Gosh, still a lot of 2011 models left over in Canada? S15 looks nice! :D Of course, never found any. :indiff:

They don't sell as well as they do in the States.. If they can't get rid of old models, they can't bring out new ones.... which is precisely why Walmart has been selling them for a dollar to get people to empty their pegs so the staff can load 'em up with 2012.... that's when I came and emptied the pegs for them....with the 2012 stuff though! :P

Apokalipse
I think those wheels look horrid (on any car) .
I do need to find a DBS though. Wouldn't mind an S15 Silvia either.
R1600Turbo
I hate those wheels. :yuck:

Well, the wheels are kinda growing on me, they are ok on some cars with certain colors, but with a red car?! :yuck::lol:

UPDATE!!!!

Went shopping window shopping today at the mall and went into a Toys R' Us outlet, just to look at some cars.... And I was blessed by the Car Gods and found a Matchbox Caterham R500 out in the blue on near empty pegs :D. I claimed the mighty lightweight with ease and a another HW NSX also.

I'm sitting good with the R500. Love that car. :D:tup:

There's still some DBS' and S15's my area... Want me to buy it for you?

Nah, not that big of a deal really.

Now if I can't find the BMW 2002 then I am going to whine in this thread. A lot.

But I'll wait for the shops to restock. Here they do that every couple of months. :grumpy:

I pulled an AOS today and bought 26 cars at a Wal Mart. I cannot remember when was the last time I bought so many in one sweep. In a supermarket, that is.

I spent another $32 today... I need to stop...

Not even done taking all the pictures yet and already I have more to take.

Not a huge Mustang fan, but that one is tight. 👍

P.S. That poll has been a dead heat for like a week now!

Finished taking photos! UGH FINALLY!!!

Which eBay users are you purchasing from anywho?

edjt: Finally got a chance to take pictures of the ebay purchases as well as yesterday's.

Yes I really like the Fish & Chip'd now. That burnt Sienna is so pimp.

Got the Super Bee, GTO, Chevelle SS 396, a rather big Surfing School Bus, and the singles Aston DBS; the one that comes in 10-pack has silver wheels. Oh and the multi-purpose cars; Tooligan that has an attached wrench as a tail.

Got the 4 cars for $7.01 at The Bargain Shop. I feel that was probably too much.

I don't think I've ever bought anything from a repeat seller ever, with the exception of the axle lots but come on, that's obviously one guy.

Look, just go and type Hot Wheels lot, and enjoy.

I'm not looking to buy a grab bag of random cars unlike you. I look for individual cars on eBay and the last seller I bought from was selling their cars for around $2.75 each.

That's going to kill your wallet because most of the time the cars are overprized and the shipping costs make it even worse. Look for lots of cars you like, be patient.

It'll kill your wallet, but not mine because I'm not seeking a lot of older cars anyway.

Even if you buy newer cars, the shipping costs alone for each car is going to kill it. Or you can always use the "Free shipping" restriction, but even then it's rare to find really cheap cars.

Why would I buy new cars for $2.75 + shipping when I can just bike to the stores in my city and get them for $1.50? :odd:

I love the white police car, also what looks like a black & gold '32 Ford next to it?

That's the Deuce Roadster.

Upon looking for the name of an old beat up Porsche I think my dad found on the street some many years ago.. I found out that it's a 30-year-old car...Score!!!!

I also wanted to add I've had another TH this whole time without even knowing: Studebaker Avanti... Had that thing since October!

SVX - Thanks, first for the 'huge' amount of pictures. Time you posted some! Strangely enough we have many of the same car - and in similar condition, heh heh; we know how that happens, eh?
As for apologising for your post . . . puh-leese . . .it's enough that your oh-so-humble OP is what brought me into this thread. Rule the roost, man.:)

Now . . . on to business.
First order of the day: small announcement.
Tired of hinting once again over and over, I decided to go ahead, burn the midnight oil, and create another HW-related thread (though the scales are wider, and the range, broader), this one related to the actual Photography per se, (like the Customizing Thread focuses on customizing.) I do invite you over to post some of your stuff in there, and as well come over to discuss more broadly the issues of shutter vs aperture priority.
I see, like me, you enjoy playing and photographing the models, and I'm sure you'll enjoy the thread.
Also this gives us a space in the appropriate location to preserve, access, and show-of our work, instead of it being buried in this thread - the same reason I kept asking for a Customisation thread.

HUGE PICTURES WARNING!

