2013 12 Hours of Sebring ALMS

I have to admit that for some reason I more enjoy watching races on tracks I've virtually run, and I've logged many hours at Sebring in Forza. It kinda sucks that I'm not a big fan of Sebring though, I think mainly because it's as flat as a pool table and with absolutely no scenery of any kind so it's really lifeless. I also enjoy watching my Audi prototypes doing well, since they've been my go-to cars at the top end (in races for high-end race cars) in lots of games over the years.

I wish it was as smooth as a pool table. That place is a bumpy nightmare, more so in iRacing though.

Caught the end of the race, solid race, nice showing from Audi. Too bad about Risi.

Kind of sad this is the last race we'll such Euro power houses at. Would've loved to see an awesome LMP Porsche again.

Wow, that Ferrari team really choked bad. Total gag job. :embarrassed:

Audi ran a good test session.

This race wetted my sports car appetite, can't wait until the season starts next month.

I love me some Corvette, and Tommy's a personal hero of mine, so seeing that finish was quite nice indeed :)

With the recent merger of the sports car series I expect the LMP1's to return at a certain point down the road, maybe in around 5-6 years. It bodes well for the series to be under 1 banner but the DP's will slowly dissolve since they won't be competitive with the LMP2's and the same can be said with the GX class due to their lack of speed. Those cars are more suited for the Continental GT series. It would be great to see Porsche, Audi, Nissan, and Toyota all duking it out for endurance at Sebring and Daytona, along with Le Mans and the other large endurance events. I'd really like to see them come back to racing at the 'Ring. The GT cars are good, but full -on prototypes would be amazing.

To come back from a lap down with two penalties on top, and pass a Risi Ferrari in the final minutes of a 12 hour race at Sebring deserves a ton of credit.

I know teams often have a gentleman driver. Was that who was in the Ferrari at the time? Seriously baffling to me--they pretty much had it in the bag until the final bit of the race.

Regardless, kudos to Corvette for hauling 🤬

Great race. Shame that Fox decides to go with the less then ideal method it did today (because everybody cares more about that once race where everyone wrecks each other  ) for its final broadcast of the Sebring 12 Hours. I only dread what they'll do to Petit Le Mans.

That aside, enjoyed the race. Deserving winners all around, even if one of them drove for that scumbag. GT didn't dissapoint as all day I really couldn't find a car that I wanted to win.

Now I'm off to occupy myself while waiting for F1 by trying to see how close I can come to the pole times. Later and hope to see you guys for the next major enduro 👍

What scumbag? Also glad to hear the Vette's of mine won

Does anyone know where to get quality pictures from the race, F1 pictures are easy to find, but not for ALMS

Scott Tucker ;) is it bad if I watched all 12 hours of Sebring live but recorded the F1 race and skipped the first 56 laps and only watched the final two?

Well, I have failed to even come close to beating the pole times. I am dissapoint.

What scumbag?

Scott Tucker. Not sure if I already shared with you about him stealing people's money through some realty scheme and basically using it to fund his team, but thats why I reffer to him as Scumbag.

I feared I would miss just about most of the race because I was out with my parents for most of the day. When I returned home, the TV coverage transitioned to AMA Supercross at Indianapolis. I'm okay with AMA Supercross... but NOT when Sebring is on! I saw all or most of the final bits of the race leading to the checkered flag. All congratulations to the winners overall and in all of the different classes.

I did some reading and YouTube video watching on the Audi R18 e-Tron quattro. That is one very fascinating race car. We're hating Audi for winning the big races all the time. However, we're probably also going to look back on Audi as the heavyweight champs that are just too tough to take down. On the GT front, you got to hand it to Corvette, even as they took down my beloved Risi Competizione late for the win. I was extremely disappointed at DeltaWing going out early with engine trouble. For most of what I've seen, it was just another wicked and brutal day around the confines of Sebring International Raceway.

The best news of all was that I actually got to follow this race and be excited to see it, unlike when the race was on ESPN3 or something. I just wished I could have better followed this race. I still otherwise enjoyed yet another Sebring, let alone the last-ever ALMS race around Sebring.

Scott Tucker's situation kind of reminds me of The Orchid Thief, the way John Laroche used the Seminoles to poach orchids. But this is obviously way scummier.:yuck:

What a great race! Still on hour 5 on the TV, but what an awesome race to watch in person!
There is just no substitute to being there, getting hit in the chest by the Corvette's earth pounding V8 hammer, getting your ears blown by the scream of the Ferraris, those sweet sweet sounding Porsches and Vipers and the vicious sounding V8s on the BMW and Astons! God what a total cargasm Sebring is! Just love it!! Got to see Red Sonya up close and personal and gotta say, that R18 cockpit is one tiny claustrophobic place! These guys are heroes just by being able to get in those cars! I'll definitely be there to see the new era next year, bring on the USCR!!!

I might see you there next year! :) I'm going to Mosport and Road America this year, I can't wait. Hoping to do Sebring and Laguna next year, along with Watkins Glen and Mosport.. Glad you had fun though, I'm jealous.

That would be awesome Mac! And those races are pretty cool too, any race this season is gonna be pretty awesome to spectate, specially Road America with the 2 series sharing the track on the same weekend!

Wasnt it the last race on sebring ? the commentator mention something like that on tv. Like it would be nice to win because it was the last time the AMLS goes there

It's the last year under ALMS as it's merging with Grand-Am to form the United Sportcar Championship next year. Sebring will still happen, just under then new championship(and no LMP1).👍
