well, after my terrible work spree I had to come and rescue this thread from being in page two. fortunately, I had several new things to show you guys.
I hadn't visited the usual fleamarket but when I went back I scored big time with these 4 France-made mid-70s Majorettes (Mercedes, Capri, Fire Truck thing and 260Z) and the awfully done Playart De Tomaso Mangusta in blue. I don't really know why I like that brand so much, many of their cars are absolutely horrid. for USD2 a pop, they were an awesome buy.
Form that same place came this Matchbox Lesney Speed Kings 1971 Thunderclap. Speedkings were 1:43 size more or less, and this is very very complete, just dirty. Notice it's exhaust tips and velocity stacks are complete. It's very difficult to find with those intact. A steal at usd2.
New Matchbox crop at Wal Mart. That Porsche is awesome, as is the GMC Schoolbus.
I also opened a couple of mid-90s blue card Hot Wheels I had lying around because I didn't remember if I had these with these wheels. Turns out I didn't, so off the blister they go.
Then, this saturday was the monthly get-together of the Hot Wheels Mexico Club buds, and I got some pretty cool stuff from there. The Porsche 928 is a late-70s Tomica and is almost mint. The Pinto is from Motor Max and has superb detailing and rubber tires.
Some regular Trasure Hunts... finally the 1955 Chevy from last year fell in my hands.
Some basic, mainline cars, the Monte Carlo is incredibly awesome!! The Porsche is cool too, but...
Once I took it out of the package I noticed that it's taillamps were really, REALLY off. Minus points for Mattel quality control. I'll have to buy another and customize this one.
More Hot Wheels. A mid-80s mistery Ford Fairmont which we still don't know if it's Mexico-made, a couple of recent Cobras, the minty yellow Buggy is a Shock Factor that I had when I was a kid but turned it to shreds, so getting it back was cool, and a really weird red... thing.
Brit attack: The Alfa Romeo SZ brothers and the Mini Ha Ha -that will see restoration/customization- are from Matchbox-Lesney, the Le Mans Austin Healey is a Corgi.
And now the stars!!!! Two very difficult to obtain Mexico-made cars, the Aries Wagon and the incredibly rare Hare Splitter (VW Golf MKI), which also was the strong buy of the night at almost usd20.
And the other stars... a guy brought these 1:72 Skyline models from RealX, and I traded him two vintage Hot Wheels for these four; all of them have separate plastic headlamps, ruber tires and multipiece construction:
The Hakosuka GTR is cool with correct paint and wheels:
Then the 2000GT as a cop car.. can anyone tell me if this is a Tokyo police car?
The R31 is awesome in black/red with correct wheels:
And finally, a very correct R32 which also has separate transparent plastic taillamps.
Aaaaand that was my week. I cannot complain even though I couldn't go to the Mexico City Official Collectors Convention due to heavy work. I'll go next year.
