20 million credits for free!

1) I actually think every car should be available in arcade mode. That way if you don't have a lot of time to commit to the game you can still at least drive all of the cars. But if you're asking me if they should make everything really easy to get then the answer is no.

2) I never said I wanted them banned. I simply said I won't feel bad is they do. In my opinion PD should just close the hole (if they can) and act like it never happened. No reason to punish people for exploiting a hole they left open.

1) Fair enough. Would be a solution. The only problem then would be that you still couldn't drive them with your friends online.

2) ok from your first post it sounded rather like you wanted them banned.

You're right. Like I said earlier I think if they make the economy in GT6 like it is in GT5 than that would be fine. I also think it's likely that the economy will end up being like GT5 it will just take a month or two to get rolling. I would have rather had higher A-spec payouts especially near the end (I'd also like them to lets us get paid on seasonal events more than once).

I'd just really hate to see PD ruin GT by appealing to the people who want everything right away.

Ironman,

Don't take this as an attack on you, but how would PD ruin GT by appealing to those people? Maybe PD should have a budget racer ranking or specialty cars that you can only get from budget racing.

I was actually just thinking about this. I could see maybe adding either an online portion to the arcade mode or an arcade portion to online. One that allows you to use all of the cars from arcade mode to play online (stock obviously).

That is illegal?

I don't know about illegal, but it's certainly dishonest.

A lot of people see it as justice, sticking it to the man.
I'm not sure I know that many dedicated GT players who would have this attitude... sticking it to the man? You mean those nasty people who make PS3s and Gran Turismo games?

Don't get me wrong, I agree with what @Hun200kmh says in this post insomuch as the price of in-game credits is far too high - to the point of absurdity, infact - but I will register my displeasure at their prices by not buying credit packs until they are considerably better value, rather than exploiting an aspect of the game that is there by accident. (By the way, I seriously doubt that this glitch was done on purpose).

Cant seem to work on my copy. I deleted the utility file. Tried to load the game. It wont load unless i login n update. Mine is the asian disc version. I really dont havethe time to spend hours n hours to grind. This will help quite abit if i can get it to work.

Maybe you don't see it as a grind yet, but you will. Maintenance costs also went up. The game is rigged to get you to keep paying to play.

It's not just a matter of having all the cars available the first week, either. Sony will do something about this so-called "glitch," so people are trying to cash in while they can.

Well, I don't get my money by grinding the same event again and again. How I play is by taking a car I like, and then do any events they can participate in. For example, I'm doing this with the premium Nissan 300ZX and I've already made at least 160,000 Cr. off of that car alone. That's plenty of money since I'm aiming to buy cars that cost 50,000 Cr. or less instead of the more expensive ones first. And I'm not even done with this car yet. I did have to buy some upgrades for it so it can stay competitive in the IA events, but it's a case of spending money to make money. I can only imagine how much I'll earn if I repeat this with other cars that are just as cheap as the 300ZX. It also doesn't feel like a grind since the next race isn't the same as the last.

But we'll see how things will play out.

I completely agree with you, as some of your posts were a little tardy showing up.

I have very high hopes for GT6, and expect that you're right about that two month span. But the initial reaction, "Ohmygod, no..." still feels the same, as it does require a saint's patience right now. :P

I also hope that things like this don't vex SONY and Kaz too much, but rather take this into consideration, because there are some quite valid points in this debate. Most of us aren't gleeful that we can score a free lottery win thanks to a glitch, at least as far as I can tell from most of the posts in here.

I was half awake when I was about to quit last saturday, the last day I've been able to play, and bought a couple of cars for paint chips I wanted badly, as well as one for tuning. That left me almost broke because even saving almost every credit didn't net me the small fortune required. And I hadn't even driven enough to slam into that body stress issue. Yes, I should have been paying attention to my credits, but then I wouldn't have been able to do much at all after two days of play.

This is why I'm hoping that along with PD patching a fix for the glitch in a few days, they balance the economy a little better because some of these costs are just nuts. If they made body wear like it was in GT5, and reduce basic color painting costs to that level, that would be enough for me.

I just think it would ruin GT if you didn't have to work for anything. There is a rather large group of people that really enjoy the progression of the GT games. I think most people would lose interest pretty quickly if there wasn't any structure or you just had everything at the very beginning of the game.

As ironman says, many of us are fine with the progression of GT games, and grinding for credits - to a point. The early days of GT5 were an ordeal, and this is feeling much too similar. All most of us are asking for is a sensible level of expense and grinding, something like we faced in GT4, and GT5 2.0.

