@Photonrider: Hmm.... Foamcore... 💡

Never heard of it before, but that's how you create your racetracks and the other amazing backgrounds in your photoshoots. I was gonna ask what do you use for your background props, but didn't get a chance though.

In the first picture, did you create the High Speed Ring or Midfield Raceway or a look-a-like version? Looks really good though, I was thinking of one day designing the Nurburgring, Spa, Fuji, Suzuka, Laguna or the former tracks I mentioned as a set for photos and/or messing with.

@Frosty: OH YEAH!!! I remember playing HW: Stunt Track Driver 2 on the PC when I was a kid. I think it came with one of my track sets. The good days. I also remember Planet HW also, but I played it sometimes.

AOS-
Umm.... *counts fingers*... around 5 hours? Reckon it would've been 3 to 4 if I didn't cut the platforms the wrong length, twice.

You're right; I could have made it look way more fancier, but for something I didn't want to spend more than a day on, I wasn't going to bother.

Well it still looks good IMO.

And even though your cars are the everyday HW that you find, don't call them dinky little cars! They don't like it. :nervous::lol:

So when are you gonna use the larger shelf you mentioned? I see you took a long time building it to perfection. Is it for the Stealth "Ninja" Cars project when you finish them?

At 1ness
Still looks pretty damn good for just a days work AOS 👍

 Just had a look over at HWC sneak peeks, they're doing a bosozoku car.

Cano
Ah so they finally previewed the Bad Manga! I had seen it in the poster and it looked pretty legit. Let's go see.

EDIT: It's awesome. It's pretty accurate with the Boso madness! I was thinking of turning a kenmeri into a sharknose car, but HW did the work already. I have a set of small, Work Equip 01 lookalikes that will be going in one of those once they hit the shelves here.

Hot Wheels is making a bosozoku car?!

Man, I can't wait to see how it's gonna look. I'll start looking on the interwebz later and see how the final view of the car looks like. When it comes out, I'm gonna pick up at least 3-4 of them.

Oh yeah speaking of doubles, my local stores still don't have the newer cars yet:grumpy:. But at least when I went to Walgreens to get a few things, I ran into several more Hakosuas and 911 GT3s in the asile. Since no one buys the HW cars in the store(price tag $1.30, no wonder:rolleyes:.) But to find more KPGC10s and 997s is worth it.

So I got one more(which totals four C10s) for when I start modifying some Hakos, I have alot of ideas for this car. Someone, get me the real Hako! :D

My Mom was with me when we went shopping for some groceries, so I told her I had to get some things I forgot to pick up before we go, so that's how I got it. She didn't even notice it was in my pockets. :sly:👍

to everyone now mind-raped because of the "bad manga" search, I'm sorry to tell you I made a mistake, the car is called Mad Manga. Entretaining, though, lol.

My thoughts on eBay when it comes to new releases =

Anyone know what they based that car off of? Kind of looks like a Skyline.

I'll be honest, it was tempting to purchase. But, I want multiples so I'm waiting it out. It's my favorite release of the year, so far. And I also want to know what car it is. This is where you come in with the answer, Cano. :D

I'm saying Hot Wheels crazyness. If you really look at it it could be anything from a Skyline to a Corolla to Sunny. I think HW just cast a generic japanese-looking hatchback and went from there. Which is good, as when the Boso cars are done, they mostly look like that, heh.

SVX
WHATEVER YOU DO, DO NOT SEARCH UP 'BAD MANGA' ON GOOGLE IMAGES.
:yuck:

You are exactly 8 years late on warning me about that, though the H-word would've made that fall on deaf ears

Besides, you did it wrong. Y U No safesearch?

It's been quite a while since someone posted a purchase update. Here's mine. :D Unfortunately there was nothing new... :indiff:

Mainly doubles today, I probably wouldn't have bought the Modern Rides 5-Pack, but I had to have another Holden Ute (love them! :embarrassed:).

