We got the full range of R30 and R31 (including the diesels :yuck:)

and don't forget the 4 cylinder R32's

In Australia we got almost all Skylines upto R31 (which we made our own), then we got a limited amount of R32 Skyline GTR's and thats it.

Doesn't mean anything. That unverified time was set by a prototype. Prototype times don't mean anything next to production times.

Exactly. You know what would really be great? Stock tires. I'd love that too...

First one to put up a GT5:P pic gets a cookie!!!!!

Hm...it's a bit more bulbous then I'd expected. still, I'd like to see...and drive...one in person...

EDIT: on second thought, the profile's a bit like that long, low and mean Chevrolet Camaro.

Yes, I want one.

I'm not too keen on the front, but the rest looks ok. I'd still rather have the Camaro or a German coupe or sport saloon of some sort.

Its not the prettiest car on the roads, the "back seats" look like they're only usable by children, and you can detect some Nissan-ness with some of the interior materials... And yet, I still kinda like it. But I'd still prefer a 911 or Corvette...

:eek:So.....Many.......Buttons......

Am I the only one who feels this way?

I like it. I like it a lot. I'd still take something else. And the front could use a little work.

Its just a few too many, but its not nearly as bad as what you'll find in some Lexus or Mercedes products.

...I want to know who decided that knobs were "unfashionable" so I can stab them in the face with a pencil...

I think Duke or somebody said that they didn't like that black nose? I agree with that now.

The car looks pretty good, and it does possess that "GT-R" look. The front actually looks better than expected for me, but the black nose almost kills it(again, for me).

Like one poster said on the original message board, I'd like to see it in a different color. Black should be interesting. How about yellow? red?

Edit:

Depends. If they are switches that I have use all the time, yes. But if it's like cruise control, etc., that drivers use only under special circumstances, then I wouldn't mind. I'm a huge fan of steering wheel mounted controls though. :P

If I ever get one, I'll make sure it's the black mask edition. :yuck:

The graphics are far too fussy. They could've cleaned up the design tremendously and it would've made miles difference of the overall feel of the car. The back end is far more comfortable to look at than the front, where too many conflicting lines, especially the fender lines to the hood, make for a very cluttered design. Me no likey.

I still loved that oooold GT-R design with the Alice Cooper headlights from 05 or whatever it was. That was nice and simple, yet it was very GT-R.

Yeah, seriously. It looks like it had jawbone implant surgery and the headlights look like they don't even belong on the car with the way they made the fascia around it.

This thing better haul SERIOUS ass, or else it's going to fail big time. At least the engine looks stunning. I think the hood cut-outs are just cosmetic, though. Where the hell does the air go?

I wish they would do a Hakosuka throwback, but I have my doubts about this design studio.

It's appearance has deteriorated ever since the unveiling of the GTR Proto, but like most concept-to-production designs this is expected. Nevertheless, it's staggering performance more than makes up for it.

In the back there is one cup holder for two people. Good luck with that.

Overall I think it's a very nice looking car, although not too keen on the front windshield. I hope that interior comes in a range of colours to combine with the black!

[vomit]I can't stand it. It's hideous. Who let the Dongfeng designers loose in the Nissan studio?[/vomit]

It seems the styling is somewhat polarizing. It does look a little bloated, and I think that's due to the fact that the body's so wide and the greenhouse is so small. I thought that when I first saw the Camaro concept, too, but I've grown used to that.

I've been saying for a long while, now, that there's a lot of R35 GT-R in the way the Evo X looks, and I'm glad people are agreeing with me, now. I'm liking the VERY fast roofline, now...previous Skylines had notchbacks, but this is nearly a fastback. nearly. It's a bit like the '68 Charger: halfway between Fastback and Hardtop. Perhaps that's why I like it so much.

I'm not sure about the wing: it looks kind of short and squat, and I'm not sure, but I may hope for a wing delete option. Or a different wing.

Interior: well, who's going to carpool in a car like this, anyway? If the aim is the 911, well, let's just say that no-one's ever wanted to ride in the backseat of a Porsche other than a Cayenne. The dash layout is nice and fairly simple for a car of this price point, though I could do without an MFD. Keep those in Fighter Jets, please.

Engine: Someone put that in the Beautiful Engines thread, now. I love that they decided NOT to cover it in miles of plastic. (My big critisim of the Corvette's LS series motors are the big plastic covers on the sides of the engine) and it's one of the cleanest-looking modern engines i've seen.

Fixes?: Well, some vents alongside the main grille, under the headlights, might help the look a bit, and perhaps a spoiler that attached at the edges instead of towards the middle of the trunk. Or spoiler delete, with a nice little kick-up tail. Notching the rear profile, like on the R34 GT-R, would help the rear look less bulbous.

Soooo, Nissan....how about that Super GT car, eh?

Just wanted to let you guys know that I've merged this thread with the "GT-R Unmasked" thread.
No point in having two GT-R threads with little to no difference between the two. For future refference, please use this thread for any and all GT-R news and discussion. 👍

Btw, that Ring lap looks great. Lots of driver skill was used and just as much nerve... I haven't heard a car put down that much tire on the Ring since I saw the Yellowbird do a lap. Hopefully those are the stock tires (although I have my doubts). In any case, this is going to be a great competition. 👍

Oh, and would it really be that much of a suprise if the 7'35 was really in a stock GT-R? I mean, Nissan has been testing and developing the GT-R on the Ring for more than a decade now. I'm sure that can make a world of difference. Heck, I'm looking forward to seeing Chevy get their own R&D place on the Ring, then we might really see the Vette get nasty. :mischievous:

7:38.54 from this video but they start timing at the end of the short pit straight and finish at the beginning of it.

Sorry if its been posted earlier i haven't kept up to date with thread

Not too bad. Its hard to tell what exactly was going on the whole time due to the lighting, but it looked like they were running stock rubber. Didn't say which model of GT-R that was, or how close that prototype will be to the production version...

There seems to be some debate over how a standard lap is timed. For example, in this video, you will notice the clock starts in a different place than where it stops. And there are separate timing lights for the start and stop position.

Some people say this is the accepted norm when timing laps. Some people say this is not. Therefore comparisons to the 997 Turbo and Z06 are out, since several seconds would be omitted from the overall time.

Can anyone shed some light on the subject?

"During the industry testing sessions in which de:Sport auto records its "Supertest", the track can not be traveled at full speed past "Tribüne 13" (T13, grandstand 13) in order to allow safe access from the old exit/entrance there. Thus, Sportauto Supertests cover only about 20.6 km, which in average yields a 7 s shorter lap time compared to a full lap."

I hope this helps.
