Well, I just got back from Walmart after work and bought myself 8 new hotwheels cars and one matchbox car (they barely had any for matchbox..). Planning to get some pictures by tomorrow. Also, how "special" is the Back To the Future Delorean in the hotwheels line-up? >_>

But it's like $1 versus $5 ~ $10! And I don't really want to support the scalping business either.

I support this.

1600, whatcha gonna do to the Catterham?

Want to do an open hood with an engine, but cutting out the hood will mean the front rivet will no longer function. Will have to figure something out. May just JB weld it back together when I'm 100% finished.

Also, how "special" is the Back To the Future Delorean in the hotwheels line-up? >_>

Somewhat, but it's not super rare. I passed up a couple of them yesterday.

I really need to learn to control myself. Like I step into E-Bay and see a "suggestion" right away, click it and it's two minutes to end; I'm now 32 bucks poorer. I hate this.

On the other side, freaking finally the white Auburn is in teh box! Along other 43 cars. And a case. A steal. But argh, my wallet.

Cano: Another contributor to the American economy.

Thank you Cano! You are really an American, aren't you?

quite sad

I know it is. :guilty:

Aside from the T-Hunt though, the only other cars I've bought from E-bay were ones that are almost impossible to find down here. (Ken Block Fiesta and Vintage Racing Datsun 510)

Pro tip: Don't let Cano tell you what to do if you're short on money.

Hello, Medigoflame, and welcome to the party.
Tell your parents you're old enough now to act like a kid, ok? Actually, just the other day I came across a boxed 1/32 (or thereabouts, not entirely sure) red Ferrari that stated clearly on it that it was limited to 'Adult Collectors'. The Generale probably knows what I'm talking about. (Yes, there is a Generale here who hands out medals for sufficiently cuss-worthy finds that should be photographed and properly displayed with suitable gloating.
The alternative could result in executions at dawn.
So . . . lots of pics needed of these childhood treasures you speak of.)

Now that you've taken it up again, enjoy, just hold on to your wallet as you start taking a closer look at what you've been missing!

Thanks for joining in - hope to see more - stories, and pix.

Yup no double clutching granny shifting with this car.

Let me guess:

1/4mile time is approximately 9 seconds and the chassis nearly blew off the RT going down the drag strip.

But does the Charger scare the heck out of you? :sly::lol:

We never get the cardboard stands here :grumpy:

You don't, they just put it there to get it out on the floor. They don't expect people to want to reach stuff that high up anyway. Sometimes I want to go as far as asking a staff member for a step ladder.

Searching through pegs during the winter season sucks because your puffy jackets knocks everything down when you stick you arm in between the cards to read the name printed on the sides. Sometimes I won't care enough, will take off my jacket, and roll up my sleeves with a basket in front of me.

I see them all the time in the supermarkets and even in the malls. But never that high though.

But I can't stand those pegs myself :grumpy:. They always yank my headphones when I browsing out of no where and winter a puff jackets are worse. Fortunately, I live in the West Coast of the US and don't nearly need to wear those puff jackets or big coats unless you need it :D.

But I still take off my jacket and my headphones when searching.

If I really wanted to go through everything in the top one, it was a "Marketplace" store which is a mix of a grocery store and one that sells home accessories. So I could have found a step ladder if I wanted to. :P

I hate going through pegs, but I kind of know what I'm looking for when I do so it's easier only having to go through pegs that I see something I am looking for. When it comes to dump bins, I will usually grab a shopping cart and use it to hold cars from the top so I can get to the bottom.

Teach me more one of the mighty Hot Wheels masters of finding HWs.:lol:

But put the jokes aside, yep that's what's I always do when there's a bin. I always use a cart, espically if its mine. Put them inside and rumage in the deeper parts. And here's a tip from me:

If you can't get a certain car(s) or don't have enough cash. When I comes to bins and even(sometimes) pegs. Stash or bury the cars from prying collectors. Put them deep or far back from everyone else so they can't find it, remember the spot and come back later and dig up the 'tomb' and get your treasures. It's really works, but with pegs, it can be a risk sometimes, unless nobody goes in there all the time it's good, but a store that's crowded all the time or have collectors constantly, it's a roll the dice moment.

Just have to share that with everyone else. It's a great way to get a 'rain check' or 'lay-a-way' cars or anything else. ;)

I've been looking through this thread for a long time, but never posted in here. Really enjoyed looking through the collections of the members here. :) I've got a small collection from my childhood, but I haven't updated it in years. (Along with the constant attack from my parents telling me to grow up and get rid of them) I hope to post some pictures here. :D Just a little note, I've been watching some die-cast car reviews from Classic Game Room Garage. I'd suggest people should check it out. There's some amusing reviews in here.

http://www.youtube.com/user/CGRgarage/videos

I should start collecting all over again, using my change. (I don't even know how much they cost now... X_X) Any suggestions of the best place to get them? >_> Walmart, Target, or something?

Great videos. I love CGR and CGR2 with the cars. Mark owns all in those reviews. :D

Yeah you should start again :). By the way, how old are you?

I'm 22, soon to be 23 and I live at home as well. My parents do the same thing about my collection, yeah I'm saving up for my car and a few other things, but at least some of my cash goes into other things like scale cars that are reasonable or hobbies. It not like something wrong or dangerous.

