It's closer to a Fulvia than you might think, as in your description of the car you left out the most important aspect of it: it's front wheel drive. It's the only fwd rotary Mazda in the history of the brand. It's also indecently rare, as there were less than 1000 cars produced.

You don't show up here as often as you used to, but as always, you prove your might as this thread's personal living encyclopedia. 👍

Thanks for clarifying the FWD part of the Luce, that is one detail that I didn't remember as well as the design. The rarity part I do know about, since much like the Cosmo, the Luce was made back when Mazda was taking its baby steps in the world of Rotary cars.

And by the way, nice 155. Shame it does fetch a pretty penny these days, as Apok said a few posts ago... Moreso if I tried to get it from you.

TLV's better proportioned. I can tell you for sure because I just received mine a couple days ago. The problem I see with the Konami is that the nose is pointed too much downwards.
Get me a TLV for 6$ and I'll jump on it too :D

Also, here's some fun trivia. I talked to SVX for a bit (OP of this thread) and here's the reason this thread was created. It's like a little proto 1/64 thread!

Mine was about $8, maybe $9 in Japan Booster's black friday "damaged stuff" sale. Box has one crease.

also, it's quite old, from 2005, so the thing is difficult to collect these days.

Oh yeah, that thing looks quite nice. If I was a JDM enthusiast I'd be bothered, but as it is that was just an addition to a large package that I was going to pay postage for anyway.

You should post pictures.

I should take pictures, lol.

Altough I did take pics of the stuff gathered in the last couple weekends trough local venues. I'll try to post them once I finish the stuff I'm writing now.

I'll jump on this guy's ship, thanks. Finding a TLV for less than 10 euros these days is already a Takeshi's Castle-level challenge...

Aww, it's like an amateur 1/64 thread! And here I was talking about baby steps with the Luce...

Yes, yes you should. If you're only going to show up every once a green Fuu, then pay your dues adequately! :sly:

I need to buy more vintage trash to summon @Cano to this thread more.

Though that clashes with my goal of not spending too much money.

And I need to write more incomplete things, since that helped as well... Otherwise, it'd just be his 155 picture and nothing else, haha.

But you know what they always say; to please the "boss", you need to splurge money when needed...

Can't believe it's been like eight years since I started this thing.

I should really come in here more often. A non-GT-R Hakosuka has definitely grabbed my attention...

A caveat on that generation of Luce: the sedan and wagon shared the styling but were dead conventional (FR and piston-engined)

And you haven't sold it to me either! :P

Anyway, I promised some pictures of stuff I purchased last year.

And speaking of race cars in plain colours, here's a 934 missing its flashy colors in exchange for a subdued black. But I don't mind, this thing looks amazing in my opinion.

Does anyone have a good resource for finding out when certain Kyoshos were released? The official website is a good start, but only goes back so far. If an ebay listing for a similar model is to be believed, this was released in 2006, but Kyosho love re-releasing things, so I'm not sure. If it is 2006 this is over 10 years old, so that's pretty cool.

I am still looking for that black 934. :(

Actually, the Kyosho website itself mentions when the boxsets are released. Just read up a bit on Japanese, though.

Here's how:

Click that link above.

Then click on the boxset's respective icon on the left.

Then look for this:

YYYY年 MM月 DD日

That's their date format. Though some early boxset releases do not have the year specified...

I got them!
You picked couple of good ones. 👍👍

Now I await your report on how the installation went:

:P
Kyosho have made a few race livery 155s, but they fetch a pretty penny.
I got that Jagermeister for $20 & change(plus dirt cheap combined shipping). :D

I actually prefer plain. Black w/gold rims looks stunning to me. 👍
That it is!
I figured it looked strangely Italian. Slap an Alfa badge on there and it wouldn't look too out of place.
Giugiaro was very popular in Japan.

Sometimes, I can't even find the damage on the "damaged" box! Another email went unanswered by dabox this week. They are ridiculously bad, Japan Booster is the opposite. Even for some stupid little $15 car or something, they never have left me hanging.

It's for good cause.

Flipping gorgeous.

Mate, I'm not even going to bother. I've paid too much and I'm too scared to ruin it. They should at least put some holes in the frame so no glue is required to attach the parts. Like CM's Corp, where the antenna can be put inside a little hole on the roof.

