2009 Singapore Grand Prix

lol yea thats true but with the slower guys now on pace with the faster teams im wondering how those cars will fare. seeing as a team like Force india didnt have much to show at sepang early in the season will they be able to do as well in a much harsher climate the europe where they did well at.

480KM away to be precise mate :) Though it's not that far away...
I'm going by Google Earth, which gives 286 in a straight line:

So I don't know what system you're using, but you're two hundred kilometres out. It might be 480 by road, but local climate conditions don't follow roads. It might not sound like much of a difference, but five hundred kilometres is probably enough to influence local climate patterns.

Even if it's a tropical place, what matters is the track temperature, and if you have no sun the track temperature will be lower.

Therefore the order in my opinion will be: Brawn, Red Bull, McLaren, Ferrari. Force India will go back to the back, and if lucky getting a q2. Considering Alonso's last year performance he'll outdrive his car, putting himself amonst the Ferraris and McLarens. Barrichello will continue to have a small advantage over Button. In my opinion Barrichello is the favourite to win this race, along with Hamilton and Alonso.

my logical side of the brain is thinking Barrichello but my rash awesome side says vettle who will be going all out with nothing to lose because playing it safe wont net him anything.

(and i just learned something cool holding down ctrl and preesing b brings up the bold tags along with the other letters. odd things you learn when you cant figure out why the shift button wasnt working right :P)

Being a race in a tropical country and all,i am just hoping for a big tropical downpoor in the middle of the race and make it have a podium we never would have expected!!!...

Would be a big challenge for everyone, because of the streetcircuit layout and the race being held in the dark wich eventhough the track has a million Watts of light around it ,something bizar with the light reflecting of the wet track and all....

If it stays dry,i predict Barrichello will do very well just as he did in Valencia...

we'll see...

spyrrari.

I doubt they'll run the race if there's a serious down pour.

True, that didn't run the Moto GP race in Qatar with a serious pour down, something about bounce back from the lights getting into the driver's eyes

Well I was using road distance... But I do think it's still more than 300KM... 286KM is just too short!!! But anyway, if that's the result that you got so yeah but it's in the region of 300KM...

That they do. Any news on how long the Canon deal is expected to be for, and what share they want?

Great find - I always think that those MIG stickers look like individual stickers like runners stickers!!

I hope Brawn keep this livery next year, I actually don't want them to be bought out by Mercdes and made a works team, that takes all the fun out of it.

I hope that whoever has signed on for next year will see the value in letting Brawn run the white, yellow and black like this instead of dictating the colours to them. They'll get the same amount of exposure, but I think they'll come across as supporting a team ratherthan turning a team into a commercial endeavour.

The Williams up until 93 was such a beautiful car, if they do the same colours that would be really cool. We need exciting looking cars, the ones we have today are too dull and boring.

For the same colours, they need Labatts and Camel on board too, which is not going to happen unfortunately.

That's a shame, I really wished we'd get some exciting looking cars. A few years ago it would be exciting at the beginning of the season to see the new models, but today they're all generic looking. Even McLaren used to so beautiful during Hakkinen't time.

Yeah, I liked the 97-2000 McLaren designs, especially the front wing. We still have 4 new teams to see though and hopefully a new Sauber too (maybe we will see an all Black car again finally?).

To be fair though, McLaren has always had the same livery for years on end...how many years did they have Marlboro colours?
Williams or Lotus are probably the least consistent when it comes to liveries.

Edit:
Doesn't look half bad actually:

I think in recent years the McLarens lost some of the awesomeness. The gray and black they had then was so much better. And I actually do enjoy the Brawns, they look classy.

I don't like the wheel-covers on the brawn. If they just would run with black ones like everyone does, it would look so much better. And too bad that the canon stickers are one race only, that williams livery in the 80s 90s was really good-looking.

McLaren doesn't look that good anymore since 05. The chrome is not so good looking after all. And this years car from the side doesn't look good, and that nose is very ugly. I wonder how they would look with the marlboro livery from the 80s-90s.

The most classic looking car this year is the Ferrari IMO, with their marlboro stripes and just an all-red livery. Also the car model looks the best.

And Kimi Raikkonen happens to be behind the wheel of it. :sly:

I'll admit that plays a part subconsciously ;) I'm sure, but I am a fan of Schumi too, and I didn't find the Ferrari/vodafone livery too attractive. I also like Ferrari, if you didn't know already. :D Another bit of info: I can only support a driver fully when he drives for Ferrari, it's very weird, but it's always been like that for me. I always liked Kimi already, but he was at McLaren. :( And I only can have one favourite driver, while the others are great too. Guys like Vettel, Alonso I will support very much if they end up in a Ferrari. Hmmm, passion. :P

I'm kind of hoping they'll go back to their traditional yellow-orange design, the one they now reserve for testing. Especially if Mercedes are backing out.

Found this on the Autosport forums, it's how the Brawn may look in Brazil with Itaipava sponsorship:

Awesome, good to hear about Canon returning, even if it's for one race. Let's hope they sign a deal.

It's just a shame IMO how tobacco advertising has been banned. I mean, Formula One grew up with tobacco advertising and now it's (essentially) completely gone. A sad, sad story IMO.

I'm surprised to hear about ING dropping Renault... I guess we know why, but it's still odd. Wonder what their car will look like now.
