Indeed, out of the three, I definitely wouldn't pick Buemi, he clearly isn't as fast as the other two and lacks the racing experience of the other two. But alas, because Bourdais doesn't have the backing, hes not really an option for a team needing money.

My latest from the grape vine- Honda and STR do a deal which sees Rubens partner Buemi at STR and Senna and Button at Honda. Just what I've been told...

Who told you this? Or rather where did you get it from? :)

So the three drivers in all of this that people generally agree should have a seat (Sato, Bourdais, Di Grassi) are not getting one?

Well he has said Bourdais is going to LMP1, considering hes an LMP2 driver he should know some truth behind that rumour. With the Swiss Press saying Buemi is close to the drive and STR not denying this says he has one of the STR seats. Also STR saying they want an 'experienced' driver to partner Buemi that leaves Sato. However Fernando has also has said that Rubens may be that partner and that leaves Senna to join Honda.

Di Grassi was beat by Senna which would seem that we wouldn't get a seat ahead of Senna. Thats my logic anywho.

Well I certainly wouldn't be surprised by Bourdais moving to full time LMP racing, many Formula 1 drivers are highly successful there (in fact, the worst F1 drivers are actually far better here) and he will get a seat with teams far more easily.
Barrichello being picked over Sato makes sense I suppose, the whole Honda deal seems a bit off really though.
I wasn't impressed with either Di Grassi or Senna to be honest, I don't think either deserves a seat right now so I'm assuming Honda are going to try and buy into the whole rookie thing going on right now with both Hamilton and Vettel being highly successful.

He said that it was just a rumour, and there are many flying round. I dont think every word out of his mouth should keep being posted though.

Calm down Alex, im just using his 'rumours' to back up what i was saying which are born from his rumours.

Bourdais was linked with LMP1 in 2006, Im not sure if anything came of it.

I would say it should be Bourdais, Sato, Button & Barrichello with F1 drives next year.

I honestly believe that any of the other drivers would result in less points gained next season.

The trouble is that merit doesn't seem to carry much weight with either team.

so why did Sato not do anything with it?

Jenson Button retired three times in the 2004 season. Sato, however, had to retire as high as six times, and he only finished out of the points 3 times that season. I can't see where Sato is a bad driver, judging from these numbers...

I've always thought Sato was a driver with such balls other drivers never had (did that come out wrong?)

Despite that talent of his, he was unfairly unlucky that year, all of Honda's engine faults seemed to show in Sato's car. I'm still praying for a Sato return, and even if STR won't take him, I'm still dreaming of what Toyota+Sato could be...

I was only questioning that season being used as an example of Sato's driving ability. I personally like Sato, but my original point was that the teams will see that he hasn't had much experience up at the front of the field, then darkfinal used 2004 as an example of a time when he was at the front - I think he had a very average year to be honest.
But anyway, in the end its down to who has the money and who doesn't.

Rubens is the only one, then, with true front-team experience at Ferrari, then Sato at BAR, while Bourdais only ran with a midfield team andthe others are either less experienced or just rookies.

Sato ran for BAR when he still didn't reach his peak, but his 2007 and the bits of 2008 driving he managed to squeeze in were obviously a lot more mature. The RTL commentators were scared to death when he passed Alonso at Canada - they were pretty much 100% sure there's going to be a crash, and judging by his reputation, in an earlier year this indeed would've been the case. Sato always had the "balls", it just took him a while to tame himself.

I feel bad for Pedrosa, indeed...

Sadly, this also means we'll see the EarthCars far more often now - not just when they get lapped.

I don't know, I quite like that livery. Nice to have a livery with few or no sponsors in the field along with the Toro Rosso's.
Ross Brawn + no Shuhei Nakamoto = win win win for Honda!

Also, it probably won't stay on next year, unless Honda really want to quit F1. Honda already canceled many of it's winter events, like the Christmas Team Luncheon and the likes, and apparently Honda F1 started firing. They said they're trying to reduce the budget by 100m$... That's when sponsors become a necessity.

Indeed, it will be interesting to see who they get because they haven't had one for a while.
The same goes for Toro Rosso after 2009, whoever buys them up will no doubt also run sponsorship.

Yeah, but Mallya said "he's not sure" later on, and rumors regarding Paffet, di Resta or de la Rosa surfaced. Just last week he said he's "undecided".

Didn't they already do that several weeks ago?

They confirmed it then they made a deal with McLaren, McLaren advised them about certain things (such as who might be good drivers to employ) and they basically considered the options and just went along with re-confirming they were sticking with Fisi and Sutil.
They needed to re-confirm it as everyone knew that they would have been re-considering their driver line-up with the promise of potential new(er) drivers suggested (provided?) by McLaren.
