F1 driver dinner:

Smaller pic but with everyone facing the camera:

That is an awesome picture, although I wonder how welcomed Grosjean feels there sitting at the window

Where is Alonso? Are those his eyes poking out at the rear on the bottom picture? OR is he next to Hamilton?

I think this is correct:
Alonso - Grosjean
Vergne - Button
Maldonado - Di Resta
Hamilton - Webber
Clos - De la Rosa
Hulkenberg - Senna
Ricciardo - Perez
Kobayashi - Vettel
Glock - Massa
Rosberg

So no Schumacher, Pic, Kovalainen, Petrov, Karthikeyan or Raikkonen.

There's another table that you can see on the mirror with 6-8 people, I wouldnt be surprised if some of the remaining driver sit there.

Wow, rare to get a pic of that many current F1 drivers NOT at the track.

Someone mentioned that it had something to do with GPDA.

It's really weird to see the drivers without all the team gear...

The Ferrari is fast out of the box this week. I think a few too many people got caught up in the doom and gloom of Red Bull's resurgence in Japan; by rights, Alonso should have at least been on the second row of the grid - where he would have avoided the first lap incident - but his weekend was ruined by Kimi Raikkonen.

Alonso looks to be faster than the Red Bulls, this championship may not be over yet.

EDIT: Obviously, we don't know that for a fact, it's only FP1

10 points to the first person to spot Bernie in this picture :P

Did you see the footage? Alonso ruined his own race! Or at the very least it was a racing incident.

Yeah agreed, it's not like Kimi clipped Alonso's rear tyre for no reason. He was obviously squeezed off at the start by Alonso, what would you expect him to do, drive off the track for Alonso?

I'd say it was a typical first corner incident, with various factors that contributed to the accident (frenetic start and all, with Button alongside Alonso too, even though there was clearly enough space left by Button for both Alonso and Raikkonen on the road)

Unfairly accusing either driver for causing the incident, is just too much really...

I love how people say this is a race incident but on other crash where it's people from the middle of the championship points it's all point out to one driver.

Yes so true, people shouldn't let their bias for/against drivers cloud their judgement on these incidents.

It still doesn't look good for Alonso. That's 3 tracks in a row where the Red Bull looks very good and definitely better than the Ferrari. And now Webber seems to be doing a bit better. Vettel needs a retirement. The next few tracks seem Red Bull style.

Tom
Possibly doing high fuel runs or without DRS.

Still 23rd and 24th in both sessions with Mercedes power, I hope they are holding back a bit on purpose. A Vettel pole, huge lead at the end of lap 1 and win almost seem inevitable when Newey sorts the Red Bull out. :nervous: I'm still hopeful that Lewis can pull something special out in the last sector when it comes to qualifying though.

I think Alonso best chance for point's is gonna be India and Abu Dhabi.

Vettel seems very quick around Abu Dhabi, he probably would have ran away with it last year without the first corner puncture.

Just a comparison:

Grosjean in Spa: Drove to the other side of the track, pushed Hamilton (who drove straight from his grid spot) over the grass and ended up with a huge crash.
Alonso in Suzuka: Drove to the other side of the track, pushed Räikkonen (who drove straight from his grid spot) over the grass and ended up with Alonso getting a puncture.

More gangnam spinoffs?

I'm watching the short highlights of all the races so far in 2012 on BBC's website and wow, Ben Edwards is annoying. You don't have to scream when something happens. I miss Martin Brundle...

Ben, Coulthard and Gary just seem a little bit slow for my liking. Sometimes I'll spot something which seems quite obvious and they won't see it until a lap or 2 later or they will say something which completely contradicts what they have said only moments earlier. Martin Brundle just paces his commentary nicely, he comes out with the occasional witty comment and he only shouts when he has to which is more effective, the BBC should have at least kept hold of Crofty or Ted.
