2012 Nissan GTR [0-60: under 3 seconds]

Ring runs are always entertaining.

2014 Nissan GT-R will attempt to set a new Nurburgring lap record

World Car Fans
It has already posted a time of 7 minutes and 18 seconds in testing.

Speaking with The Truth About Cars, Mizuno said the updated model can lap the Nordschleife in 7 minutes and 18 seconds which is more than 8 seconds faster than its old 7:26:70 record time from 2009.

Mizuno went on to say the GT-R Nismo GT3 can lap the 'ring in less than seven minutes, but he wants to use a standard production model because that's what customers drive. He also saidcars like the Radical SR8LM don't deserve to be on the Nürburgring lap record list because "a car that needs its engine rebuilt after a few hours is no production car.

Ring laps are so vacuous.
Oh, and the Radical Record isn't even the official record, because this car isn't street legal everywhere. The Gumpert Apollo is, and that's why it's currently (and "officially") the fastest production car around the Nurburgring.

Very few cars are and the Gumpert is not amongst them. The Radical is legal everywhere the Gumpert is, having a full set of appropriate EU standard lights and plates in the appropriate locations (there are mandated height requirements) and meeting EU emissions standards for low-volume cars.

The Gumpert was also shipped to the circuit, as one of three, with a full support crew and ran on rapidly-becoming-illegal cheat slicks. Whereas the Radical was driven from the factory in Peterborough to the 'Ring, driven round it, then driven home - all on the same still-street-legal tyres.

("officially")

That being the other issue with the 'Ring willy waving.

They ran it on 91 octane and on an unprepped dusty strip. Why?

An older post, but Mizuno sounds a little butt hurt about the Radical being the fastest car on the 'Ring. Why else make the claim that the car needs an engine rebuild every couple hours.

It's not a drag car.
Seems to be common, though, whether it's a company's spokesman or just fans of a given car manufacturerer

Whenever a thread pops up about a car trying to set new lap records on the 'Ring, someone will go on to say the Radical isn't a street legal production car, because [insert reason here].

I wonder how the R36 will look.

we got about 4 years to wait on that

as for this new car coming out in November most likely just front rear changes to bumpers headlights wing wheels ect....

there was a recent render in a Japanese mag that although i dont usually lend a lot of credibility to it..it does share a bit of the recessed cooling duct look in those spy pics so here it is for whatever its worth

I actually like the painted nose, while it makes the car looks less aggressive it also makes it look a lot more complete. The R35 has always looked like it's wearing a balaclava that doesn't quite fit. But if there's one thing I've never got is the Nismo wheels, it's not often that I can say I prefer standard parts to Nismo kit but this is certainly one of them. They may be light and stiff but they still don't look half as good as the standard issue ones from the '12 onwards.

It's not really a surprise, the advertised it not that while ago but the fact that in can and for the badge on the front is astonishing

Shame, but he's... well... old.

Be interesting to see who his replacement is and what direction he'll take the nameplate in.