I still buy cars, not like I used to, but only real life cars. And if I find something I like I'll buy it. But if you want to collect, go ahead it's a great hobby to get into and it's cheaper than my favorites scales like model cars and action figures with their outrageous prices.

And guess what? Guys who collect cars, figures, play video games, read comics and graphic novels get hot chicks:D! From what I heard.

The other day when I was looking through some on hooks a nice old lady asked me a question on where something was because she through I worked their.

Funny, I used to specialize in finding people's stashes. :sly:

They weren't very clever. I could just move some boxes around on the shelves and see them sitting back there.

Back when I was in middle/high school I used to get up super early and hit all the stores on my way to school. In fact I lived next to a Wal-Mart and would get up at 5am just to get there before anyone else. Most of the time I'd turn the corner to see the hotwheels pegs stuffed full. It's a great feeling when you see them that way. :D

Yes, nothing sucks more than to walk into the toy car aisle with half- empty pegs.... it feels like a waste of time.

Thanks for the welcome guys! :D And VspecZR1GT2RS89, I'm 18 still living with my parents but getting ready to go to college. Finally got the pictures of what I bought and what I was able to find of my old collection. Apologies for the quality, my parent's digital camera sucks. >_<
The BTTF Delorean that my brother bought at a yard sale, still in it's case. :D

The scratched up Toyota Supra's got a lot of history with both my older brother and I. Our old favorite die cast car.

Oh, and I forgot to add this. The last of my collection. My cousin bought me a Ferrari 5-pack a few years ago. And these were basically the last ones I had before I stopped my collection.

I went to Wal Mart today and surprise, small restock! I came back with the red Datsun, the Aventador at last, a green Cobra, the orange 69 Super Bee and two Treasure Hunt Ford GTs, which are frankly horrible. I'll be trading them or selling them or whatever. Thing is, they were hidden behind some HW tracks. It's amazing that you can still find stuff hidden in supermarkets.

Yeah I picked up my 3rd Aventador (someone get jelly), a 2nd Lincoln Continental, Cool One (that giant wheeled ice-cream truck), and a purple Camaro Convertible.

In other news, I haven't started working on constructing the storage tupperwares yet. I have the sources, but I need to think of a method of creating the sectional grids the cars will sit in, with a procedure I can do easily at home, preferably without the need for power tools. So in other words, something I can't accomplish with something as simple as a ruler and a knife... what sheet material would you guys suggest? I think a thin sheet of acrylic might be too flimsy.

Masonite is a sturdy material I can work with easily; it'll look really ugly though.

A 2012 All Stars 458 and finally a Ken Block Fiesta that I found hiding right at the back of the pegs and those are some nice cars you have MedigoFlame and you are never too old for diecasts. What scale is that Viper next to the BTTF car in the first pic

I see you store stashes of cars yourself:sly:.

Yep, you have to be REAL(I have to put emphasis on real) clever when doing this techinque, because if you don't, somebody will take it.

Espically in the bigger stores with heavy traffic, this will take practice to master. But it's also good with others' poor hiding skills;). Like they say: finders keepers, losers weepers.

I heard that collecters take them to another asile like the hideious Barbie section:yuck:and place them somewhere else. :sly:👍

I know, it's even worse if they don't get anymore in stock for weeks.

Glad you're fitting in with the group, you will see hundreds of cars from the top two collectors here. Those two can make anyone jelly.

Nice collection though. I like the model cars that you have.👍

The Viper SRT-10 Coupe is a 1:24 scale model. :D I think I should start posting in the scale model thread as well.

Dude, I had to get my Block Fiesta from E-bay, because I couldn't find one anywhere and you find a white one at a grocery store? :grumpy:

I'm so jelly right now.

Heh, heh, Ben . . . that sounded like a story by an addict at a therapy group. Yeah, I know, it's like an 'alkie's sorrowful story about slipping up and having that forbidden drink.
You stand there looking at the cars, thinking, 'No, no, no' , but a little whine starts up in your head: 'i need dat o ya....' 'No. No! No more space in the house, can't move again!' says the other voice.
Meanwhile, your hand is flicking the packages, looking for an excuse. And you have totally forgotten that you are already gripping one tightly in the other hand. LOL.
Final resort? Stash. And smile. You are on camera.

About the Ken Block: have you noticed the difference between the packaging of the black and the white?

Medigoflame - nice start. Yowee. Wish I could hang out longer and gap out on some of your cars.

Cano, I've mentioned a few times already about a specific thread for modding posts only - it's a real time-stealer hunting through the thread to refer to a particular modding post. Please make a seperate thread, if poss. I'd love to contribute since I crazy mod too, but I don't just want to throw my posts in this glorious extravaganza of collections.
I'm exhausted trying to find the pen refill mod. Grrrr. :)

Anyone think we should start a new thread for Custom Hotwheels only?

If you do make such a thread, I'll be happy to contribute, I have several cars I've done up that I haven't posted, and quite a LOT of projects both going and stalled. and it would indeed be cool to atract attention to such a thing, because when you're out of the thread in the Rumble Strip you wouldn't imagine that such work is displayed here. Some people don't even know it exists. We could also show how the projects are going and stuff like that. Me likes.

Post it and I'll be right there with a slew of cars I have photos of already. What should it be called? Custom HW & Mb showoff thread? Tips and advice?
