I have been monitoring http://spaceweather.com for CME's, sunspots, solar flares, magnetic storms, etc., and the Sun has been quiet of recent. There was an eclipse.

Boy talk about a disconnect. That last sentence has absolutely nothing whatsoever to do with anything the sun does, anything it spews forth, anything it sends in any direction, any amount of flare material, normal or heavy solar wind; just nothing. The moon's shadow on the earth is just insignificant.

May have mentioned the eclipse as astronomers use the eclipse to study the suns corona and look for and compare previous activity. So it is to do with sun activity in that sense.

Yes, and oddly enough, the combination of solstice and eclipse have not occurred since AD 1638, according to NASA. Which year coincided with the first minimum of the Little Ice Age.

I find it all interesting that no matter what the different goverments come up with some simple way to explain all this. And if you notice the U.S. news doesnt say much about it happening all over the world. Only here in our country. Anyone else find it strange that they dont make a connection. I think people have become complacent in thinking we get the truth. I do understand that they wouldnt want world wide panic but, doesnt (or isnt) the goverment working for us?

I have 1 thing to say :)

Sing a song of sixpence a pocket full of rye,
Four and twenty blackbirds baked in a pie.
When the pie was opened the birds began to sing,
Oh wasn't that a dainty dish to set before the king?
The king was in his counting house counting out his money,
The queen was in the parlour eating bread and honey
The maid was in the garden hanging out the clothes,
When down came a blackbird and pecked off her nose!

Ouch, now check your own compases.

Shift of Earth's magnetic north pole impacts Tampa airport
http://today.msnbc.msn.com/id/40934547/ns/local_news-tampa_fl/

TAMPA — Scientists say the magnetic north pole is moving toward Russia and the fallout has reached -- of all places -- Tampa International Airport.

The airport has closed its primary runway until Jan. 13 to repaint the numeric designators at each end and change taxiway signage to account for the shift in location of the Earth's magnetic north.

2 million fish found dead in Maryland
http://www.cnn.com/2011/US/01/06/maryland.fish.kill/index.html?hpt=T2

(CNN) -- Authorities in Maryland are investigating the deaths of about 2 million fish in Chesapeake Bay.

"Natural causes appear to be the reason," the Maryland Department of the Environment said in a news release. "Cold water stress exacerbated by a large population of the affected species (juvenile spot fish) appears to be the cause of the kill."

The investigation comes days after the deaths of an estimated 100,000 fish in northwest Arkansas.

Excuse = Cold. Maybe it is I cannot prove anything.

Some of the autopsy reports from the dead birds show they have blue mouths/throats. Weird.

This is now on our uk kids news show (my little brother was watching it), this is the first I have seen about it outside links from this thread.

They say its a mystery however, an expert they had on said that in american the red wing blackbird (the one thats being found dead in america) is seen as a pest by farmers so they could have posioned them and thats spread and thats why they are dying. However they were still confused why different species were dying in europe.

So my iPhone compass makes North become West because of the magnetic shift?

That may be, but I took it to mean the eclipse changed the sun's output on Earth. My bad, if so.

Still, we don't need eclipses to look at the corona any more. We have solar observatories on the ground and in space with an "eclipse" built in, occluding the sun's disc to see the corona at all times.

Is that for real? Are the magnetic poles actually shifting right now?

The north magnetic pole is moving toward Siberia at 55km/day.
We don't know what the south magnetic pole is doing.
We don't know if the north magnetic pole is going to continue moving or not.
These polar magnetic movements have taken place many times in the past. Usually, the pole shifts a short way then shifts back to near where it was. Sometimes, a complete reversal is made. We need to stress these complete reversals are extremely rare - millions of years. The short wanderings or "excursions" as they are called, happen every few thousand years or so.

Both timescales mean that the last one would have happened before our understanding of the poles.

We also are way overdue a complete one, by studing rocks and such scientists have tracked when these happened each time and we have now gone the longest between them we have in the history of the earth.

Yes

The closure of the west parallel runway will result in more activity on the east parallel runway and more noise for residential areas of south Tampa.

The busiest runway will be re-designated 19R/1L on aviation charts. It's been 18R/36L, indicating its alignment along the 180-degree approach from the north and the 360-degree approach from the south.

EDIT:

Wow check out the magnetosphere

You may be right. And you can be sure NOAA and NASA scientists are paying close attention. The thing that grabs me is that the rate of pole shift appears to be accelerating.

We have recently had a discussion on another thread regarding any practical adverse consequences of a complete pole reversal. Firstly, and most importantly, it was concluded that the Earth's magnetic field would stay intact during the reversal. This field protects us from asteroids, harmful cosmic rays and solar discharges, and helps keep our atmosphere intact. Let's hope the NASA scientists come to the same conclusion as the GTP scientists. Any secondary effects like havoc on migratory species would be small potatoes. Electrical storms, volcanoes and earthquakes might, stress might, be issues.

