2012 Nissan GTR [0-60: under 3 seconds]

Not that much difference for the price bump... wonder if you can buy the suspension separately... or if it's worth doing so over an aftermarket set?

Are the rear seats really that light that it would make such a negligible weight difference?

nissan claims the track edition is 22 lbs lighter than the Black Edition and 32 lighter than the premium

those rear seats are like 11-12 lbs total for everything max.... but then they are adding the quilt back and the leather bottom rails.. so im guessing net weight savings is less than 10 lbs

I love the GT-R. It's an awesome looking car and I've heard it's a lot of fun to drive. Many people say the car is missing some character to it and doesn't quite grab your attention too much but with I believe it can be very excited once you start doing some mods to it! :sly:

You know, the R35 seems to have developed a lot of character as it's been updated. Motor Trend loved it in their best driver's car contest, so I don't think that it can be said that it's a heavy, soulless speed machine. Heavy, yes. Soulless, probably not.

the 2012+ cars are way more neutral and a give the driver a bit more leeway even producing an oversteer bias at times. the 09-11's would understeer more and they would be a little more eager to correct before the limit vs the newer cars. Neither feel heavy during normal driving on an adequate track. Something like an autocross tends to be the only real place the size seems like a disadvantage

I can fully attest to this.

This as well. You need to have actual seat time to make an opinion, not just rehashing the same old cliche that has been said by hearsay.

If I had GTR money a GTR would be a serious consideration for me to buy. But that's my curse, I like so many cars. It would be near impossible for me to choose. I guess because I see quite a few around here and all their praise and I've driven a 911 Turbo before curiosity is getting to me. :P If not at least get behind the wheel of one...

So I found out from a guy I met he's taking me out in his1400 awhp/1000 torque (dynojet) fully built '13 GTR at the next cars & coffee. Thing runs 8's @ 167 in the 1/4. I'm pretty stoked.

@McNAGTROC: interesting... Still hoping to get a drive in one of those things, but my writing assignments typically involve new cars, and Nissan doesn't sell the GTR here officially.

1,400? Switzer?

He had an older Porsche at todays cars and coffee but I believe his GTR is a Switzer. Its red with a black hood, roof and ducktail spoiler. I saw some pictures and the car is gorgeous.

Its basically just a regional marketing of the new Premium Amber Red Interior option available globally but the name sort of brings back or alludes to the M spec moniker of the past.

I'm quite liking the red interior. What colors have GT-R interiors been on the past?

Worst. Edition. Name. Evarrrrrrrr!

It sounds terrible in English, but translated back into French, I bet it sounds just fine.

Edit: D'oh! Didn't see the actual picture that says "Gentlemen Edition" earlier. My bad.

Got to attend the NISMO Performance Academy at the F1 track Circuit of the Americas In Austin TX this weekend. We drove various cars from the nismo juke to the Z to the GTR and I got to test out the 2014 Track Edition.

It was great. I would say the improvements over the regular 2012+ GTR are subtle but the car definitely has the unique factor going for it

earlier in the day we did lead follow instructional laps and one of my GTR buddies there leant me his 2012 GTR to take out as i flew in and didnt have my own car. It was a very controlled type deal but still cool to drive out on the F1 track

Thanks for the news on the track day, sounds like it was awesome. 👍

Likewise, though the Gentlemen's edition might be a lame name, it certainly has an awesome interior. I really like the look of those seats and Im sure they feel just as good as they look. :D

Anybody heard something about the next GT-R (R36)?... I just saw some fakes in a german car magazine, they look like a mix between an LF-A and a 370Z...