Sorry for the low quality pic

My blog post was about how I ruined it. Yeah, I wouldn't recommend installing the parts unless you were 110% confident going in. :D
Yeah, well. The plain white Alfa is better anyway.... :(

Curse you and your sweet deals.👍
I think I took it out of the box once to make sure it's not damaged. Kyoshos tend to go straight into storage before I get around to posting them. That latest Nissan set with the 400R shared same fate. I've been on break from posting anything, so the backlog is getting out of hand. :nervous:

Ok.

Here is one of the pictures of the stuff collected in the past few weeks. First off a trip to one of the usual fleamarkets yielded this bunch of chinese rip-offs. I'm sure you can tell which ones they are  They were incredibly nostalgic to find since I had most of them when I was a little brat.

The enormous limo is Majorette. And the newer stuff also came from the fleamarket. All of them will be thrown at the paint stripper.

Oh, and cheap Dremel bits 👍

More tomorrow.

Alright, you're doing well so far, but don't you dare forget about those Luce pictures... Or I'll kidnap your waifu (sorry, had to say it). :sly:

That Majorette limo does remind me of a blue limo I got from playing a game at a fair eons ago (when I was a really wee nipper). It might be from the same brand, although it's been so long since I've seen it I'm not 100% sure. It's languishing somewhere in my attic, that much I know.
It would make for an interesting restoration project if I had any skills at that whatsoever...

Another little showcase of something I bought last year.
CMs Mazda Familia GT-R street version.

Sadly, no matter what settings I used the pictures either showed up as the car being an under-exposed black hole or the wheels being miniature suns.
I went with the miniature suns so you can at least see the car.

Decided to use a different background for a bit of colour.

I don't know why I keep buying these JDM cars I know nothing about, but it's kind of cute.

I couldn't find the Redliners Chevy Gasser before, I just got one last ween in the trade, then this:

DSC_0144.JPG

I did take just one Gasser, also while I generally avoid anything not 1/64, I've been after this Escort(only seen this car in a 3-pack), so got that & a fantasy car for the de nephews. I now have this Fast & Furious 6 Escort in 1/18(GreenLight), 1/43(GreenLight), 1/64(Hot Wheels) & this mysterious scale one apparently by Mattel. I didn't know Mattel did this.

My local Walmart got the Camaro 50th Anniversary cars. I thought about buying the '69 as it was the only one that I liked, but didn't want to stand in line at the register for a single car. Was nice to see that Mattel is keeping the '67 metal/metal with an opening hood. Though I think if they change that, fans of that casting will have their heads.

I swung by Walmart on the way home, before picking up the cars from the pic at Toys R Us. Walmart had nothing. :(

I totally understand about not wanting to get in line at the register for just one car. My Walmart is actually not at all bad, because they have great self-checkout system, but at Toys R Us, ,I've done that many times. Not worth the wait, as they are understaffed at the cashier & they have slow newbies working working them.

More stuff from the last couple weeks. This was from a scale-car-only fleamarket that has become kind of the meeting point for collectors in the city.

IMG_0007.JPG

First we have the "projects". As you know, me being me, I can't live without picking up trash that I'll probably never get to restore. The HWs Pop Culture '56 Sedan Delivery already had its rivets removed, saving my drillbit a bunch of use and abuse. Both Tomicas came from Ahmed's seemingly endlesss stash of trash. The Tomica-rip-off Porsche was less than a buck as-is, the Maisto Hawkeye thingamabob was less than 50 cents, and the MC Toys (later Maisto) MR2, complete with clear-plastic tail-lights and bent A-pillar, came in a package deal with...

IMG_0009.JPG

The red Chevy truck and Audi, both rip-offs of Yatming castings, all for about $2. Same price for the Jada Dart and the HW Limozeen. Ahmed provided the Japan-made Tomica Subaru Sambar noodle truck. The HW 100% '34 Vern Luce Coupe (in different livery mind you) was one of the better deals of the day at $3. The HW 100% Mercury wasn't that much of a deal at about $7 but I just couldn't resist.

Stay put for the next installment, as I'll show my absolute cracking best deals from that particular day.
