Edit: Thanks Johnny, but you totally caught me off reporting Jason on his *double posting!

*I guess not double posting, per se, since I posted in the middle.

Yeah, I was more confused than a pig in front of a treadmill with the double post part.

Random note to @R1600Turbo - Today, I had this customer who started telling us about his Mustang collectibles. He started talking about these Shelby hot wheels he bought whole bunch of, and now they were worth $20, $30 or something in a short little time. All I could think about was "My Datsun's worth over $200, you noob, and I don't even have it yet."

That was pretty good. Sorry about that.👍

I don't know if it's the new forum or my computer, but I click the Reply button and the little loading bar comes up in the corner, and loads, and loads, and loads, and then does nothing. If I click it again, it posts twice. :grumpy:

^ Don't click it twice then. Click one, wait a minute, refresh page.

I found two the other one I opened didn't have a mark on it.

Yeah, then just keep it. I have a EF Civic with black ink all over it. Tried to sell it for only $5 and no one bought it. I'm keeping it for good now.

these Sunburnerz

'56 Merc dabes, yo. I have that one too. :)

Crap I got here too late. I was out kicking people's butts on Street Fighter.

Anyway, the month is over, @a6m5 @Cano. Let's tally up how much we've got in the month of January. Here's mine:

http://athobbies.blogspot.ca/2014/01/diecast-monthly-additions-january-2014.html

47 cars. 44 if we exclude the cars I modded or will mod. I'm legitimately surprised. If I was going to attempt 300 cars per year again, I've already done 1/6th of that in 1 out of the 12 months I have left to get through!

I hear "don't do that" on a daily basis. Sometimes non-stop, repeatedly.

I'm disappointed, but if you were using Ryu, I may be down.

I'm not playing this game. I think I bought about three cars.

I use Ryu's flippin' master.

And boo for not playing. :( I forgot there's 2 more. I took pics but haven't put them on the computer yet.

Flickr is 1TB of space and unlimited bandwidth for FREE. Doesn't get better than that.

Picasa allows you to adjust image resolution down to the pixel. Bet Flickr probably doesn't. You can take the URL of any of the photos I post, change the "s700" to something like "s200" or "s1280" and the size changes.

Shame it's loose, but who's going to hold onto a ginormous multi-pack to prove legitimacy of a variation anyway?

Good stuff.

Well, they only come in multipacks so far, so not like I have a choice. I trust the guy, and only I need to care if it's real, don't really care what anyone else thinks. It's my collection, not theirs. ;)

That is true, but let's not forget it does affect value in the end. It will matter in the event you choose to put a price tag on that one item, like it or not. To illustrate what I'm saying, the earlier variations of hot wheels could've been forged pretty easily. The "No Chrome Bar" MR-2 or "No side tampo" Miata could've easily been a regular with said tampo deleted. That would explain why the value (on STD) plummets tremendously when it goes loose. That's all I'm getting at.

2009 Valentine's Cars - Target Exclusive. Finally.

Well it is pretty common knowledge that the value of a car drops when you break it free of the packaging. Not really news there. And I've already sold tons of loose cars, some with rare variations, on eBay and not once had someone ask about its authenticity. Starting to think the only person that worries about that is you.

Alright, so I had a trip to Walmart this weekend coming up had it not been for the start of the second semester of the school year being moved to Monday because of snow days :grumpy:. Therefore, a trip that would have killed two robins with one boulder (school supplies and cars both at Walmart), now will be reduced to a trip that will only be for school supplies. :banghead:

Looking ahead, however, its a blessing in disguise (not a very good disguise) with the upcoming Hot Wheels Collector Event at Kmart and my quest for the 20-for-1 Chevelle. :indiff:

And since you guys are talking about loose cars and their lower value, I'm going to throw something in that doesn't have to be payed attention to, but my loose cars are usually bought that way, and if the value is lower than carded, so be it. If it wasn't a good addition to my collection, I wouldn't have bought it. ;)

Means people are now eligible to being fooled! Going by that, I could sell you wheel variations which for all you know may not be genuine. This contrasts with your previous statement that you only buy legit variations, yet now you worry not of authenticity. So much for consistency. :P

My lastest finds from TRU...
Sesto Elemento

Morris Mini from Italian Job

And I found two Califorinas but I hadn't noticed the car being off-set in the box so I grabbed the first one I saw. I didn't realize it until I got home, thankfuly the car wasn't damaged.

