I can't recall where, but I am quite sure I read that it is the first of three versions to be released.
I did blog about this while back. Source was the Tomytec TLV page, and way this information was presented, they didn't exactly say that they are releasing all three models, but this is the first/initial one they are doing from the three cars that existed. Sure sounds like it's in their plan though.
Brutal.👍
I don't follow racing at all, you showed me that on Twitter. I don't care which team/contractor you are, that was tragic.:lol:
70 🤬 dollars for that one ???!!!

Holy mother of 🤬
Tomica Limited Vintage's always been very expensive, but you always felt like you got your money's worth. Lately though, at least me personally, I feel like their MSRP ranges from too high to insane.

I'll reserve judgement on 787B until I handle one myself, but yeah, MSRP of nearly $80. And while I couldn't say no to the casting of this legendary racer, I think their new line of buses are MSRP of around $100? I love TLV buses & I've yet to own any of their new ones. If they are that wonderful & amazing in quality, I would be more than happy to pay $100 for one. But they don't even look that great. It's either their manufacturing cost is escalating by quite a bit, or they are price gouging. Either way, I can't recommend collecting Tomica Limited Vintage brand the way they are pricing themselves out of 1/64 right now.

Highest amount of money I've ever spent on one car was a 1:24 scale Dale Earnhardt IROC car for $50, but got a small discount because the seller misspoke when he told me the price (originally was $55). $80 or more for a single 1:64 seems crazy to me, although depending on what the car is I'd probably get it anyway. Just my two cents.

Some less popular models can still be had at great prices. But, yes, I just got into the TLV game recently (24 models and counting) and have noticed an increase in prices on some of the more hyped releases. Take the Rally Bluebird, for example.

That’s it though. Who would risk it on a $70 item?

It’s like those custom Akado’s I buy. They recently have included a custom rear wing that we can replace the original with. But who would do that to a $100+ car?

I'm sticking with my Kyosho RENOWN livery 787B, which was a lucky pick from the blind box. Best 10 USD purchase ever.

It also had a crooked rear wing, but I did bend the mount until the rear wing looked straight. That was easier than I thought.

I just never see a TLV priced that much here. At best it was around $20 to $40 (considering the monetary value from IDR to USD) but then again, no one has the 787B in my country yet.

Edit : just remembered, the BRE 510 Bluebird with signature had been sold at around $800 here :lol::crazy::crazy:

He just tweeted some pics of it. It's pretty bad.
Fukumi. First two pics should be of the new, replacement. He says the wing looks crooked from the top, and also the rear cowl won't sit right. My god, that frigging gap in the second pic!

He also said that he just took the pic of the rear wing on the first 787B he received. He hung on to the model, so he can compare it with the replacement. He plans on giving Tomytec a call now(👍).

This is pretty pathetic B.S. I would expect on a $10 GreenLight car, or maybe M2. :ouch::crazy:

P.S. Also, please. Please check the Real Guns thread to see what I bought instead of 1/24 or 1/43 scale 787B. :P

I sold one for close to that(dual autograph). Months later, I still got somebody from Philippines, Thailand, or somewhere asking me if I still had it. That one would have made a solid investment, but it was too much money for me to pass up.
Edit:

Now I want one. But I'm sure the price will go up even more, with the issues that the TLV has.
Go for the Kyosho Original!(I have the regular minicar vers).

Wait, so the first two pics with the bent wing and ill fitting cowl, are of the replacement one he got? Okay, now I'm really concerned. :nervous: I'd be fine with a slightly bent wing like the one @domalorite posted. That dude's one on twitter is ridiculously bad.

He tweeted back to me saying that he's contacting Tomytec in hope of filing a claim with them. He has never done this before, so has no idea what to expect. I hope they take care of the poor guy.

That Kyosho murders the TLV.

Here's what I've recently found in shops.

Again, I've yet to have a look at the TLV in person, but I do have the Kyosho & I'd be shocked if TLV didn't at least beat the Kyosho by a small margin. If you can get a decent example that is. Without defective rear cowl, or wing. :D

I think it's clear that Tomytec needs to take a look at its Chinese suppliers and evaluate whether this new cost-cutting is working. From the endless DIY details that used to be factory-assembled, to the awful mismatched paint on the recent R35s, to the terrible build quality on the 787B, things are going in the wrong direction.

Someone in your town needs to be the hero for all fellow collectors and buy them all up.

Be the first! Your buddies here at GTP will fully support you all the way.

I almost wonder if they lost key people.
Please keep us updated on that.
We'll do!
If @a6m5 quits TLVs so will I
I'm too invested in collecting these things, but should the trend continue, I would slow it the way down.
Perfect timing. Join 1/18 club :)
Spy.
I've been very tempted to buy 1/43. There are some amazingly detailed 1/43.
They are amazing. Prices seems crazy though.
I'm sure everyone knows about the shoebox size apartments in Hong Kong. A dilemma for collectors here is where to put everything. There comes a point when there is no more room. I have almost reached that point...
There's no easy way, but in order to keep collecting, I think you'll be forced to do the math. Sell as much as you are bringing in. This is where I miss basketball cards. They take no room at all.
Haven't seen any new hot wheels at my local walmart for months. Can you guess why?
I don't see any of that at my Walmart, just the Spiderman. :yuck::( All outdated things across the board, stuff that you didn't even know that they were still in circulation. And limitless supply of mystery cars (cases reordered at a time). :banghead:

The funny thing is Wal-Mart specifically asked Mattel for a camo series of Hot Wheels, and look how those are all doing. I think they should just send them to dollar stores already and just carry what people actually want, or maybe focus on ZAMACs/store exclusive colors more if they really want a Hot Wheels exclusive that bad.
