I'm not bothered about City beating Chelsea. It's still a 12 point gap and I wouldn't mind Chelsea finishing outside the top 4 again. Besides, it'd be ironic for Hazard after declaring his reasons for joining them.

Damn, think that's Bradford 100% out now. No Chance of them winning. Hey BetVictor, any chance you'll give me my money back?

Poor Bradford, hopefully the keeper will save this and they keep things respectful. Dyer not happy with a hattrick beckoning.

Dyer was seriously annoyed with de Guzman for not giving him that penalty, I don't blame him, I'd want a cup final hat-trick! But de Guzman is penalty taker.

Swansea have dominated the game with over 3/4 possession, rightly winning 4-0. Michu has been superb, as has the entire Swansea outfit. Europa League next year for them.

And there it is...

5-0!

What is it with Norwegians and United? All of my roommates were such heavy United fans, to an annoying extent. Is it because one guy played for so long in the team? I just don't know why Norwegians cheer for two camps; Liverpool or United.

The most annoying guys are those just randomly singing the United chant in the dorm and go about how godlike this team is. It's so friggin' annoying.

Just about anywhere in the world you go, there are tons of United fans. They have had so many legendary players play for the club, it's kind of hard to miss them.

Ps. I also find United fans generally more annoying than most other club supporters.

I agree totally. Whilst watching the Real Madrid United game I was sat next to some random guy who droned on for the whole match about how United has been the greatest club ever for the past 25 years.

Haters gonna hate I guess.

I'm not hating. I think United generally plays a nice attacking game. I won't go as far as to saying it's attractive football like what Real Madrid can produce but, they have a really easy on the eyes attacking style. I just don't find their fans to be the most humble.

That's true...

All clubs have the handful of fans ruining it for the rest.

I've seen supporters from all kinds of leagues and clubs being annoying and rather stupid, also United fans.

But just because a little percentage of the supporters are idiots, doesn't by a long shot mean that everyone is.

I guess. It's not the club that made me support United, it was the history that came with it. I'll embed a video in a minute from a guy on YouTube that goes to every United game and he went to the Madrid away game with a few friends and one of them makes a really good point. From about 5:20 until about 9:00 is the point that I'm trying to make.

LANGUAGE WARNING!

I think I've said this in the past but, it's more or less because there are so many United fans in the world, the annoying acting ones are more readily available.

Well yes, as Bram mentioned, alot of norwegians cheer for Liverpool and United.

Most of them because of the history of both clubs, and also the intense rivalry.

Yeah, but United's history goes way back whereas Liverpool's history is mainly all in the 80's and 90's when they were dominating everything.

It depends. Regarding Norwegians and United, that may be the case. But it wouldn't be surprising to see people from around the world cheer for United and Liverpool. I mean, how do you choose a team to support? It generally runs in the family, but if you haven't been born in the UK, it's up to personal choice.

- Some choose the team that is currently doing well or has been doing well for the past years (Barcelona, United).

- Others, because the team resembles the one they support locally (I support Juventus because the similarity between them and River Plate is amazing, in fact, Juventus won its first Serie A title since relegation after I choose to support them). I cheer for the "River" of each country, mixing both history and honours. We have been historically called "South America's Real Madrid". But Real Madrid's present squad leaves a lot to be desired if I am to cheer for them. I just don't like the players' attitude, in comparison to those of Barcelona. Regarding honours and history, Manchester United would be more similar to River since it lacks international trophies compared to Liverpool. But historically, Liverpool has been a bigger club that United. To say that it has spent more than twenty years without winning a First Division title, and Manchester United broke their record in the 2010-11 season, after winning 12 Premier League titles says it all. Still, I like United more.

- The kit a club wears may cause you to support it. Over here, the expression "to love the colors" (love the colors of your team's shirt) is common. You cannot love your club if you don't love your colors, your kit. I love Juve's jersey, so it's natural I like them and thus have sympathy for them. The same happens with Barcelona.

- The players that play in the club. I like Messi, not because he is a fantastic player, but because he is different than the usual "great player" image we have here in Argentina, which is Diego Maradona. Messi is everything Maradona is not outside the pitch. I want to see him do well, and that makes me want to see Barcelona do well. I know if Messi leaves Barcelona, I will still want the club to do well.