Yeah, I'd say that's pretty dead on. :D I think I'm pretty much done with the "collecting", but I will have to get that one, as the car's from my childhood, 1980's Japan. 👍

Possibly my last batch:

it is time to start showing you people whatever the internet has given to me in the last past months. There's loads more but I'll show it progressively. We start with a batch of Playarts:
IMG_7102.jpg

I had found the 928 long ago in quite miserable shape, so it was nice to pick it up mint. The Automobile Club de L'Ouest tampo is a nice touch. The orange monstrosity is real, it's an Alfa Romeo P33 by Bertone.
IMG_7103.jpg

I already had the E-Type Jaguar, I bought it at the convention so I thought this one was gonna be a repeat, but surprise, the one I had has a metal base, this one is plastic, enough of a difference to save it from being for sale. The red Ford station wagon has the most random flame job ever.
IMG_7105.jpg

And the coolest of the bunch, the Countach. Some of you may remember that I grabbed one in very bad shape some months ago, that one is already in pieces waiting to be restored, but it's cool to have it in nice original shape.
IMG_7109.jpg

The only Lambo I've ever seen in this scale with opening scissor doors.
IMG_7107.jpg

Here we have some Matchboxes and a china-made cute little pick up truck.
IMG_7123.jpg

The cool piece in this mess is the 3d gen Firebird, good shape and I quite like the paintjob.
IMG_7125.jpg

These three are a bit of a project, the trucks are missing something on the rear, so it's a good chance to give them new life. The NASCAR car is missing just the rubber, but it's otherwise amazingly detailed with an opening hood and detailed undercarriage. I shall find some wheels for it.
IMG_7127.jpg

EDIT: post was not done but I accidentaly hit "post reply", duh.

We have these mid-90s Hot Wheels which I enthusiastically liberated from their blisterpacks, with the exception of the Classics Nitty Gritty Kitty, but I pulled that one too. This picture is cool because it has both 300ZX castings, two of the very very few HWs that open their doors. Wonder why two Nissans have this characteristic?
IMG_7145.jpg

In this picture we see variants of the BMW M1 and the Peugeot. I'm entertained to say thet, yes, the wheels poke THAT far out on the green Peugeot. These were also torn off their blisterpacks.
IMG_7147.jpg

Random old HW stuff:
IMG_7150.jpg

We see the orange Motorhome in decent shape, quite better than the one I had and a worthy companion to my metal-base one:
IMG_7151.jpg

This Ferrari has a curious plastic body and no glass but gold-chromed plastic, and I have no stinkin' idea why. Anyone (Wyvern) can shed some light on this car?
IMG_7156.jpg

This Neet Streeter redline came in unnanounced, when I bought the lot the pciture was taken from above and never showed it was a redline. Its pretty tattered but no one is complaining.
IMG_7157.jpg

and the Getty Shadow Jet, another one to add to the collection. Only a few missing now! I never had the intention to collect this casting but they've come to me on their own, who am I to say no?
IMG_7158.jpg

The relevant pieces in the bunch are the Baja Breaker from the Suzuki motocross racing team, one of the hard to find versions of this van, in decent shape, specially for the price.
IMG_7154.jpg

And of course, the Lightning Gold with grey Real Riders from 1984, in quite good shape.
IMG_7152.jpg

And another small bunch, three Park & Plates cars.
IMG_7159.jpg

The 300ZX is minty and one of the few versions of this car I was missing:
IMG_7160.jpg

IMG_7161.jpg

The Testarossa is also mint and was, surpisingly, other car I was missing despite how many versions of this car there are.
IMG_7162.jpg

IMG_7163.jpg

And the white 65 Mustang, a bit tattered and without the plate, duh, but it IS the Park & Plates version.
IMG_7164.jpg

that's it for now, I'll post more within the next few days, loads of Lesneys to show off (:

God, so many nice cars in there I couldn't begin to list the one's I like. My favorite must be the Countach though. How awesome. 👍

As for the 540K... I've been trying to find this car, but no. I mean, NOT. It's like it doesn't exist. It might be one of those very elusive 80s color Racers or God knows, but it's extremely difficult to find, no doubt. Try to find out more about it and tell us (me at least), because I'm pretty intrigued.

