Not that keen on american cars, but some of those look well cool đź‘Ť Thanks for sharing.

Sorry about the double post, but I have successful repainted my first car!
That being said I could have done some things better... for example using a better masking tape for the stripes. :ouch:

Please tell me what you think!

Looks okay to me, I'll hopefully be doing some repaints in the near future too so when I do I'll post them here!

My latest acquisitions - a Corgi Porsche 911 Carrera, and a Realtoy Porsche 996 GT3. Both bought at the weekend market nearby.

The photos don't do the GT3 justice, it actually looks quite nice. I prefer the Carrera though. Not sure why it's sponsored by a company's brand of tinned peas, but it's irrelevant anyway as it'll be getting a repaint in the same shade of green the GT3 RS used to be available in (Signal Green, I think the shade is). I've seen the real car painted that colour and it looks fantastic.

Incidentally, I'm quite tempted recently to start picking up some of the crazy 60s Matchbox-Lesney models. I love some of those old Jetsons-esque interpretations of what cars would look like in the future.

Does anyone know if Matchbox/Hotwheels/someone else has a model of the Honda CR-Z in the pipeline? Or if they ever did one of the original Insight?

HondaInsight.jpg

I'd be really interested in getting hold of either. I suspect a CR-Z is more likely but you never know, there may be Insights hiding somewhere.

Looks good Maj!

Cars must yet to have this year:

- Gallardo LP560-4
- Ford Focus RS

Found this one tonight while I was cleaning up the hotwheels area at my local walmart. I pulled it off one peg and placed in on another. Took a second glance at it, and went "huh".

How odd :odd:

Took a few photos tonight for an article I've just finished writing on diecast miniatures. If it gets published I'll post it, but until then, here are some of the photos :)

The vintage at the back? A Rolls Royce Silver Ghost Coupe.

And a model I bought a fair while ago, a racing Ford Anglia:

Don't tease.
Matchbox?

Tease? I prefer to think I'm being realistic as I have to dig them out from somewhere at the back of this lot.

I see some pretty good stuff here, but nothing I don't have... that's why I want pictures of the old Matchboxes, hahaha

I've put together everything else that I could easily lay my hands on and taken a few more photos. I'm sure there's a few amongst this lot that you won't have.

1. Matchbox 'Models of Yesteryear' Gold State Coach (YY66).
2. Matchbox 50th Anniversary Chevy Bel Air & Caddilac Fleetwood.
3. Matchbox 50th Anniversary VW Beetle & 1933 Ford Coupe.

4. HW Black collection - A selection of black Rat-rods in a homemade case.
5. HW Showcar Collection - A selection of vehicles in a homemade case.
6. HW duplicates that didn't fit on the pinboards, and 3 promotional Majorette vans with candy advertisments.

7. A Matchbox FJ Holden bought in Australia, and a 1:43 scale model of a Toyota 7 won at a UKGTP a few years ago.
8. A selection of loose vehicles - mostly HW, with matchboxes at the front, and an unidentified van dug up in the garden.
9. A selection of loose Matchboxes, mostly from the late 1990's. A lot of these feel cheap and no more sturdy than an aluminium can! The Corvette has a painted plastic roof, the car top-right has a painted metal windscreen, and the truck bottom-right has no interior. Little wonder I stopped buying around this time period.

10. A couple of price guides from my collector days - dated 1995 and 1983, so slightly out of date now!

I love the cheesy 90s colour schemes on those last Matchbox ones :D I remember having a green Nissan 300ZX with pink and yellow stripes all over it, good times...

For anyone interested, I've written an article on the joys of scale models here:

You can afford that Veyron...

Nice article, HFS. đź‘Ť

I went to the local Wal-Mart today. Nothing really jumped out at me, but I picked up 3 cars nonetheless: an orange Matchbox Lotus Evora, a black and red '69 Firebird T/A (Hot Wheels), and a red Speed Machines R35 GTR. Since it's summer vacation now I may just get around to posting pics of all the new cars I've acquired. :D

Some cars gotten lately. Most of the speed machines were today. Lots of personal favourites for me in this lot as it is all the stuff I was having a bit of trouble getting. Finally got a MC12 but it is in the post.

Also finished the Lotus Elise/Exige collection I have. The new ones are Yellow, Dark Green, Dark Green (S1) with the lights and the black with green stripes. If anybody knows any other ones let me know as I think I covered my bases (for the S2 elise/exige).

Forgot to take photos of the Kyosho's I picked up but next time, hopefully I'll have 1-2 others I'm after then too.

I remember when I was a little kid, there was a Hobby Shop down the street from me and they had the Match box display case with every car that was available. I wanted every one of them, those were such wonderful times.

oooooh that attic looks so primising! I'd gladly help you clear it out... if I wasnt a couple thousand kilometers away.