Let us assume that we have a weak and floundering magnetic protection based on the nict images above. If the following makes sense then we on earth are exposed to such influx of radiation.

Terrifying scientific discovery: Strange emissions by sun are suddenly mutating matter…

http://www.projectworldawareness.co...missions-by-sun-are-suddenly-mutating-matter/

The angry sun

For months mounting fear has driven researchers to wring their hands over the approaching solar storms. Some have predicted devastating solar tsunamis that could wipe away our advanced technology, others voiced dire warnings that violent explosions on the surface of the sun could reach out to Earth, breach our magnetic field, and expose billions to high intensity X-rays and other deadly forms of cancer-causing radiation.

Now evidence has surfaced that something potentially more dangerous is happening deep within the hidden core of our life-giving star: never-before-seen particles—or some mysterious force—is being shot out from the sun and it’s hitting Earth.

Whatever it is, the evidence suggests it’s affecting all matter.

Strange and unknown

Alarmed physicists first became aware of this threat over the past several years. Initially dismissed as an anomaly, now frantic scientists are shooting e-mails back and forth to colleagues across the world attempting to grasp exactly what is happening to the sun.

I'm sorry but this citation is misleading to the point of being bogus.
Radioactive decay rates of carbon isotopes are indeed changing, but they are known to change over cycles of about 200 years. The Sun is communicating with Earthly isotopes through solar flares. The only practical effect of this is that carbon dating becomes untrustworthy. We already knew that tree-ring dating disagrees from carbon-14 dating, and know we know why.

I can provides extensive science references on this subject if you like.

Hi Dotini.

I am on a massive learning curve here. What started with the fish is ever expanding. I did consider the url and its information as to its authenticity etc but thought best leave it to those who maybe know if they are reading. It is good to hear your feedback.

I am really glad this thread is not going the religious way as I am reading so many religious responses to this mysterious theme.

If you can debunk it then thats fine by me as it gives me other areas to read and research this stuff.

Another dead fish story. But this time from August 12th, 2010. Supposedly, on August 1, 2010, one entire side of the Sun erupted in a cataclysm so stunning that solar scientists are now forced to reconsider the whole theory of the Sun.

We are being impacting by a solar wind stream from a coronal hole. Good night for aurora watching, it's going to be nice here tonight.

These two articles are less of doom and gloom of what was brought up before about the sun and possible mystery particles that may be affecting radioactive decay. It doesn't have much bearing on us humans, but it is interesting.

Thanks for those links.

To be honest if we were being bombarded with some sort of rays/radiation/energies in a way it does not need to be a bad thing.

I remember reading a theory, I think it could be einstein, I will get a link - Anyway it was about evolution and the thought that our evolution and dna changes have been because of inbound space energies, a more positive spin on it.

Fascinating none the less, I am in it for the mystery of it all.

This global plotting of recent mass animal deaths tells me something about the whole issue. It's highly connected to the areas of English language media consumption. More culturally related than to the science of bird or fish deaths.

I'm sticking with my original guess that it's merely "better reporting", as blaaah suggests. No mystery. Mass deaths of fish and birds are quite commonplace. Underneath all this there are whole species quietly perishing which probably deserve closer examination.

Anyone think this may actually be, well, normal? I have not done any research at all on this topic, however, I do know the media is extremely good at taking little known stories, (that may actually be a very common day to day phenomenon) and turn them into the next "crisis".

Just my thought on that.

I kind of have to agree.

Did anyone hear about the massive Snook kill last winter here in Florida? Chances are likely not, but it was substantial. All due to the weather though.

Also, about those birds being spooked easily...

When I was in high school, I was driving down a road in my neighborhood, in car that made no real noise, other than wind bouncing off it. Well I was passing a lot which is bordered by a house on one side, a street on the other side. All of a sudden, like some horror movie, the trees and shrubs erupted with scared black birds, so many that we had to come to a stop, because we were unable to see. They were slamming into the car so hard it sounded like rocks, literally THOUSANDS of these birds. Behind us there were 50 feet or so of bird tire tracks from all of them which had been run over, as well as birds all over the street that had flown full speed into the side of the car...

I really don't doubt blunt trauma being a big player in these newer stories, obviously the birds that hit our car died from slamming into the side of it, as well as being caught under the tires. So I'm sure trees, houses, or anything hard would kill them the same way had they panicked and flown into them.

Mind you, this was midday, not night time, so it could be even worse in the dark. It was a really weird experience, I didn't even know how to react to it.
Just goes to show how strange things can really be.
