Some nice cars there Jason, but no Civic eh?
All us Aussie's are always putting our pictures up upside down for all of you in America, even though you are driving on the wrong side of the road and only
carfanatic45 has the decency to put his pics the right way up for us. Thanks for doing that

Wrong side of the road!? We drive on the
right side of the road, my friend.
Not less rare on its own, but compared to HTF variation, probably. Most likely. Almost certainly.
To be fair, they are highly sought in the market partially because they're generally hard to find, but also because there's a popularity demand and that, from the way I see it, shouldn't be factored into deciding what is scarce. My original point did not even speak about its premium, it was comparing scarcity between the two as "rare items", so no it ain't apples & oranges in that sense. And again, who's to say there wasn't an employee scalper? Lots of things could've happened.
I'll bet you if more people passed rumours around (it doesn't even have to be true) that there's some really really rare HTF variation, the moment someone finds one, they'll list it, tell everyone about it, those people will tell their friends and now you've got 30 watchers set on finding this one thing. Same idea applies to $uper THs... every now and then you'll come across certain $upers people will label as "VHTF", but then I want to know how in the world they are so sure about that. They probably didn't ask Mattel, nor did Mattel release that sort of information. It's all guessing between other online members of the collector community by reporting back their findings. Hell, for all we know, there's less $TH 599XXs because those who have it don't want to sell it and more of the other ones because no one wants 'em! It could very well be a car made in even lesser numbers, except that sellers who stocked up on it hoping they would find business is stuck with 'em.
By the way guys, I'll take a measure on the tote next week when I have time. I've scrambled up a box of things to give away so you can expect results in soon!
Well, you are right about the demand contributing to the scarcity of the Super Treasure Hunt, obviously. If it's purely about scarcity, while availability online may indicate errors & variants are harder to find, you have to also factor in that number of people who collect the limited edition/chase models versus error/variant are not even comparable. Just like how popularity contribute to scarcity of the Supers, most people are not even looking for errors, which do contribute to those cars not finding its way on to eBay auctions.
If I had to guess, I would wager that error/variants can be more rare than Super Treasure Hunts. Having said that, I still think it's apples to oranges. They are two different types of collectibles in the hobby, and whether there were 10 produced, or 10,000, it all comes down to demand. Now take off,eh? Hoser!
That's pretty cool, nice find. I have not seen it around here. I think the price tag on them is a bit steep most of the time, but I'd probably pick that up. Also very cool that the rear hatch opens.
I agree with you on the price tag.
I also saw bunch of cool Greenlight & Johnny Lightning at Toys R Us, but GL's are $6 like they always are, JL has now gone up to $5, so I passed on all of them. If they look perfect to me, I'll happily pay $6, but for "kinda cool", I won't spend that much anymore.
On the M2 VW cars, I came across bunch of Beetles, but just one Microbus, so it seems to be harder to find. The newer Beetle they make(looks 60's, or 70's), I hope they re-release with different color soon, because you'd buy that, too. Best Beetle hot wheel car I've ever seen!
