Was sort of expecting to wake up and hear the news of Moyes's sacking but it didn't happen..
Don't worry, it'll happen on Thursday morning, after we lose 1-2 at home.

Hah, who am I kidding? We won't even score.

Cant see us winning after yesterday, my loyalty to him is seriously being tested right now, I just don't think he knows what he is doing and I think this job is too big for him..

If they don't give him enough time, like, 2-3 seasons then they run the risk of spiraling out of contention for anything altogether.

Yeah but if he was managing Barcelona and they had a season like this he would've been sacked at Christmas...same with Real Madrid, Bayern, PSG, Juventus....

Not necessarily. Changing the manager after 26 or whatever it was years is not something any of those teams will have had to do I shouldn't think. It's a completely different transition to anything I have ever seen at least in my lifetime. Yes they need to improve but Moyes needs time and thats something United fans will just have to accept.

I agree that they just need to give Moyes some time. If they change managers as often as Chelsea, I wouldn't complain because United will start having a lot of poor seasons :)

Yeah give him more time... so they continue to struggle. :sly:

Seriously though, I'll give him benefit of doubt and see what players he signs in the summer. And if they have a bad start next season, then he definitely needs to get sacked.

Going by some of the logic in this thread, Ferguson should have been sacked when he finished 11th in his first season.

Well, you know, they are in 7th and that's the worst thing ever. It's positively a crisis to have won 50% more games than you've lost and have a +12 goal difference with the fifth strongest attack and fifth strongest defence in the league.

It's not the results that are worrying but rather the way they have come about.
Watching Manchester United play slow, predictable, out of fashion football for most of the season is a shock to most of us and is bound to lead to reactions of the kind we're seeing.

The post SAF period was always going to be difficult, I just don't think anyone could have imagined it would be this bad.
It goes to show how much of a key man SAF was and how much he meant to the team.

Moyes and Man Utd will come back and challenge for the PL, CL and domestic cups soon enough.

Well if you believe what you read in the papers he has had a falling out with Giggs over 'negative training sessions', it is a back page story on todays Mirror but its not on Sky Sports News, BBC Sport or on Twitter so its most likely to be complete bollocks..

Just seen on Twitter that he can be sacked if he doesn't finish in the top four for 4 out of the 6 year contract he has signed...I think that's a bit confusing

Also the fans are saying that the Chosen One banner at Old Trafford should come down and be replaced with something else, I definitely think this should happen...should have gone up in the first place!

Incredible game at Wigan, they were 1 nil up at the hour mark, then an incredible run of 4 goals in 6 minutes between 82nd and 88th minutes it's now 3-2 to Wigan. Yeovil even went 2-1 up.

3-3! Unbelievable.

Meanwhile, Wednesday have inexplicably thumped QPR...

But for a couple of useless results this month (losing 2-0 to Yeovil and a last minute 1-0 defeat to Wigan), we'd be in the top ten (and FA Cup Semi Final) and within sight of the playoffs. In fact if we carry our post-Jones form on to the end of the season, we'll be in the playoffs. Which isn't bloody likely.

Just goes to show how good the squad is when they can be almost the form team of the division for four months (Leicester, Burnley and Wigan are the only teams better) and how bad Jones's leadership was that we were rock bottom, with only 1 win in all competitions and we still haven't got to the point where we've won more than we've lost...

Sheffield Wednesdays result is massive for Brighton, so is the Yeovil one as well come to think of it, keeps Brighton well in the thick of play off fights.

Personally, I think he needs to see out the full 6 year contract.

Liverpool fans have very kindly made Manchester United fans a replacement banner...

This is hardly a new thing at Man U.

The last couple of seasons the football has been like this, but the results have been OK as someone in the squad has had a good season, scored a few goals and covered up the underlying problems with the midfield.

Anyone could see just how bad things were when Fergie recalled Scholes to the squad and when Giggs is still playing at 40 years old... both of them were fabulous players in their day, but aren’t anywhere near World Class and wouldn’t get in to any of the other top teams in the league.

Personally, I think Man U are screwed for the next few years.

Rooney, Mata, RVP, DeGea are the only players out of the squad who would have a chance of playing for another top 4 side, and the whole team needs completely rebuilding. The question becomes ‘is Moyes the right man to carry out the rebuilding?’

If he isn’t, best pay him off now and move on.

But then the Glaziers will need to find £10-20M to buy him out of his contract, whatever it costs to buy a new manager out of whatever contract he currently has and then shell out £150M on new players... could cost them £200M. Not sure if they want to invest that given lack of ECL for at least 1 season, and likely more given it will take the new players some time to gel (as per City/Spurs, when they bought virtually a whole new team).

DeGaya? Really?

You sink that low?

Not deliberate and corrected in the OP.

Still, have things got so bad for Man U fans that it's the only thing you would choose to take out of my post?

Cheer up, things can only get better 👍

No, I imagine they will get even worse tonight.

It's a transition period for the club, much like Liverpool had after Rafael Benitez - and look how that turned out.

I was about to say, they can very easily get worse. Man United are still in the Top 10 in the Premier League. That is really really good when you think about it. They could be in NPL1 or 2... ffs

I was being sarcastic :D

Things can clearly get a lot worse yet, and I suspect they will.

The main problem is Fergie – Moyes is his appointment, and everyone knows Fergie hates to be wrong. Having to sack Moyes so soon in his tenure will be very painful.

It's a transition period for the club, much like Liverpool had after Rafael Benitez - and look how that turned out.

Liverpool have been through a number of transitions following almost 25 years of stability under Paisley and Shanks.

Firstly there was Fagan, who managed for 2 years until Kenny took over in ’85.

Then we had what were now clearly transitional periods with Souness and Evans in charge before some stability under Houlier and Benetez.

Then another transition with 1st Hodgson and then Kenny.

Hopefully we’ll see stability under Rodgers, but who knows given the life expectancy of modern Premier League managers

There are a lot of potential similarities between Liverpool’s demise over the past 25 years and what’s happening to Man U now (and what happened to them between Busby and Fergie).

Long may it continue ;)
