*WARNING, LOTS OF PICTURES AHEAD*

So I've been taking pictures of cars I have for trades. This is how my loose mainline cars are stored.

I'm pretty sure I'm doing it wrong, but how do you guys do it? My nicer cars(Boulevard, Garage, Johnny Lightning, etc.), I keep them individually protected in a fishing tackle case. :dopey:

Mine is practically the same, except for the ones I buy brand new, those get put on display carefully.

See:

I thought I would show you my collection:

[CONTAINER NOT USED NOW GOES HERE]

I also have a big container of cars seen here

Space wise, this a very good thing to get. It holds on to your door!

Someone did something like that, way, way earlier in the thread. :P

Here ya go!

Hi all! My first post here :)
After reading all the pages of this thread:drool: I couldnt resist getting some hotwheels.
I picked the Nissan GTR and a Scirocco. As both cars are related to the Nurburgring, I tried to make a little Nurburgring using rFactor textures and some polystyrene.

Sorry for my bad english and crappy low res pictures :ouch:

You are making me nervous, but I look forward to it. Before I was collecting, basically, any little loose toys I obtained, I just tossed them in this 9" x 9" x 5" (rice cracker)tin can. Now that I've been collecting for awhile, I want to prevent paint chips.

Here ya go!
That is very cool. 👍

I'm putting together photos of cars I have available for trades. I realize it's a long shot for this particular instance, but I figured it would be a handy file to have on a standby. :D

Yes! Finally another person starts photo documenting their cars!
There was a couple FE ones at the meet tonight. Probably sell for 50 cents...

Get those for me :D

So glad I got my FE Veyron at the flea market for 50 cents, loose. Although R1600 got a better deal. Wanted one so bad and never thought I'd find the FE...in a plastic bin dumped with a bunch of other random cars.

As for loose mainlines, I've got mine on display...but the display shelf is...open air. So they've gained some dust unfortunately. But at least they're not really dumped in a bin. :P

a6m5, I want your Tomica NSX-R and Choro Q MKIV Supra, RX-7, and MKIII Supra. :P

Interesting chat on the Bugatti. As AOS said, it has been caught in a crazy cycle the last year or so. Whether it was the fact that the casting has been retired, or because it is an iconic car, the demand started increasing. And as you know, as soon as a lot of people want something, everyone wants it.

The fact of the matter is that it is a poorly executed casting. My guess is if the current team of designers tackled it now it would look much better. The best looking of the bunch is the Walmart exclusive in satin red, and because of that is probably the most sought-after. And it is funny to think how many stayed on the pegs for months when it was released.

Here is the Walmart Veyron in a post I did awhile ago:

http://lamleydlm.blogspot.com/2012/06/lamley-group-model-of-day-2010-hw.html

The fun thing is to speculate on which model will be the next to take the path of the Veyron and skyrocket in price after being pretty common. Although it may not be the next one, I would guess the R34 Skyline First Editions in silver and blue. As HW JDM gains in popularity, getting the silver Nismo version will be a must for new collectors, and they will start pushing the price. And then the current collectors will see the demand, and start pushing it more, and the cycle will once again commence.

Most people looked past the R34 when it came out, so I think it is a logical candidate. Of course I could be dead wrong, but it is fun to speculate...

I have a loose FE Veyron (red and black), i didn't realise they were in demand until i read 'Lamleys' blog. 👍
I had a blue and silver (in package) but i gave it to my nephew.

[EDIT]
I was thinking to myself today, how cool it would be if Hot wheels were to do a cast of the MGB, also i'd like to see them do a MK1 Ford Escort.... Really gutted, as today i went to purchase a 'Polistil' MK1 Escort on E-bay (rare as rocking horse poop) but somebody beat me to it.... Wouldn't be you would it Cano?

I see your dilemma. I, too, would've thought on that for a bit.

EDIT: Took pictures.

First, three opened cars that I got from the Grocery store earlier today. Boulevard Firebird and two mystery cars.

Really wanted the MR2, was happy to get the others as well, though.

These are all of today's purchases. Both the Grocery store and the meet.

Nice cars! I'm really jelly over that SW20 MR2.

R1600Turbo
Yeah, I cringe at the fact I paid $8 for it, but as I said 5 cars for a total of $10, plus making money on the sale of the Veyron = priceless. :P

Sell a Veyron..... Get $$$$. It's call making a profit. ;)

Greatest Celica of all: The First Edition, with the original, and very true to it in fact, Pikes Peak winning paint job:

All others that came after it are just VERY wrong. That casting should have never been used again. The same for the Pikes Peak Tacoma. They should have been commmemorative or Millen's wins. The subsequent paint jobs on all of them are atrocious, to top it off.

So, I grabbed the 55 gasser today and a red bird, finally.

Man that Celica 👍! I was gonna buy it back when I was a kid, but looking for other cars, I forgot to get this car for my collection.

Gonna find one soon.

a6m5
I have that! I don't know how, but it's one of those loose cars that I've had for years. I have no recollection of how I came into possession of it. Probably stole it from my baby brother.

Ummm... Grand Theft Hot Wheels anyone?

R1600Turbo
I notice that on my releases that come out to resemble a real car at first, then after that they go in weird directions. I think that might be part of Mattel's deal with the licensing, that they have to create it the way it's supposed to be for the first release, then after that they are allowed to do whatever they want with it. Which isn't always the best thing...

Same here. But I usually see more than one official color on some of the cars now than before (i.e. The Bayside Blue R34, Silver Clearcoat and Orange 302 Laguna, Laguna Seca Blau on the E92 M3 etc...)

Same with me here. My older cars are in one of my old shoeboxes and the newer ones are on my shelf insid their packages. The collector cars are in a box for future safekeeping or for trades/selling. :)

Stopped at my local Target, still stuffed with C-case cars.

