Alonso looks very bored in the press conference.

But I'm still disappointed not to see Liuzzi on the podium.

While we're at it, how about some congratulations for Sebastian Vettel for his performance today? 8th place in his first race! :)👍

That was the first time I had watched a race full-through in some time, and I have to say I miss it. Now that Fox is carrying the F1 races, I can watch them, that is, if I'm not at work.

I had more fun watching the coverage when they focused on the back of the pack, but thats just me. It seems like they were a bit closer, and a bit more competitive.

...Although the post-race discussion with Alonso seems to be making him sound like a pansy. Get over the "block," I think he was racing like any other man should. Its called racing for a reason, its what is supposed to happen to cover your ass...

I'm wondering what will happen for the '08 Grand Prix. If it doesn't go to Indy, would it go back to Detroit?

I think we need to start considering the idea that Lewis might just win the title in his first season. Pure confidence behind the wheel, even when Alonso was trying that overtake move down the pit straight.

I would say there is a 95% chance of that. The other 5% is if Alonso pulls himself together or maybe Ferrari sprays some magic dust on their cars.

Martin Brundle, commentating on UK TV right now, has it spot on about Alonso's 'protest signal' to the pits... "Where's the beef?" He's got a great point... Alonso has spit the dummy already, and he's in the middle of a race!

Exactly. What is the deal? Alonso was just weird then. :indiff:

Big congratulations to Lewis for winning his second GP in a row, and I really really hope he wins the British GP. The repercussions that would have for F1 would be really significant. 👍 McLaren are supreme at the moment.

Ferrari, on the other hand, have work to do at the next tests.

Vettel can look back on his debut and smile. For a 19 year old that’s a really awesome effort. As he gets more experience he should be able to do good things when he steps up to F1 full time.

Meanwhile, Spyker did a great job today. Pity they couldn’t pull it together last week, or they may have stolen a point.

Vettel rocks, apparently he makes Little Britain references over the pit radio, how fantastic!

Good race, one of the best from Indy I reckon (in recent years). I was annoyed for Rosberg, he was so annoyed. Good for Webber to get some points too.

No one can stop super Lewis either.

Wow great race, had a lot of fun at the track! :) I'm a little cooked but hey that happens! :) At Touring Mars: I do have pictures and I post them in my gallery! ;) Well a couple, kind of limited on the number of photos I can put in there! See ya! :) --- Randy

The thunderstorms and rain were so bad here that I missed the last 4 laps, since the satellite dish couldn't handle the slate-gray sky and pouring rain. Just after Rosberg's exit, the picture started to go out. That's the first time in 20 years of watching the sport that I suffered a transmission failure...

With Hamilton cruising away after Alonso's charges, I felt confident he had it anyhow. I had the good sense to place Vettel as my "3rd" driver in FF1 at the beginning of the year, so I was rooting for him all day long. Good show, although now you've pissed off every 19-year-old on the planet without a racing seat, Sebastian!

Hamilton's got a 10-point lead in the championship and two wins in seven races. Don't ask me to draw any parallels to the past with his performance...because there aren't any, statistics-wise, save going back to 1950.

It sure was an interesting race. I sure enjoyed it. Then again, Speed channel's coverage of the whole race weekend was really good. It's always interesting to see Hamilton race, but if he is going to be the next M. Schumacher I think it will just get boring again. I almost stopped watching a couple years ago because it was the same thing every race. When Alonso won his first championship I got interested in it again because it was finally someone else other than Schumacher in the top spot.

So maybe its exit for R Schumacher?
After causing the traditional first-corner accident and taking two other driver with him,I'm pretty sure he can kiss that contract good-bye.

Sorry, Ralf, but you never were any good in the first lpace. Actually, on second thoughts, I'm not sorry at all ...

Great race with fantastic results. Kovi did pretty good, I thought. I guess getting replaced is a real motivation to do better.

Alonso was fantastic, and had the faster car in the middle stint. Too bad Hamilton is too fast and good to pass comfortably. He's gotta make sure he doesn't mess up his 3Q times from now on. Twice bitten, dude.

Wow, second win for Hamilton. The kid is a star. Very well done.

R Schumacher just put the nail in his coffin. Late, dude.

Ferrari battle was just as fun to watch as the McLaren battle. Great stuff.

Vettle did fantastic and I hope to see him more. Maybe, as a Toyota driver? Hope not. I want to watch him podium.

Two weeks, the French GP on Fox in HD, I hope, like the US GP. That was a treat, for a change.

…you've pissed off every 19-year-old on the planet without a racing seat, Sebastian!

Quite.

…if he is going to be the next M. Schumacher I think it will just get boring again.

Ah, but F1 often goes like this. It’s really reasonably rare to get two equal drivers in the front running car. Enjoy it while it lasts. :D

You know, I've always been a little sad that I never got to see the great intra-team battles between Prost and Senna of the 80s, as that was before my time(born in 89). But now, it looks like we may have a new rendition for the 21st century! I absolutely love it! Of course I'm rooting for Hamilton all the way cause frankly I don't like Alonso. :sly: Plus he really is such a terrific personality in addition to being one of the best things to happen to F1 in years.

He's my second favorite driver on the grid now, behind Sato(yes I'm one of the few remaining Sato fans.)

Entertaining race btw.