Flickr is working again. Im not going to change to any other hosting site. This is the first time that I can remember there has been any problem with and it could of been my internet connection and not a problem with flickr. Here ate the pics.

There are a 2010 Mustang GT, Camaro Z28, Firebird, Plymouth Superbird and a 69 GTO Judge.

Well I certainly had a good and rather lucky day today! :D

Went in Kit Kringle, found a somewhat overwhelming number of Treasure Hunts in there! Here are some pictures I took with my new IPod Touch I got recently:

Here is close up of them, although I forgot to get the Subaru in the picture :ouch: :

Sorry for the sideways shot. :ouch:

Here are the ones I bought:

Would have bought more, but they were $4 each. :scared:

Here some other Hot Wheels I got there as well:
image.jpg

Really digging that Hot Hubs Suzuki QuadRacer. :D

Just when when I thought my luck couldn't get any better, found this at Wal Mart :dopey: :
image.jpg

Glad I didn't buy it at Kit Kringle. Instead of paying $4.00 for it at Kit Kringle, I got it for .97 cent at Wal Mart! :D

And here are 2 Viper's I got at Fred's:

Got a can GTS Blue Pearl at Hobby Lobby and going to paint one of them with it and give it white stripes! :dopey:

God, Ben. That M2 Mustang is totally money. 👍 I'm not gonna lie, I am jealous @Sonygamer455 for the regular priced WRX Treasure Hunt. I still refuse to pay premium for it, so I still don't have it. :irked:

My visit to couple of stores today was not a total loss as I found three cars I've been after(but all pretty much mainlines).

Hot Wheels ZAMAC Chevrolet SS, '69 Dodge Charger Daytona(both Walmart Exclusive) + Color Shifter VW Drag Bus

This Drag Bus is the first Drag Bus I've ever seen in the wild. Crazy.
I use Ryu's flippin' master.
Who is that? M. Bison?
And boo for not playing. :( I forgot there's 2 more. I took pics but haven't put them on the computer yet.
Your figure of 47(now 49?) got me thinking if I actually averaged more than 1 hot wheel per day. Let's see how I did:

TTP - 17
eBay - 4
Locally - 5

I've pretty much hit the point now that I have almost every car I want......... that I can afford. There are still 100 cars I'd like to have, but am not willing to pay the going rate. I hope to slow down my purchases even more, but it's completely up to the market & sellers on eBay & TTP. I would still pull the trigger on any deals that's too good to pass up. :)
In the process of doing a trade for one of these bad boys:
I was at Walmart today, so I looked at couple of 3-packs for you, but it was no-go.
Well, my Vintage racing 510 is worth what? Half of that? So there......................

Curse you. :grumpy:
I still prefer the Vintage Racing version.... of course, money's noice. :P
Yeah right, more like three at a time.
Give or take.

I never considered loose cars before getting into real riders cars & other premium line cars. Loose cars are cheaper, and since some cars can be pretty spendy, I now sometime prefer the cheaper loose cars over carded ones. 👍

Fun fact about the Volkswagen Drag Bus: The normal version with opening metal body is too heavy to be put on a basic card, so the only way the casting would make it back in the mainline is to give it a plastic base and plastic non-opening body. I forget where I found that fact though.

@a6m5: Nice finds!

Just won this car. Probably couple of months ago, I offer this seller $3.55, but was offered a counter offer of $4.50. I saw it today for $2.99, so I naturally offer $2.55 & they accepted it. I am pleased. :P

I thought I'd surprise my nephew with a opening body hot wheel, but after learning that it doesn't even open, I think I'll just keep it. Plastic body stinks. Thanks for the tip though! 👍

I'll take one of each TH, thanks Sony. :D :sly:
Then go to Kit Kringle and get them. ;)