Then I got all the way home and realized that I forgot to buy batteries for my camera. :dunce:

I look forward to seeing what you've got. I'm a particular fan of movie and media cars, especially Batmobiles. But I'd have to be pretty dead-set to trade for the BMW I think. Might just have to surprise me with something.
Here are the cars I have for trade:

Numbers written are the "high" dollar figure I came up with as the suggested value of the cars, and they are not the prices.

Loose cars in the second pic(clockwise): HW Furai, Carls Jr. Green Hornet keychain, ??? T-Bird keychain, ??? VW

Beetle, MBX Seagrave Fire Engine.

From the third picture(clockwise): HW Garage Torino, JL Cuda, JL 63 Corvette, JL Cuda, HW Ground FX, HW 959, HW Cougar, HW 850i, HW Testarossa, HW Super Bee, Garage Cougar(sold), Garage C6R Corvette

Excuse some weird mix in there, but you never know what people might be interested in. :P

My loose cars are stored in a container just like SVX... except stacked neatly and packed full.
How do you stack them neatly?
Yes! Finally another person starts photo documenting their cars!
Just the junk I want to trade. :D
Do i see an NSX-R and an MB F40?.. nice

[EDIT] How dare you! let other diecast rub their bodies over the (HW) CRX and 70's (Tomica) Celica race car.
Wow, you got amazing eye. I'm like what Tomica race car? I finally see it now! That MBX F40's the busted up one that I bring up, once in awhile. Even when upside down, you see it's missing a wheel. Right side up, it's even worse. :P
a6m5, I want your Tomica NSX-R and Choro Q MKIV Supra, RX-7, and MKIII Supra. :P
I have a red Tomica NSX in there, too. :P My Choro Q's

Interesting chat on the Bugatti. As AOS said, it has been caught in a crazy cycle the last year or so.
It came to my attention when I just started buying Hot Wheels, which I think was about two years ago. I ran the very few cars I had stowed away on eBay search. I actually like the casting, but I'm no expert, obviously.
Most people looked past the R34 when it came out, so I think it is a logical candidate. Of course I could be dead wrong, but it is fun to speculate...
I think it's a good guess, as supply seems to run pretty low on those cars. 👍

I'd buy couple of the Escorts for sure. 👍
Ummm... Grand Theft Hot Wheels anyone?
Only if I beat the crap out of my brother to take it. :P
Same with me here. My older cars are in one of my old shoeboxes and the newer ones are on my shelf insid their packages.
I think we should figure out a better way. You never know how chips might affect the value of cars that may not be worth anything today. That reminds me:

This Tomica Nissan Diesel truck's probably not worth very much. It's from when I was a toddler, and I did a fair job of damaging the paint job. :D

IMG_1512.jpg

I ran the search on eBay just for heck of it. Only two sold recently, both in mint condition, and both over $30. $30's nothing, but when these little cars are worth that, you get a real kick out of it. :D
Then I got all the way home and realized that I forgot to buy batteries for my camera. :dunce:
At least you gotta a bike, so you get some free exercise! :dopey:

P.S. That Garage Series Cougar, you still want that, right?(in the third thumbnail pic).

8 5 and 4 for me!

Edit: Just to clear it up, I would like the Bronco, Rover, original Batmobile, Batpod, and the dark red Ferrari in the right photo.

I can trade for them. :D
I'll be open to that. We should all just create a pic file of cars we want to trade.

There are few cars on my list that I'm not looking to "get rid of" though. This whole thing was spurred by my attempt to accommodate a possible trade for the BMW 850i Snaeper just bought.

Edit: Do you guys usually use "delivery confirmation" on your shipments? I usually prefer it when I sell something on eBay. Insurance seems more hassle than they are worth, as hot wheel cars aren't worth very much.....

Wow, I totally wasn't expecting that. So the licensing for the Veyron stopped? That's fairly interesting. The funny thing is...

...I've got two Veyrons!

Both are the same I think (blue and silver), but the first one I bought brand new (fairly worn now) and the other one, like Medigo, got bought second hand in a bag of cars. I can imagine they'd be worth much, but in the long run, they may very well be. :dopey:

That seller, FX Toys... they always ALWAYS come up with amazing stuff. I have them as a favourite seller just to see what they come up with next. I've learned a damned lot just by looking at the stuff they sell.

Late response, but agreed. They've got amazing loose lots up presently.

Are the hideous Mystery Veyrons valuable? I have many of those awful white/silver/bluish ones. The first year the mystery cars were out, I think 2006 or 2007, the veyron was available. At that time I was massively into track building and I knew several of the cars would do well. Those Veyrons though, awful, and nearly every other one I opened was one. (or a horrible black/green/purple lowrider truck thing)

EDIT- Just checked eBay and folks are paying $6-9 before shipping for them. I'll have to add them to my sell bins.

Not sure why I went to TRU or Walmart but I ended up picking up a few Hot Wheels.

'69 Mercury Cougar Eliminator (Orange with Goodyear)
'73 Ford Falcon XB (Yellow) which is probably one of my favorites
'08 Ford Focus (Orange) - Reminds me of Block's random different color wheel
'68 Plymouth Barracuda Forumla S (Purple with Mopar)
'66 Chevy Nova (Neon Green)

Edit: Missed spell!

Well hey now! I've been wanting me a KITT and Vintage Batmobile, and the Bat Pod looks awesome, too.

*Gets to thinking about this*
Bat pod is the bike, right? Yeah, think about it. Is the BMW loose or still in packaging?

An MGB would be awesome, and I'm actually kind of stunned that they haven't already done one. I think they should do a race car Boulevard one to complement the TR6 and 914.
