Ok, this is where I stopped tonight on the GT Academy demo car. Got it stripped (still a little bit of paint left) and got the holes drilled and the wing mounted. Unfortunately the wing is not accurate to the demo car, but it's all I could find that would fit.

Oh, you're going for the black car from the game? I'm a little disappointed now. You had a beautiful yellow car and didn't think to turn it into this?

The genuine GT Academy car that the two winners are driving rather than the car from the demo?...

Even if you wanted to go less transfer-heavy you could always go for one of the training 370Zs from the Silverstone event:

Go on, make it interesting! :P

^^^ I'll try those next. The problem here is that I have never printed out decals before, so this is my first time. I don't even have any experience doing decals at all, and trying to duplicate the graphics on those cars might be over my head.

Edit: Wheels have been installed. I will be painting the gray line on the lip of the wheel black, as well as the axle nub there in the center.

Only had time tonight to paint the wheels, and do some shaving on the body to get the car to roll at the current ride height. I hope to start laying paint tomorrow after work.

Jeebus. The stance & proportion of the car looks amazing already. 👍 Can't wait to see it with its body painted.

I'd love to see how the decal'ing goes, I've been meaning to buy some of that super expensive paper to try some stuff out.

On another note I cannot believe I have not yet seen one HW Treasure Hunt EVER! :yuck:... Everytime I happen to be in a place that sells them I never see any green card goodness! Do they even export them to the UK or other countries or are they only for the US?

Either that or I'm super unlucky and they are being snapped up the instant they are put on the shelves, because they are all hung up its very easy for anyone to see a green card right away. I just want to even see one in real life! :scared:

Robin.

I bought some decal paper that works with an ink jet printer. So hopefully they turn out ok. The starter package was $12.

I got them in Slovenia, so I'm sure the UK gets them too, but they are snached up very quickly. I was lucky, to be there when they put new ones up. Keep trying 👍

Paint has officially been applied. I'm going to let it sit in the window all day tomorrow so that it can get some sun to dry. If it's not tacky when I get home, I'll throw everything together and post another photo. I may wait a couple days to let it dry thoroughly.

Edit: OK, I couldn't wait. LOL

I am very happy with the way the paint turned out. Super smooth and glossy. I'm going to start work on the decals tonight, and try to find a way to get a windshield banner on it. Since printers cannot print in white, it's gonna be hard.

Edit: I've decided to do a version of all three cars, starting with the yellow one next.

The decals are transparent I assume? Stick it on the windshield then paint the inside of the windshield white.

I don't think that will work. I found a way I might be able to make it work. I do have white decal paper. If I create a design with white lettering on a black background and print it out, then I can just put a complete black banner with white lettering at the top of the windshield.

Also going to try and do the brake lights, headlights, etc in decals as well using photos from a real 370Z, to get as much detail as possible.

Edit #2: Wheels for the yellow one?

looks about right to me. Though the playstation 3 at the bottom i doubt is needed. It won't come out when shrunk to fit.

Purchases for the week. Obviously sourcing some older stuff. Costing a tad more than new ones do out of a shop but there are some older ones really worth getting. Either way only have about 5-10 more I want of older models.

Really having trouble finding myself a maserati mc12.

Having a bit of a TH drought too. May have one in a few days though as I passed a store today that only had 1-2 cars left on the shelf. Just need to revisit the next day or two hoping to catch when they re-stock.

J-Pap, you should check e-bay for such cars as the MC12, they are not really THAT old so they are really cheap and sometimes you find them on lots so it's more or less economical to pay the shipping fees. If you buy those one by one at hobby/collector stores/events, you'll money will grow wings, really.

I've only been dealing with ebay already and have been combining shipping. No such thing as collector stores or events in Australia from what I know. I actually can't even find any mc12's on ebay. I found one actually that was also an error but the seller refuses to sell it on its own (he wants to sell it as part of a set which I'm not interested in.)

J-PaP, I have an MC12. If you want it bad enough I might just put it up on eBay for you. :D

Anyway, I got 2 new speed machines today at the local Target: a gold and black Ford GTX1 and a light blue/black Ferrari 599. Plus a mystery car. :D

Man, I really need to get around to taking pics of all these new cars...

Gotta get the Mazda Furai. I was so happy when I found it. Now still looking for the Citroen Rally car. No luck on that one yet. I plan on buying another one of those '92 Mustangs when I am done with the GT Academy cars and doing a whole drag car setup on it.

ah, the Willys looks pretty back in the day. I'll be waiting for that and the Fox Mustang (At last available in the mainline) to arrive to Mexico soon. Maybe in a month they'll be here.

also, Maverick in grabber blue. YYYYYYYYYYYYYYYEEEEEEEEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS.

Yeah, not bad. :)

Edit: New finds.

I was at the drug store yesterday and noticed a huge display with hot wheels cars... I use to have a huge amount of them when I was young, but they all got lost in the last years with moving from place to place and such. Although when I stood in that store yesterday and saw the stand it sparked my interest and I was amazed to see how many "real" cars are made nowadays... I couldnt help myself and I ended purchasing 5 of them and Im thinking about starting to collect them again :) I quoted your post because it has the Furai in it which I purchased as well along with a Ferrari F430 Challenge, Viper SRT-10 ACR, Saleen S7 race car and a blue Bugatti Veyron.... I REALLY wanted a GTR but couldnt find one there... Does anyone know if it exists and what colors? :D

I fairly much had a similar situation to you that got my interest going. I never used to remember hotwheels making many real cars. To answer your question if you mean the R35 GTR they do make it. Comes in silver, red(burgendy) and white from memory. It is a little older than the others you bought though you should still be able to find it on shelves.

Yeah, the ones I had when I was young were like hotrods and made up cars... But now that they make replicas of real cars it makes it interesting... next to that they werent expensive at all either... I paid 1.69 EU. for each one, which is really cheap imo... I'm going to keep looking for the GT-R, hopefully I find it in white or silver... :) Thanks for answering btw 👍

Assuming you're reffering to the R35 GT-R, there is the regular car which from what I've seen comes in Silver and red. Then there's the Speed Machine version (Labeled "GT-R V-Spec '09") which comes in a brighter red.

They also make the R35 in a pearl white color. I saw it the other day, but it didn't appeal to me.