Aaaah, for starters, we never got the 50th anniversary Matchbox set over here but I'm fully aware of it's existence. In fact I forgot one the other day in e-bay and was bumed when I saw it went for like 10 dollars. I wanted to cry.

As for everything else with the exception of the collector books and the coah, I have all of those... or did see them back in the day but did not like them and let them pass. However, there is one that I dont have, and it is quite the pain to remember that I DONT HAVE IT. The Alfa Romeo race car. Ugh.

Thanks for reminding that I have to lay my hands on it though.

And J-Pap:

Can't remember what I've posted here last and what I haven't, so I'll just go with the flow...

A car I've had for a while, but only dug out for photos fairly recently - a gorgeous blower Bentley. Loads of detail, can't remember who it's made by though!

Couple of Porsches I bought recently, a 996 GT3 and a Carrera:

Again, had it for a while but only brought it out recently, a tuned Ford Anglia:

Finally got an Elise...

DSC_0225.jpg

And my most recent purchases, a brace of MG 1100s. Mint and boxed, these can go for up to ÂŁ60. I bought the pair for ÂŁ3.50 :D

One will get a sympathetic restoration and bits will be mixed and matched between the pair to bring one to the best conditon I can. The body of one is clearly in better nick (though both will be getting repaints anyway), but the underside of the one with more paint is broken (nothing rear of the back axle, including a missing bumper) so the other will be getting the best treatment. The less chipped car though has the better interior and given that the tow hook is in one piece on that one too, that's the interior I'll be using. The more chipped car has the better glass, so I'll be using that as well.

Note the dog sitting in the back :P The model has a driver too. This is what it should look like:

The other car, made of all the more damaged bits, is something I'll probably have a bit of fun with. Might turn it into a classic racer or something.

and I bet one of my livers that they are both Matchbox's Models of Yerteryear, or at least Corgis.

And srew you on the pair of MGs, that putting salt on the injury. Why?

I am STILL waiting for a small package to arrive which contains a small lot of minty regular wheels Lesneys, includig that one and a Lambo Miura with chrome hubs and steerable front wheels. But the package is lost and more than a month has passed. I hope they arrive.

In the meanwqhile, be careful when you open it up, you could crack the metal.

I have some stuff you guys might like
First off I would like to show you a 1:43 kyosho BMW M3 GTR from Turkey.
Yes from Turkey.

IMG_0231.jpg

In reality it looks darker. It actually really suits the car. I would still like a silver one though.

And I also got some maistos
(store restocked yay)
I apologize for the differing pictures. Although I didn't touch my cameras settings it decided to make a different picture every time, but the lighting was atrocious.

First off

mmm I love the casting details. Could use some more tampos. For example red lights at the rear.
All in all I really like Maisto. They make cars I really like and are the cheapest small die cast I can buy. Too bad about some regular detail lacking or bad wheel choices.

Aha Maj.. Those are Maistos. Thought you said the quality is bad

Actually some of them are bad. Especially with my Camaro SS because the rear seems to be a bit too low. I prefer Hot Wheels with more details...

My serial number is MAYA409942. Seems like I have the older one :P

I did not! I merely pointed out, that their wheel choice is often bad and that the details aren't that good.

And besides. You're supposed to look at the nice Kyosho!

Right... We talked about this personally.

Anyways, I have pointed out about the wheel in post #417. And you Kyosho is indeed nice....

That is cool as hell! I love the driver + the dog. đź‘Ť The car itself has the same characteristic old Ford Fairlane has, which was given to me by my coworker. It was out of a Lesney bundle he got off of eBay. Looks pretty beat up, but it doesn't have driver or anything in it. The Bentley is a beauty, too.

Anybody know if the Hotwheel Ghostbuster's car is still available in stores? I've been looking for them when I'm at stores, but I'm thinking I've probably missed the opportunity on that one.

@ Cano - I'll certainly be careful with the old Lesneys, I can see from the one with the broken underbody already that they're easily damaged. It only has one rivet though, incidentally - one at the front. At the back, it's actually held with a little tab. Presumably once I've drilled the front, the back can just slide straight off. And as the other one is broken, that'll come apart even easier.

@ Supersquirrel - Very nice. Is the painting and transfers your own work? Or did they come like that? I've seen Hotwheels do a Civic R, is that the model?

It's still available. According to Mattel, it's an expensive casting to make, so they are not making very many of them. Having said that, I know collectors that have found tons of them, and I also know collectors that haven't found one at all. I have a few of them, even passed one up a couple days ago.

Usually see them at grocery stores to be honest. Maybe because collectors hardly go there? (except for me of course)

I've been noticing the trend. I don't know if they are rarer, or what, but they often have the models I don't see at department type stores. Thanks for the info. đź‘Ť
