was real. So I'm VERY happy because these cars were a REAL treasure hunt, being limited to 5,000 units worldwide.
Other fantastic cars in here are the purple Turbo Heater aside the TH, a very rare car which is MINT, the China variation of the Ambulance, the white Ramp Truck which I had never seen, the mint Crack-Ups cop car, FINALLY the red 57 Testa -Rossa with basic wheels and yet another Dragstrip Demons funny car. Almost there.
Of course, many MANY more cars came in the E-Bay lots, but those are already for sale (or sold) to help finance more cars. The ones I showed you are the ones I kept for my personal collection.
Now here are the ones I got at the recent Hot Wheels Mexico Club get together last weekend; standouts are obviously the CM's Japan rally cars, which are incredibly detailed and were obtained in trades for some stuff with a friend. The same deal yielded both JL Funny Cars, changed for a $TH Rat Bomb. The Matchbox 34 Ford will be turned into a custom hot rod, and the HW Garage 1959 Corvette race car is now in pieces, because I bought it for it's Minilite-style wheels. And I could not resist the Greenlight 1970 Chevy pickup from the Up in Flames series.
Also, I brought something invaluable form that reunion: knowledge. Can you see the bent axle at the very front? Yep, I FINALLY learned how to narrow axles!!!! That way I don't have to cut an axle everytime I need to make it narrower. I've been practicing, will show you the results shortly. Wyvern, your Supra will
really benefit from this.
So, enough for today. This was gonna be an ENORMOUS post with all the fleamarket trash I've acquired since last time too, but I realized that:
a) There were several cars missing individual pictures, and;
b) There were several cars that, when I took their pictures, were dirty and filthy to no end.
So that post will come tomorrow (I already have half of it written down lol until I realized the above said). In the meantime, enjoy. And if any of you want a pic of any car, let me know now that they're more or less at hand.
OH and of course, here are the F1 cars for At1ness; only that, since last time, the blue and white McLaren has been replaced by a Tomica Tyrrel P34, because the McLaren did not have a real livery (as far as I'm aware) and as such is the easiest and most common Tomica F1, whereas the Tyrrel is pretty hard to find in decent shape.
First, the Polistil Shadow:
This car is still one of the highlights in my collection. It also gave me a stupendous idea with it's wheels, which I'll be trying to replicate for a long-tailed Moby Dick Porsche I have awaiting restoration.
Then, the Tomica McLaren with real livery:
And then the Tomica Tyrrel, which I traded with my nephew for idontrememberwhat.
Tomorrow, the really hardcore stuff, people.