Bought some new stuff last weekend. Decided I'd use a similar setup to Car-less' for my pictures. I hope you don't mind Car-less:

Kenmeri!
P1010035.jpg

I then went out for a photoshoot with them outside:

Sorry for the large amount of pictures.

The photoshot outside resulted in that fabulous shot of the car on the hill (reminds me of what I do with a GT-R in TDU2. haha!). That is such a keeper, great shot - you already have it in your gallery, but would fit in nicely in the 'Painting with Light' thread.

Majorette - Morgan by smiglo, on Flickr

I just couldn't believed what I was founding! especially for the price they was asking for this cars, they all cost me just between 20-50 pence each!

What a catch, $miglo - perfect additions to what you already have. That Morgan! And the Ford Anglia! I do have the Solstice convertible:

100_2450-1.jpg

This thread's getting little bit weird.

I'm not French, but yeah, I surrender. :dopey:

Yeah, that is so weird how availability change regionally. I could probably go pick 3 Kenmeri a day, without even trying. If I tried, I can probably score 50 in one day.

Nice matchbox cars. 👍 I thought I bought the original Mini, but last time I went through my cars, I didn't notice that in there. I wonder if I didn't buy it? :banghead: I have the Land Cruiser, but not in the factory paint scheme like yours. It was like OD green. Again: :banghead: I wish I bought the GMC truck. Looks really cool, but I didn't feel like picking them up then, because I'm sort of a F-1 truck fanboy when it comes to pick ups of that era. Last time: :banghead:

Thanks, a6m5 - always nice to hear from you!:) (haha, even when you"re grumbling.) My MB/Major collections are my favourites - it's just that isn't enough of them. I'm always on the lookout for something I don't have. HWs however have subliminal marketing strategies. You may have the same car appearing simultaneously, maybe with a wheel or colour variation from one year to the next, and then you may have colour variations in the same series ( I have an example of that - will bring it out later. So it's much easier to source HWs, plus a wider variety is available; our HWs take over the collection!

Nice DBS with the golden wheels :)

I liked them at first, but I can't stand them now. They don't look bad in all black, though.

I agree - all is not lost. The DBS with the golden wheels is a nice DBS but I think the wheels are a little too flashy for the car, so:

But these are the wheels I like:

Which come from this:

And this:
100_8097.jpg

wtf, those are just basic cars. Open your treasure hunts.

Sir! Thank You, Sir! Message was received, everything was exploded, some were disguised as '11s, some'12s, and there were a couple of 1:24s (including a Fort GT) that we clearly missed - unfortunately no hidden THs; sharp eye out for them. We do have a new problem - false errors - and this one is worse than an MB in an HW 5-pack:

Just the point I was trying to make, Medigo - look closer at the packages you buy - unless you have Cano's eye (he can spot a yatming at a 1000 yds) you'll end up with dupes, '11s, '10's, even some 09's. Good thing of course if you are looking for some of the older releases.

Tom - you have such a distinctive style. If I passed one of your pics on a billboard, I'd go: "Hey! That's Tom Servo's picture!":) Do post some of yours in the Miniatures Gallery over in the Photo Forum. (Of course you can make your own gallery, but this one is subject specific, so please hang a couple in there - your work is too nice to be buried deep inside talk of scalpers, trading, investments and bad wheels.

I want one:grumpy:

Try eBay, wilson - it's only money. Still cheaper than buying a Mustang from AUTOart. In fact one of the surprising thing about THs? Someone is always ready to sell them, :), not keep them, let alone open them (like Cano.)

Not a huge Mustang fan, but that one is tight. 👍

P.S. That poll has been a dead heat for like a week now!

Haven't voted yet. Guide me - I have six drawers of packages (90+, depending on pakage size, in each drawer.) Of these, only one drawer contains 'collectibles' - more on that later. The others contain cars that are to be opened and used. If you look at the last picture in this post you'll understand what I mostly do with my cars.
I also have packages up on the wall - all are displays; any one could be opened on a whim. Depends on the mood.
Then I have trays, and boxesfull, and tabletops scattered with loose cars; hundreds of them.
Is there a ballot for 'Collector/Impulse Opener'?