I think Sato just gets a rough deal. He had a bad year with BAR and Japanese drivers have never been highly successful, so a lot of people jumpd to conclusions about him. He occasionally shines though; that pass on Alonso in Canada being a prime example of it.

EXACTLY! That pass on Alonso had me jumping up and down screaming my head off! Yay Takusan! Go Satoooooo! LOL. He's still one of the best passers in F1, IMO. Today's race sucked for him though. :indiff:

Considering the Taku of old I did laugh when you said he’s one of the best passers in the sport. How many times did he retire due to crashing with someone?

Still, he’s matured a lot at Super Aguri.

Cool 👍 Sounds like you enjoyed the race!! Any pics??

I think it was a bit harsh to punish Sato with a drop of ten grid slots in the next race just after he spun out in this race...:ouch:

Sato has had a fairly rough ride. Given that the guy totally dominated British F3, he can't be that bad. He's highly rated for his use of the brakes. Unfortunately, starting off in the Jordan was the worst thing that could happen to him, because it was a total s***box, and he just overdrove it, hence all the accidents.

Nice to see Lewis win again. I was pleased to see him defend so well against Alonso. Surprised that Kimi couldn't pass Massa. I suspect that Kimi is on "cruise and collect".

Another great race i supposed. With Hamilton winning 2 Grand Prix in a row,i guess theres no stopping him becoming World Champion.I still can't believe his worst finish is 3rd......but anyways,i really am looking forward to the French Grand Prix,it could just be the place where Ferrari and Renault could catch up with the McLaren and BMW.Too bad about Ralf,he has been performing really bad this year.Hope he does find something to motivate himself......

Good race. Strong performances by Hamilton and Alonso. Liuzzi was a tit for getting in the way. "Oh I'm pitting in so I won't move over". Arse.
Not sure of Alonso's "UP YOURS" at the McLaren pit wall. The only way he could beat Hamilton was by passing him. His strategy would'nt let him.
And it shows that Hamilton can soak up the pressure. An all-round driver then.👍
Kimi needs to get some results over Massa. But I do think Ferrari will be stronger at Magny-Cours.
And did you know that Ralf is one of the highest paid F1 drivers? Why?

I'm possibly violating the number one rule in these parts, but I think Lewis Hamilton needs to retire from a race. He's done what no man has ever accomplished, and that's great, I respect him immensley for it, but eventually he will have a retirement and it will hurt (not physically, but mentally). The sooner it happens, the better because it will hurt more if it doesn't happen for a while.

Sato pulled off an amazing overtake, and spun into the litter on the next corner. And minutes later, he discovers he has to qualify in the top-10 only to start ahead of Albers. That is bad luck.

Again - great race. RTL's american photographer responsible for the filming did a grand job when he left the top alone, and concentrated on the midfield - all the grand battles and overtakes. Off course he focused on Hamiton/Alonso and Massa/Raikonnen when the time came, but that was great footage of the midfield. Too bad Liuzzi retired so late... And once more, a Super Aguri outpaced a Honda :D

I want to note how much I hate german coverage. I reckon it's just as bad with the british Hamilton-mania, but damn, the reporters were excited about 5 germans in the race. "Vettel might become the yougest-ever points-scorer!", or "The marshalls are now invertigating Sato's overtake under yellow flag. Suits us well, because now that he's chasing Adrian Sutil, slowing him down might just be what we're asking for!". Later on, the after-race chatter with Niki Lauda was completely idiotic. Lauda is extremely biased, was mad about Ferrari for their slow performance (compared to McLaren, of course), and in general - wasn't really the type of guy I'd like to watch a GP with.

Oh well - no hope for Aguri next race, thanks to an extraordinarily tough punishment for Sato. Seriously - in a McLaren, Ferrari or even BMWs and Renaults, I'd understand. But a car that struggles to pass the midfield in qualifying, I'd just save my engine and not-qualify. Or do the qualifying just for collecting data. And how comes Liuzzi wasn't punished for a pass that was obviously under the flag? The camera angle from which I saw that pass had the flag in the frame for at least 10 seconds before he passed.

Sorry, I just can't see the merit on passing someone who's struggling badly with his degraded rear tires, even if that someone IS Alonso.

It must be the hate or something :P

Lol dunno if anyone mentioned this but on the ITV F1 website they have a poll for driver of the day at the USGP and the majority vote is currently going to Alonso with 48.48% of vote and Hamilton only 19.23%.

Who was your driver of the day in the US Grand Prix?
Lewis Hamilton
19.23 % (3199)
Fernando Alonso
48.48 % (8063)
Felipe Massa
0.96 % (160)
Kimi Raikkonen
28.4 % (4723)
Heikki Kovalainen
2.1 % (349)
Jarno Trulli
0.84 % (139)

I'm liking Kovalainen more and more, he has some serious speed.

But I reckon it was tactical not to add Liuzzi to the poll, he'd have run away with it and it's not fair to teams who shelled out millions for their drivers.

Again - great race. RTL's american photographer responsible for the filming did a grand job when he left the top alone

RTL is not responsible for that. They complain as much as you. For the US GP they get the video material from the American filming crew. Every country does. It doesn't matter where you live, you get everywhere the same video material. RTL is however responsible for the German GP. They have a team of 250 men for this job. There is also an international price for the best "F1 Race Direction". And RTL wins it every year.
