2013 12 Hours of Sebring ALMS

Is that a black light in the 'Vette?

That's gotta be what it is. Maybe because it provides some light without dilating the drivers eyes for the dark parts of the track?

Sure looks like it doesn't it?

Yeah I'm thinking it might be to prevent the drivers eyes from dilating so they can see better in the dark parts of the track. But still be able to see the wheel controls and things like that

That is quite brilliant.

If that type of tech becomes a standard in the other cars, the cut down on turn in accidents would be crazy. The drivers would really have nothing left to blame then.

I could definitely see that technology becoming more and more popular in GT cars, mandatory even.

In response to a post Foolkiller made:

Well I won't lie, there is some regret I have in wanting this race back on Speed (mainly because its become more Fox and less Speed for obvious reasons). I just prefer watching races on my HD TV (if I can) then on my far smaller laptop. That said, I may finally just cave in to the darn Stream thing. I just would like a stream that stays consistant and doesn't quit on me for once and actually isn't starting and stopping on my phone either.

Anyhow, bummed to see the Viper and the Z4 down many laps. I would at least love to see the Z4 get its lap back and compete for the win.

What is so special about Turn 10? John Hindhaugh keeps talking about it as if it's some sort of elite club.

Well they make a great racing game... ;)

In all seriousness, that's pretty much where the party seems to be in the infield.

I'm not sure exactly what they'll do, but I would expect they'll show highlights to get you caught up, then show the last 30 minutes or hour of the race, just tape delayed.

I just get the feeling both Audis are driving at around 80% of their actual pace... It's like it's a big, 12 hour long testing session.

I wouldn't be surprised if they were. I doubt the LMP1 cars of the ALMS can keep up, so there's no real reason for the Audis to push.

Looked like they were pushing each other awful hard for about the first half of the race, but they do seem to have settled down a bit now.

The infamous Turn 10 club, the same people gather there every year. I posted a documentary of it on the first page of this thread if you're interested. Race ends in just under 50 minutes from now..

Roughly 11 seconds between the Ferrari and the Corvette... setting up for a great finish in GT.

The one thing I'd be worried about is that the 2012 car is in front, without the updated aero of the 2013 car. Which doesn't bode well for the WEC and Le Mans when you think of it, but then again, maybe they're just not pushing the new car quite as hard.

Thanks Fred and Mac. đź‘Ť I just tried to view it but it's not working, for me.

Agreed, I don't see any reason for them to push hard. They've got the win in the bag, it just depends on which one of them will actually win it. How close are they on track? They don't have any competition, not even in class. They must have put a few laps over the other P1 cars throughout the course of the 12 hours, too.

It's like a few years back when Peugeot were in contention, they both used it as a massive testing and practice session for Le Mans. But with no other manufacturer to push them, they can just take it a little easier.

The Audis are 5 laps ahead of the 3rd place Rebellion. And Milner still looking good in the #4 Corvette. Wolf doing a great job in 3rd with the #17 Falken Porsche as well.