Alex, you've already been into this thread - so I'm really happy to hear that the bug has bitten you. It's a hobby that starts cheap, but can end up catastropic if you are not careful. Impulsive buying - especially if you are out to impress other collectors (who will not be impressed anyway) will kill you and you will look back at the boxful of dusty HWs when you have given up, and wonder why you threw your money away. Start small and limit yourself. 10 cars a month is not a lot (hardly the price of a decent pizza) - but can keep you busy for hours in many ways - unless you are buying to store them in packages in a dark closet. What other way can you check the tangible proportions of a GT-R up close in detail for hours? And that is just the start of it . . .
I see you still have them in the packages, though.
I also feel that they will be worth a lot more to you opened, than staying imprisoned. Nice cars to start with - no duds (IMO) in there.
And now the picture as promised:

That is true, I am hunting mainly for left over models from past series. I have found several 2010 models. :)

I didn't know hot wheels was making a tribute model for Dan Wheldon. It's a standard model that comes with rubber wheels. I am going to try and find one of those.

I repeat ebay buys from bargain_label_king and big1231. I also like majoretteca and codyfyi. bargain label has FREE SHIPPING and sells only individual cars. He lists hundreds a week and if you know which ones are rare, you can do well. I've bought the 10 pack only cars for 2-3 bucks. This week he has models but he's definitely one to save.

I need to get on this... all the cars I moved off the shelf months ago are all missing and I'm pretty sure I had taken them away myself but completely forgotten where I put 'em... I just remembered that the R34 was one of them :(

Here's a few of trays of Corgi's. I hope you're ready for this...

54) A pair of Fire Chief cars, one a 'juniors' Buick Regal, the other a 'whizzwheels' Mercury Cougar XR7.
55) A mountain rescue Range Rover and a Chubb Airport Fire Truck.
56) A pair of very different red Land Rovers, a Royal Mail van and a classic towtruck.

57) Ambulances - Mercedes Benz 'Binz', Healer Wheeler and Mercedes 300TD.
58) Police wagons - Range Rover and Land Rover.
59) A Pair of Rover 3500 police cars.
60) Classic German police cars - VW Beetle and Porsche 911.

61) German Sedans - Mercedes Benz 240D and Mercedes Benz 190E.
62) British Coupes - a Triumph TR7 and Jaguar XJS.
63) A pair of Fiat XI/9.
64) Chevrolet Corvette and Pontiac Firebird.

65) AMC Pacers. The flame stickers on the blue one are not original.
66) Small cars - Austin Metro and Renault 5 Turbo.
67) Aston Martin DB6s. The blue one is all metal, the yellow has a plastic base.
68) Classic Citroens - Dyane and 2CV.

69) A few more Buick Regals to go with the Fire Chief I started with.
70) A 'Whizzwheels' Reliant Scimitar and junkyard E-type - it really is falling apart.
71) A worn out VW Polo and a caravan with broken towhitch.
72) A 'Juniors' helecopter missing one of its rotorblades.

73) Ford Transits - 'Pointers' and 'AA' vans and an early model pick-up.
74) Matra Rancho in various colours.
75) Two variants of Jeep and a 'Rough Terrain Truck'.
76) As a child I only knew these ones as Addidas Vans.

77) Ford - Escort and Mustang Cobra.
78) Black and Blue Ford Sierras.
79) Three different castings of Ford Capri.
80) Porsche 935, 911 Carrera and Ferrari 308GTS.

81) Mercedes Benz 300 SL with opening gullwing doors.
82) 'Ital Design Bizzarrini Manta' is what it says on the base.
83) De Tomaso Mangusta is missing its glass.
84) Ferrari 512S.

85) London Taxi with opening suicide doors.
86) Wigwam Camper Van.
87) Ford skip truck missing its skip.
88) This is not a Daihatsu Midget. It's actually a Triumph TW9.

89) Beach Buggy. I had many of these as a child, but only this one survived.
90) A rather nice Super Stock Car.
91) Yet another Ford Capri casting, this time as a 'dragster'.
92) I wonder what this could be? All it says on the base is 'Corgi Juniors' and 'Made in GT Britain'.

93) The name's Bond - James Bond, and the ejector seat does work - sometimes.
94) A Batmobile, and a Batmobile that seems to have been attacked with a black marker.
95) 'Supermobile' - (c) DC Comics inc. 1979.
96) 'Chitty Chitty Bang Bang' is unfortunately missing one of it's wings.

97) 'Corgi Rockets' Ole Macdonald.
98) 'Tom & Jerry'.
99) What diecast collection is complete without a stagecoach and covered wagon?
100) Militaria - a Centurion Tank, Commando V100 and Daimler Scout Car.

...and then I hit the 200 picture limit. The trucks will be along soon.