Here we go again with the international variations that drive me crazy. What the HELL with the blue/silver Dumpin' A? I had NEVER seen it. Judging by the colors, it could be italian or french... hell, even from India. Pic of the base, please.

Also, go screw yourself because of that blue Show Hoss II funny car, that is one of the rarest variations of the car available worlwide short of the Mexico and France versions. That car alone is worth big money.

The redlines are also pretty damn good. The red Mongoose is in amazing condition! And that color for the Hot Heap is pretty cool. So far these have been amazing posts because of all the rare cars.

I know nothing about the 540K. In fact I don't even know where I got it from and only knew what it was because SVX was modding one in the other thread.
Similarly, I know nothing about the Dumpin' A, not even it's name until you provided it for me.

The other two were rejects from my uncles collection back in the 80's!
The Show Hoss II he likely replaced with a better example where the two halves were still connected to each other, and the mongoose I dunno. Maybe he wasn't happy with the paper stickers instead of tampos?

Anyway, here's a couple of extra pictures, though I don't think you need them any more?

Out of the pics I just want the holden commodore. I've seen a blue dumpin A at the antique mall...perhaps I ought buy it? The blue Hoss is quite scarce though.

color racers and colot fx drive me crazy as well; they are hard to differentiate at times from mainline, they are hard to source, they are hard to price and in the end they have nominal collectible value. Im sure a few are worth a few bucks, but mostly they are worth just a buck as novelty.

The 540 is interesting. From the pics it looks like a color car, but since I have time with PSN locking me out, I have time to research! I remember Avon using allot of the classics for limited runs. Not saying this falls into that category, but it could.

The Holden is mine, all mine. Actually, I'm not that attached to it unlike the Australian MB's that I'll get to eventually.

The colour cars are indeed bizarre. I've heard half a dozen different names for them, and seen them sold as Corgi's (see below) as well as Hotwheels. Personally I'm not too fussed about them other than the few I remember from when I was young, so their value is more nostalgic than monetary.

Just read on the HWC forums that they will officially be getting rid of the green stripe for all treasure hunts next year. They will all be mixed into regular series. Supers will stay the same as they are now.
they didn't say specifics. There will be a series with a green stripe, but it won't be the Treasure Hunts anymore. This works in the favor of the collectors because for years the TH's have been the "green stripe" and everyone knew that

I think this might be what they mean...
green_card.jpg

Bottom-left, 2011-2012 card regular TH - old green stripe.
Top-left, 2011-2012 card Super TH - no green stripe.
Top-centre, 2012-2013 card Super TH - no green stripe.
Bottom-centre, 2012-2013 card regular TH - no green stripe.
Top & bottom-right, 2012-2013 card non-TH with new green stripe.

I would like to start collecting the Treasure Hunts, but of course, I have yet to find one.
I have yet to ever find a Treasure Hunt so it doesn't really make a difference for me. :sly:
Neither have I. Like I said in a earlier post, the only TH in my collection is the Studebaker Avanti that I got off E-Bay

Actually that's called "greedy collectors". Not sure if you go through the finds section on HWC but I commonly see guys go through dump bins and take EVERY TH and Super they find. That kind of stuff pisses me off. :grumpy:

I didn't think Treasure Hunts were anything special before they were mentioned in this thread, yet I already had a dozen or so. Now I actively look out for them and get about a dozen each year - but only the ones I like, and I never deliberately get doubles. I know I've left 3 on the pegs this year, and two of them are probably still there.

Since you guys aren't posting anything, allow me to post what I just built out of foamcore:
Nice display case/ shelf AOS 👍, i like the ledges but also think it would've looked good flush, with maybe the sides and bottom edges extended, so you could have mad some channels and drop in a small clear sheet of thin gauge acrylic or polycarbonate.

