They aren't very rare it is just they are more popular than most hotwheels. They are more common than the ecto 1 was. Problem is whoever finds them buys 4-5 at a time to ebay.

That's ashameful, buying more just to put them on e-bay and make a profit.👎

The mustang looks amazing R1600Turbo

Few newer purchases of the last few weeks.

Agreed. Hopefully they are produced for long enough to let people get over the profit making or for them to pop up in supermarkets.

Blitz187: The vector was a great buy. I had one as a kid and it was always one of my favourites. Had to find another. I just got Pontiac Banshee that was one of my favourites too that I'll post up next week with some other cars I've gotten.

I suppose I should go back to the shops tomorrow and get the C6 Convertible I passed up accidentally and that Riley and Scott Le Mans racer. What brand is that Vector and XJ220 you have there J-Pap? My supervisor at Ford owns an XB GT sedan, so I told him about the XB Coupe Hot Wheels car, and we've agreed that if we find any we'll get 2, 1 for the other person.:sly:

I got an XJ220 by virtue of a 5-pack last year.......or was that the year before?

Thanks :) I'll be after a Roadster Coupe next, and then possibly a ForTwo and ForFour. Also, how bright is that orange on the Roadie? :P Gave me a shock when I opened the parcel...

I asked Siku by email if the smart roadster exists in more colors. They replied saying, that it exists in red, orange, yellow, blue and silver-green.
The current model is red.

Strange, because on their website they only list red.

Here is the official story from Mattel on the Citroen Rally car:

HWC JohnF @ HWC.com
This car was produced and made available in one color in the short card as well as the 4 language long-card that is usually found at Grocery and Drug stores. Unfortunately, it has not yet been produced in the normal domestic long card as an All Star in the 10 series of 10 cars and as a deco+ in Speed Machines. Midway through production, we came under a contract conflict with Citroen that has yet to be resolved. For all you completionist out there, we are doing what we can to get this car out in the domestic blister card even though it is available in the 4 language card. Do note that we will have the 4 language card in the 2010 master set. It is very possible that we will no longer produce this car.

Heh. Well, I presume mine is orange then. It's a bit day-glo whatever colour it is. I would have quite fancied a blue one, and part of me is tempted to buy another to paint in a colour of my choice :D

My latest purchase, dead chuffed with this one :D

I think I love the packaging almost as much as the car!

ok, lets go post by post, this is gonna be long.

Holy hell, you can get a Hot Wheels Talbot Lago? I have to get one of those, beautiful cars.

And Cano, you're welcome :) Didn't realise there was any American iron you didn't already have! :P

HfS, just tell me and you can have a white mint Talbot Lago with wide whitewall tires shipped right to you. I have one available among the several hot wheels I have for trade/sale. In fact, you have a pm.

And I already have the Hot Bird in several variations, but that one is new for me. It's freaking cool.

EDIT: Actually, I found out why I did not know that version: it was a 10-pack exclusive. If you wanna part with it, let me know, haha

Hey Cano,

just to let you know, my Dad and I are in the process in restoring a Hotwheels car. It's currently in primer.

AWESOME!! Let us see when it's done. What is it?

That is one of the thing I really want to do. Due to frequent visits to flea markets I have several pieces awaiting resurrection, from HWs to even old Tomicas, Lesneys, Majorettes and a Siku or two. I'll post them once I start, of course.

The XB falcon must be pretty hard to get. I saw one on ebay for $35

That's excruciatingly bonkers. I left like 40 hangin in the rafters today and have left literally hundreds since it appeared. Man, Australia is also full of black market trash...

Anyway, here is my new one... well, among the dozens of new hot wheels and other stuff, this really pops. I found it at the usual local flea market. I'd guess it's from the late 50s-very early 60s due to being made ENTIRELY from tin, tires included, and by the construction method, it was made in Japan (altough I am by no means entirely sure of this). It has articulated doors with working handles and rear cargo area... it looks a lot like a Pierce Arrow, which is what enamored me. that, and the price... like 8 bucks.

Oh, its a little smaller than a 1:24 scale car.

And in such a great shape.

Word "suspension/サスペンション" is oddly placed on the bottom right corner of the box. Does it have working coil suspension or something? :odd:

I don't know how familiar you are with the Japanese tin toy market, but I know that when I grew up there during 80's, some of those things were worth thousands of dollars. At the same time, I'd imagine that there would be lots of knockoffs out there as well.

Edit: I forgot to add that the toy looks more Western to me.

Cano: What would be the possibility of posting 1-2 xb's over to Australia to me if I cover car + postage? It is probably worth it compared to scavenging stores here for one.

Good thing I found one today.

2007 actually. blue and yellow yeah?

Actually I forgot they make the xj220 currently in the speed machines series.

Can't remember if there was yellow on it but yeah.

Nice Honda, my only NSX is the Hot Wheels race car.:)

I found one today!:dopey: I had to buy a 3-pack to get it, and it was the only one there sitting right at the back of the shelf but I got it!:D

Nice work. I noticed the 3 packs started to have it so i'll start checking those next time I go past the shops. I'm sure they will be less popular than the singles.

