According to Jeep, the new SRT8 boasts a 6.4L Hemi V8 which gives it 470hp and 465lb-ft of torque. This massive power propels it from 0-60 in near a near Cayenne Turbo 4.8 seconds. (Cayenne Turbo does it in 4.4 seconds) The SRT8 has a limited top speed of 155mph. (Still with a little bit of tweaking the SRT8 would destroy the Turbo S...and it costs half as much. Also...the SRT8 is faster than the regular Cayenne and Cayenne S. The Turbo is it's only competitor.)

This sporty Jeep comes with Pirelli P Zeros, Brembo brakes and adjustable suspension. (There's even a "track" mode now.)

Jeep is claiming this is the most powerful Jeep ever. And with it very close to the Porsche Cayenne Turbo S in performance...maybe being owned by FIAT has it's advantages.

EDIT: To compare another vehicle: BMW's X6M and X5M both do 0-60 in 4.5 seconds and hit a limited 155mph top speed. But, again they cost about $87,000-$90,000. The Jeep SRT8 is $60,000.

Dodge is also considering a Durango SRT8 for 2013. I suspect it'd have similar performance ratings as the Jeep SRT8. Or, if Dodge is allowed to be Dodge, they'll make it more powerful and faster and bring the Fastest Production SUV title back to the US. (GMC had it first)

The noise this thing makes is awesome, and them brakes!!! The best sounding of the SRT-8s in my opinion.

Despite me hating everything about Jeep's, I can't deny this thing is epic. Sounds amazing too.

Agreed. Motortrend's 0-60 time is faster than Jeep's. That puts it only .2 seconds off the Porsche Cayenne Turbo's 4.4 second time....I'm sorry, but compared to the SRT8, the Cayenne Tubro S, X6M and X5M just seem like wastes of money.

It's still a Chrysler...

Owned by an Italian company (Fiat), built on a German (Mercedes) vehicle platform (ML) and powered by an American engine.

Well... at least they can claim it's the fastest American-engined SUV...

I still stand by this thread 'cause the other one wasn't dedicated to the Jeep SRT8. I did search, and I saw that thread, but figured a dedicated Super Jeep thread would be nice....and then I wouldn't get yelled at for resurrecting an old thread.
What are you talking about? That thread was dedicated to both SRT8 vehicles. All the information you posted in the first post is basically the samething posted in that other thread. :odd:

I wonder how the Durango would perform with the Viper's V10. Or with the engine in the upcoming Viper.

Hmmmm....

Wow:ill:. That is absolutely pathetic compared to the VW and Volvo.

Jeep's are built with off-roading in mind, the VW and Volvo are built with soccer practice in mind. Plus you typically don't buy a standard SUV for it's superior handling capabilities.

On the other other hand:
Chrysler has released a press release detailing the findings of a recent 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee "moose test" by the German magazine Auto Motor und Sport. The publication ran the Grand Cherokee through conditions supposedly identical to those in a test conducted by the Swedish magazine Teknikens Varld, which saw the SUV nearly roll over after an abrupt lane change. After AMS loaded the Jeep with a varying number of passengers and the maximum amount of cargo, it said the vehicle remained stable with all four wheels on the ground during abrupt maneuvers.

As you may recall, Teknikens Varld produced a video showing the Grand Cherokee lift up onto two wheels during a simulated emergency lane change. Chrysler responded by saying the Jeep was intentionally overloaded and even sent a team of engineers to reproduce the test with the Swedish magazine. Take a look at the press release posted below for more information, including a translation of the text from Auto Motor und Sport.

Linky.
