Its a "Ribba" shadow box frame. 20"x20" and about 1.75" deep. The insides are 1/16" thick illustration board that has taken several hours to measure and cut. Exhausting to say the least, and I still need a few more.

Yeah, it really does look good. May have taken few hours, but we all enjoy projects once in awhile. :D

This is it, right? I have a small diecast & couple hot wheels on my surround receiver, but I'm usually not into displaying diecasts? I might copy you on this though. Maybe with a smaller frame!

I'm not going to be hated for posting like 40 pictures of what all I (and my girlfriend) got today, am I? I plan on keeping the preview images small and all grouped together. :scared:

Edit: Oh well, I'll take my chances. :ouch:

Well, here is what all I and my girlfriend have gotten yesterday at Big Lots, K-Mart and Walmart. Don't ask me where I got which ones because I don't remember.
I shall start with the ones my girlfriend got, errr...the ones I bought her. :P
There are a few surprises in these. They appear at the bottom. :)

The 458 and Phaeton are 2013 models; an interesting variation on the One-77; and a Treasure Hunt of course. :)

For just starting to collect (jee, I don't know where she would have picked that up. :P) she has a very good eye and I am immensely proud of her.

Now for my acquisitions. :)

The 2002 is to customize, as is the Charger for its distasteful fire department theme.

I'm impressed by K.I.T.T.'s proportions; and my 458 isn't a 2013. :grumpy:

Bread Box is to customize. I'm planning a nice two tone paint and a drag car wheel setup.

The only S2000 like it I saw. Is it special?; A future collectible Blazer; And one of may favorite cars of all time in which I also plan to own someday, a GMC Typhoon. :D

I apologize that they're all setup weird, they weren't like that when I previewed the post. I may fix it.

Haha don't change the photo setup, it looks cool. :D

I see you've found the 2013 black interior 458, nice! And not sure if you were being sarcastic or not, but that blue S2000 is definitely special. It's a hidden $uper Treasure Hunt. All in all, seems like you had a good day. 👍

BTW Jason, I don't need anything in return for the Datsun. Want the loose Rover as well?

Haha, no, I was entirely serious. I figured it was special, but I didn't think it was "Buy It Now $30/winning bid $45" kind of special!

Picking up Treasure Hunts without even knowing

If you see rubber tires, you know it's special. Grab those immediately.

Sure. Hoping I can find a mint blister one too.

Thanks!

Even though I'm sure this has been discussed at length before, I feel like we need to have a die cast photo gallery sub-forum in the same manor as we have a Photomode gallery sub-forum. It would make things so much more accessible.
I'd love to look through all 8,769 posts to see what others have, but that's just not realistic.

You got it bud. 👍

It would've went to my little cousin, so it's saved now. And some guy at our Kday snagged up every Mars Rover and Minion Pig in sight.

Everyone calls him Matrix, due to the fact that he always wears a long black leather coat and some black sunglasses. You guys would get a kick out of this guy. Too funny!

I'm sure a diecast photo thread can be started. I've just started on a diorama, so I'd contribute as soon as that's done. I'm all for it. 👍

It took me extra long to type this, because my hand and elbow are all bloody from taking a much expected slam on my board about 2 hours ago. Spinal area took a good scraping also. I look so awkward right now. :dopey:

Curse you guys with K-Marts in a close enough vicinity... :grumpy: Mine's about two or three hours away up in northern Maine... Unless I'd end up to go down to New Hampshire instead for their k-day. No tax....

Awesome display case R1600! Love it! 👍

As of current, I still haven't been able to find the Bentley. I shouldn't be so obsessed with it, but I just....want it....badly. It feels just as bad as KITT for some reason.

We don't actually. Hot Wheels is too much of a niche topic here, nor does it relate to Gran Turismo enough.

That looks awesome. I want something like that to display my customs and restos, only that. I wish I could find that stuff over here.

Its the $20 frame on the bottom row, second from right. Despite the photo they only come in black. Then you'll have to get illustration board from a craft store.

Hi guys, here's some of my hot wheels. I have to get 90% of my collection from ebay as Singapore mainly sell mainline only. The watermark is my nick on Hot Wheels Collectors.

@M-POWER_FTW Remember the guy you were drifting circle around with a SC430? It's me, dead_ducky.

This is gonna be one loooonnnnnggg post, maybe longer than Cano's post of pictures!

First of all I'm actually jelly of all those card that everyone of you got at K-Day!!!! Black 458, Nissan Titan, Dodge Chargers and....... ARRRGGGHHH!!!!