What store did you find it at Paulie?

Big W (pronounced Dubbya ). I got a Mustang and Charger with it I already have.

Hey Cano,

I've taken a couple of photos of the project. I actually don't know what model it is, I've looked on the bottom of it, but it only says the year and other things. Could you identify it please?
I've kinda modified it, by sanding the hood smooth.

It isn't an old Mercedes with all those lights at the front is it? Like the one Hitler used to be ferried around in? (Can't remember the particular model).

Thanks for the offer! I replied to your PM, but I suppose it depends how much you want to let the Lago go for really and how much you wanted the Firebird, perhaps we could do a trade of sorts :)

I don't actually know, but I'll have a check, thanks for pointing it out 👍 I expect if it does it's fairly rudimentary, like maybe the axle has a bit of give in it or something - I'm pretty sure I used to have a few Hotwheels like that, where they had a bit of suspension travel because of how the axles were mounted.

EDIT: I just checked, and you're right, it does! It's really springy, pretty cool :)

Errgh, the springy ones end up with bent axles pretty fast if they're handled very often, so best make sure the kids don't get that one.;)

Heh, no risk of that :P

And this one seems a little different anyway - it doesn't seem like the axle itself is bending like on the old Hotwheels I used to have, I'm suspecting that this one actually has little springs buried inside somewhere as there's quite a lot of travel and it's very smooth. I mean, I'm still not going to bounce it up and down the whole time as it's basically going to live in it's box, but it's quite a cool feature.

Majorettes have some sort of suspension system.
Instead of the axles being bouncy they put two more bendy rods on in the car, so they basically cover the axles in a 90 degree angle. So it's not the axles that bend it's the two rods.

And even my older majorettes, that took a lot of abuse still bounce perfectly.

To give you guys a little break from that pesky C4 I decided to share some of my majorette buys with you. :)

First I got this pretty nice Volvo truck.

It even opens at the back.

Volvo no.2

A Hummer

Any idea on what the Volvo and Hummer are? I'm supposing, that they are meant as support vehicles for rallies like Dakar. Atleast that's my guess.

I also got a Rally Toyota Corolla

Toyotacorrola.jpg

And I got a majorette Citroen C4 rally car

Oops Did I say something about a break from the C4?
Hehe :sly:

I am by no meas as familiar to it as I am of the die cast scene, so any good info about it would be quite valuable. And yes, I know they are worth quite a lot, alas, I bought mine for usd 9 or so.

I wouldn't know how much it would be for postage, but if you really want them, let me know right now so I can go chase some down, both in short and long card if you want; heck, if you're gonna pay postage, get 5 or 6 of them so it's worth it. Or do you want to check out what I have available for sale or trade? I have several early to mid 90s cars both loose and in their blister card. If you want treasure hutns, I may be able to chase down a bunch as well. I left like 20 hanging in the rafters yesterday. Just ask. It may be worth it if you're gonna pay postage. I'll try to find out how much would it be to send stuff over to Au. I think, looking at the mail web page, that the cost would go from 7 usd to about 13 usd plus the dollar for each car. Cost would go up with more weight. just let me know (:

Aaaaaah yesss, it is indeed a Mercedes as HfS said, it's a 540 K, its in decent shape, are you missing the windshield and the top, or do you have those pieces? I'm asking because you can make your own windshield with a piece of transparent plastic, heck, ir you're really desperate a cut up blister bubble might do the trick, but I'd go for the stronger transparent plastic. As for the top, I'm in the process of trying some home-made plastic casting precisely for reporducing hot wheels pieces, and one of the parts I have in my list is a 540 K top, because I also have one that looks just like yours, red paint and white walls like new but I'm lacking the windshield and top. I already have the base top so I'ts just a matter of getting materials and doing it. If I ever get to it, I'll send you a top so you can finish your project.

but as advice, I think you should unbolt the car so you can actually paint it wuihout risk of painting the tires or interior. Just drill off the rivet with a thin drill and the car will come undone. You can then redo the entire car and then put it tgether aain with a lot of techniques. I'd say pm (or ask here so we all can know) R1600 Turbo to see how he bolts together his cars again.

Aaah I'd trade... but not for the minty one, mwehehe

Hi Cano,

thanks for the information. I actually don't have the top part. And in the photos, I assembled it (with out bolting it on), just with the glass out.

Thanks for the fast response everyone!

if I ever reproduce such stuff as a 540K top I'll indeed mail one to you, bud.

This reproduction isn't worth much, but I guess the good news is that yours look bit beat up to be a recent reproduction. :D

HOLLY CRAP.

Oh got damn many many MANY thanks. Any more info on the original maker of this, which, by a quick Googleing aroud, I have found to be made in Spain by Clasicos Paya?

Man, you indeed know your tin stuff, I had no idea where to look for when I got it, and you came up with answers incredibly quick!!! man THANKS a lot!!!