- It would be good to mention that some clubs have friendship with others. River Plate has a friendship with Torino and Rayo Vallecano, and so some fans sympathize for those clubs, but generally they support the bigger clubs (Milan, Inter, Juve; Barcelona, Real Madrid).

I started to like United because of a scene from the movie Eurotrip, which had me in stitches, before I even started watching football.

We have a Premier League poll in our River Plate forum. Liverpool and Arsenal lead with 21.01% of the votes. Man Utd comes second with 19.57%. Next in line is Manchester City with 10.87%. Those who cheer for Arsenal will argue that they like the club's attempt to play "stylishly", while the other common argument is that they like the club ever since Thierry Henry played there. Everyone has their reasons to support a club. Glory-hunting should not be one.

I agree with your sentiments. There are many reasons people support the club(s) they do, and not nearly all of them relate to the success of the club.

In my experience, 'glory hunter' is a label used by supporters of less successful clubs because they're jealous ;)

Well obviously its going to be used by supporters of less successful clubs. Weather they're jealous of not is different. I've been a Spurs fan all my life, but I've never been jealous of Arsenal, United, Chelsea, City or Liverpool despite them winning major trophies from about 2003 onwards which I guess is when I started following football.

Anyway, I'm pretty sure supporting a club for its history is the definition of a glory hunter.

And then there's Liverpool fans, poor guys.:sly:

Funny thing is;

When Liverpool had the most league titles at the number of 18, they were all bragging at United for having less league titles and blah blah blah for years...

Since when after United won number 19, I haven't heard a beep from any Liverpool fan regarding this topic. Makes me smile every single time I think of it.

Ferguson was right after all. :D

Depends. You are a glory hunter if you support, say, Swansea, and support Manchester United for no reason other than "hey, we never win anything, may as well celebrate a title in my life". Of course, that changed as of yesterday!
But you are not a glory hunter if you support a successful team for different reasons, that's how I see it.

Anyways, if there's something Liverpool can brag about, is that they have been superior to Manchester United for many decades.

EDIT: I've made a HUGE mistake. I've been reading about each title won by both clubs, and actually Manchester United leads over Liverpool, historically.

- In 1901, Liverpool won its first title. In 1906, their won their second First Division title.
- Their leadership over United lasted until 1907, as in 1908, United won two titles: the FA Shield and the 1907-08 First Division title.
- From 1909 until 1946, United lead the title table: in 1909 they won the FA Cup, and from then on, the club won two more titles (making it three), while Liverpool won two.
- In 1947, Liverpool tied the score with their 1946-47 First Division title.
- However, in 1948, United won the 1947-48 FA Cup, and their leadership over Liverpool lasted until 1975.
- In 1976,Liverpool won three titles: the First Division, the FA Shield, and the UEFA Cup, once again matching United's 18 titles.
- In 1977, Liverpool surpassed United as they won four titles that year (First Division, FA Shield, European Cup, European Super Cup), while the team from Manchester won the FA Cup and FA Shield. United lived under the shadow of Liverpool until 2009 included.
- In 2010, United won the League Cup and the FA Shield. This meant they reached Liverpool's total of 58 official titles.
- In 2011, Manchester United won the Premier League and the FA Shield, thus surpassing Liverpool's 58 titles by two (60 for the Devils).
- In 2012, Liverpool won the League Cup,taking their tally to 59, still one title behind United.

Thus:
- Liverpool led the table seven years. (7 years for Liverpool)
- In 1908, United reached Liverpool's two titles. (1 year tied)
- United went on to lead the table thirty-eight years. (38 years for Manchester United)
- In 1947, Liverpool tied United's five titles. (2 years tied)
- Despite this, United went on to lead the table for another twenty-eight years. (66 years for Manchester United)
- In 1976, Liverpool matched United's eighteen titles. (3 years tied)
- Their leadership over United lasted from 1977 to 2009: thirty-three years. (40 years for Liverpool)
- In 2010, United reached Liverpool's fifty-eight titles. (4 years tied) And from 2011 until today, three years, has led the table. (69 years for Manchester United)

Total:
- Manchester United: 69 years on top of the table.
- Liverpool: 40 years on top of the table.
- Tied: 4 years in total.

And if we do the math: 69 + 40 + 4 = 113 years. From Liverpool's first title, in 1901, 113 years have passed* until 2013.

*With 1901 counted as one of the 113, of course.