Excellent. I'm so tempted to make some myself now, but they would have to have the clear front cover to help keep the dust out. Only problem is that almost nowhere sells foamcore around here, and those that do are not cheap. Might have to look for some online.

Nope, those are just the Team Hotwheels cards that are hitting the pegs. This new "no green stripe" thing will actually start for the 2013 model year.

From the HWC.com thread about it:
I spoke with Justin after the Finale this evening and he explained, in rough detail, what they were doing with the Treasure Hunts for 2013. In a while, I'm sure someone will post up the 5 new colored series in the 2013 mainline set.

The GREEN colored series will be the "Imagination" series (think Sharkruiser). The "regular" Treasure Hunts will be distributed throughout the series, but will have a "heavier concentration" in the RED colored series, AKA, the Showroom series. We will still have the "hidden super" cars distributed the same as before.

Grrr, they're changing things again. It's annoying enough that they release early 2012 cars on 2011 cards, then change the cards too after a few months. Then there's long cards and short cards, and wheel variants on otherwise identical car/card combos.

Ah, such a pity that the Show Hoss is separated from the chassis, but it is still a very worthy piece. About the Dumpin' A, I found out about it after I posted that last time. It was part of a very scarce mainline series known as "Speed Machines" that only came out in 1983, and had very very odd color combos of long-time known castings. You light yellow Show Hoss is also from that same series. These are amonsgt the hardest 80s HWs to find, so keep them well cared. Here is the South Texas link.

http://texashwcollectors.org/hwguide/speedmachines.html

The 540K is still a mistery.

Just got a full 18 gallon tub of old Nascars and a couple other types. I have no idea if they're worth anything. Most if not all are from 92-95.

That sure looks like Awesome Bill's Thunderbat - if it's an original RC model then it's worth at least $10.00 if not more to a collector who is into NASCAR. What else is in that box . . .

They oughta be. :indiff:

Did I mention that? I honestly don't remember saying that. I did say I was going to make a ton of acrylic or tupperware cases, but I'm dropping that idea.

Just use other material then. I'm only using foamcore because I can get it for cheap and cut it super easily without power tools. As for keeping dust out. I'm swapping cars each week so I can dust off the cubicles while I do that.

I suppose the maisto elite hauler with the blue Nissan GT-R isn't out yet... :( Hunting for the Evo X, Viper, SLR, and 911 GT2. You guys should look into it. Would be a great display to have. :D

Driving Park
Duuude. I spent SO much time playing Stunt Track Driver 2 back in the day. Such a great game. I never owned any of the others but my friend had World Racing and Velocity X, and I spent a LOT of time playing those. Velocity X was so much fun.

On another note, all those cars I said I must have in my last post? Found them all, all in the same rack at the Walmart. Bought a couple of others and walked away with 11 cars. 👍

As did I, they were amazing games, lots and lots of hours well spent, good memories :)

Hi Spacegoat - thanks for the kind words about the picture - made it worth my while to know you enjoyed it. Yeah - thats a Vintage series A.J.Foyts '65 Ford Mustang.
I like that picture, too; not only is there a lot of tension and mood in it - the car looks so 'driveable'. I just want to jump into it and thrash it to hellangone. I know a6m5 has it and also has Dan Gurney's '68 Cougar. Great finish on them, and super, super tampos and wheels. I have also seen a Duster, Camaro, and Challenger in the same series. This is real quality HW.

VSpec - I'm so glad you're interested in modelling the environments - I'll be posting more photos and 'how-to' tips in the Miniature Model Photography Thread.
Proportions are important - this one is more for 1:80s - 1:55s - so mainly made for the smaller cars.

Hey there, ladies and gentlemen!

Two days ago I stumbled across the Matchbox/Hotwheels etc. customization thread. Might be my new hobby ;p

Anyway, here's what I have in my household, a collection of cars back from the time when I could stand under a wardrobe ;) Angles may not be the best, sorry in advance.