This seems a common viewpoint but many of us don't play GT to plod through career mode, chasing the AI rabbit. The only time I run career mode is to fill my pot with credits to spend on cars I want to race online or use in TTs. So far from ruining the game, for me it makes it come alive and will, in fact increase the amount of time I'll spend enjoying it (as well as buying any DLC content that comes out.) Grinding for the pitiful crumbs that the current credit rewards represent would actually ruin the game for me, not the other way around. And the less said about credit packs, the better. They are a travesty, of course - I actually do dare anyone to attempt to justify their existence at all, never mind the ridiculous prices. I'll state it again - if you buy credit packs enough to afford a Ford Mk IV, that's twice as much as the Anniversary Edition actually cost. I feel forced into a corner so I happily exploit this glitch. Sony and PD aren't losing anything from me; I'm not hacking their game, not ruining anyone else's enjoyment of it, not stealing exclusive content. I'm a marketing dream consumer from PDs point of view since I've bought literally everything they've released and all my consoles were purchased to play them on. I'm a loyal fan but there are limits to that loyalty and this is one of them.

Edit - I can guarantee that if GT4 had this kind of in-game economy, with no ability to update and fix, with no online racing, people would have stopped playing much sooner out of sheer frustration.

I know what you mean. The way things are right now it's actually stressful spending money. But for now it's alright.

I have a sneaking suspicion that the body rigidity thing is a bug rather than something they added. Even if it isn't a bug though, I have serious doubts that it will stay the way it is for long. I personally haven't had an issue with paint because I pre-ordered the game and got a bunch of them, but I certainly see the issue.

Agree with 100%. 👍

I can see it now, Sony sues all people who used the glitch . 1 day later xbox does a commercial saying play xbox, we promise never to sue our customers lol end of Sony and pd
as I,m reading through ( i'm way behind i know) Microsft has it,s own history of banning hacker, many xbox 360 consoles on sale in ebay and or classified , will not necessailry mention it , but they are banned from accessing xbox livre... using the console's mac address, so that means who ever buys it is stuck.

Sony could be inspired of doing somethnig similar at PD's request

I'm on board with taking full advantage of the glitch. It doesn't gain me licenses. It doesn't win me races. In fact I still run all races with competitive cars. I simply have the option to chose whichever car I want to use instead of waiting to build up the funds to buy it. The game is still played the exact same way. Glitch on!

Ironman,

You still have to tune those cars, so your time is spent tuning rather than farming. Part of it might be competitiveness. People want to be out driven, not out car online. You really don't know which cars are the fastest at a particular PP, until you race against other people. Having the car already in your garage enables you to compare both cars.
Bravo. Couldn't have said it any better...

No, I don't say that.

I say that a lawyer deciding on how much the damages are if there were to be a case would use a similar formula.

Also this topic has many replies, but if you read my posts, I clearly state that I am playing devils advocate, particularly as the discussion is so one sided, and that I make no mention of whether I have or have not used this exploit.

I'd say such 'lawer' would be using totally wrong formula...you just can't apply the same formula to free stuff and paid stuff. People will use free stuff much more frequently than paid

This is something you can argue about.
What do you think....

Reminds me of the time when exotic GT5 cars showed up for sale on ebay. PD solved it by making those cars untradeable. Maybe now they solve this by ending with microtransactions and this "real money buys game money" nonsense.

Sony, you want more money from GT's devoted players? Give PD the tools to create and release new cars and tracks and we'll buy them!

Appealing to everyone? If you add a free mode than credits become redundant. Why would you they even include them if you don't need them for anything?

We've actually talked a little bit about ways that make it easier for people who don't have a ton of time to devote to the game to play with all of the cars they want. I suggest you read those.

Why are they suddenly redundant when a few posts ago, you were saying that they were part of the appeal for playing the game?

If people enjoy credits they will play in the mode with credits. If not they will go elsewhere. Credits would only be redundant if no one liked them in first place.

I've also read the other posts in the thread. They address something different entirely and are completely unrelated. GT (any game) should have a free mode.

After almost 3 years of GT5 gameplay (without cheating!) I had 900 cars in my garage.

Today I just completed 50% of GT6 & unlocked all licenses & saw the end video. So instead of spending another 3 years grinding, I took the easy option and did this glitch today.

Most of the pleasure i get is from driving and tuning the cars-not doing 'Like the wind' races forever.

Thanks IGN-It truly feels like Christmas now :)

A lot of people see it as justice, sticking it to the man. The microtransactions is a kick in the teeth to gamers. I think this glitch is good for the health of gaming, it sends a message. The more people that exploit this the better in my eyes. Ultimately the fault is their own, I'd not be all that surprised if this was an intentional experiment, it seems awefully convenient for something like this to show up, something so easy to exploit

Even if not intentional, they certaintly can't ban everyone and if they didn't want to lose money then they should not have left such a basic flaw in the game. People aren't hacking the files to get credits like some people did in the first build, this is just selling a car in game.

So if I inadvertently leave my garage door up and you come in an steal my snowblower, lawnmower, four wheeler and all my tools, it is my fault for leaving the door open? Same thing.