Well I hope I can get to the next one in November though.

Quick crappy cell phone pic. Some cars are not centered, working on that now...

It's looking quite well Jason, I like it. :)

Now this is starting to give me some ideas racing around in my head since you posted that link from another collector who use the IKEA frame for his display.

I'm thinking of centering it around in a Gran Turismo theme, mostly based from GT4's GT Mode menu with each car from it's country and manufacturer (i.e. Japan - Nissan - Skyline Hako all the way to CBSR35 GTR.) Which means, I need at least 100-150 spaces for each car (including cars that I want to find e.g. BCNR33 GTR, Holden Torana, Porsche 914-6 and older cars like the Miata, Cossie Escort and 300ZX.)

But the main problem is finding a frame box that can store that much amount of cars and I may need about seven (Japan/S.Korea, USA/Australia, UK, Germany, Italy, France and Custom cars), so I need to find a 25"x25" or even a 30"x30x frame or design one. So I'm weighing the pricing of buying one or make one.

And how many cars you have in total with your 20x20 frame?

Yeah we do, one of our members who share enlightenment with HWs and photography. He is a veteran collector next to Cano. He's known as Harry aka Photonrider. He has a thread devoted to photography and dioramas creations for HW, MB and other scale cars as well. It's in the Photography section in the Rumble Strip.

Edit: do'h!!! Someone beat me to it! :dunce:

Sounds almost close to a Albert Wesker to me though.

I want to rule the world with a vast collection of Hot Wheels beside the T, G, Las Plagas and Uroboros viruses! I will be a God!

Unfortunately, that's the only way I can get Hot Wheels...

And whenever I get to travel overseas, this happens.

Welcome to the group! :)👍

Woah! I'm with Cano on this one, that's a lot of cash right there with those cars. After hearing some if the other members and their outrageous prices on a Hot Wheels car in other countries. But if you can get them somewhere else cheaper that's still a good way to get into the hobby though.

As SVX and VSpec have mentioned there is a thread - in the appropriate subForum, of course - that would love to see your photographic genius. Please free to use it as much as you wish - I personally, would very much love to see your creative genius. ;)
As well, you can share your tips and tricks, as well as learn how others go about their Die-cast Photography.

Thanks SVX, VSpec, for the heads-up. You guys know your GTPlanet

BTW - Welcome to GTPlanet, McZach - and kind regards to your partner. 👍

The link again - in case you missed it in this express-train thread:

No no, still, most of those are veeeery expensive. I mean, even if you had the chance to buy them first-hand, that would STILL be a lot of money. Nice stuff.

I need to get into the RLC stuff, but then again most of the time you find them blister-packed, and I couldn't bring myself to open such cars. Not the ones I'd like to get, at least.

Basic cars cost USD$3 and classics cost USD$8 here which makes RLC stuff more reasonable to buy.

Almost everything in Singapore is marked up from 20%-1000% above MSRP :/
The smallest houses/apartments (750 sq ft) start from USD$300,000. Even cheapest brand new China-made cars cost at least USD$50,000
The only thing cheap here is food which USD$3 would get a proper meal.

Singapore has median salary at USD$2000 and a 40% tax rate.

I need to get out of here badly...

Oh yeah, hey! Welcome to the thread. :)

Nice rides. I had that T1 Drag Bus mail in, but sold it for some much needed cash at the time.

Here's a somewhat better photo. *Somewhat*

Also, it's been mentioned that there will be a Datsun 510 WAGON in the 2013 Boulevard series, based off Jun Imai's personal car which looks like this:

Edit 2: Here's your first regular "TH" for 2013.

New additions from Target and Toys R Us. :)

First two are for the girlfriend because I know she would like those. And I don't know why I like Bone Shaker, maybe because of its grille.

Vairy 8 is for customizing; and look at what I got SVX! :D

The only Fast Cash's I've seen lately have been red and grey, so I snagged this one in a hurry.
I finally broke down and bought an M2 lift two pack. And it was only $5.99! They're screwed together, so that makes it all the easier to get those deep wheels off.
:mischievous:

That Hachiroku says "hot wheel(not 'hot wheels')" in Japanese.👍 really made me chuckle I can't wait for the 510 station wagon, but I hope it's not as 'busy' as the real life car(though 'high-speed leaded' in Japanese is cool lol). Who am I kidding, they tend to go overboard with that stuff, don' they?

P.S. Sweet cars, McZ! :)👍 And Jason, your display is the nicest I've seen around. Great job!
