I fancy Rossi for the win again today, and who knows a title fight seeing as Lorenzo is out fo a few races and Pedrosa may miss this race?

It's good for the championship though. A strong result will put marquez right back in contention and help crutchlow and Rossi join the tail end of the fight.

Shame Pedrosa isn't racing today.
He was going well in the championship so far, allbeit by Lorenzo missing out and I was hoping he could only stretch his gap in the championship but this fractured (not broken) collarbone will surely put a dent in his points.

Here's to Rossi winning today! :sly:

I am not sure how it's good news for the championship when #1 and #2 in the standings are out with injuries .

Great moto3 and moto2 races today. This circuit, and Aragon are magic for tense racing.

Yea, it's always great news for the championship when #1 and #2 in the standings are out with injuries

It can turn a two way battle back into a three way battle. Funny that you object to my comment but don't seem to object to the raft of celebrations whenever vettel has a retirement. Like Silverstone for example.

What has Vettel to do with a discussion about MotoGP? Also, top marks comparing Vettel retiring from a race with a broken car to broken bones of Pedrosa and Jorge .

Well done Aleix Espargaro - running 3rd on a CRT at the start was quite incredible. I'm not sure where, or in which team, but he deserves a factory ride next year for sure.

I think Rossi rode a safe race today knowing he would probably bin it chasing Marc and Cal, Marc and Cal were opening the throttle very early and drifting up to the kerbs. In a championship this close at the top DNFs decide it not pushing it for a few extra points. The injuries should bring Cal and Vale into the championship battle but I hope it hasn't ruined things for Dani and Jorge, after Laguna there is a long break to Indy.

His bike is fast for a CRT in a straight line and his bike visibly had a lot of grip, I'd give him Bautista's bike because he's only looked impressive since he jumped on a CRT.

EDIT: Just looked on wiki and he's had one podium in his whole MotoGP career.

bitter, much?

Not bitter at all.

Again with the rolleyes... Vettel has nothing to do with motogp, but I didn't see you object to all the posts on gtp (or any single post for that matter) celebrating his retirement from a race. Or even those wishing him to retire from a race so their favourite driver can catch up to him in the standings "for the good of the championship". Which brings me on to this post.

This is terrible news for Yamaha and the championship :grumpy: 👎. Even if he comes back in 2 weeks, he won't be fit enough to compete for the win, which means he'll have a huge points gap to make up by the time he is fit. What a shame as the title race was shaping up beautifully.

That was posted immediately after Lorenzo broke his collarbone. At the time, it was assumed that he would miss a few races, which in your opinion, was bad for the championship. Now his closest rival has also had to miss at least one race due to injury and we now have a proper three way fight for the championship. Now I don't wish injuries on any of the riders (and remember that I am a Lorenzo fan), but we now have three riders close together at the front with Cal twenty points behind Lorenzo. Before that, it was looking like a two horse race. During the time I've spent at gtplanet, I've never heard a single person complain about a championship getting closer. Quite the opposite in fact.

Well, there is that sticky thread that says it's against the rules to wish injury to a driver, or in this case, rider... and being happy about the injuries is pretty nasty too. What's the big deal about having a 3 way championship fight anyway as long as there is at least more than 1 rider with a chance at the title?

Which I never did.

and being happy about the injuries is pretty nasty too.

Nor did I do that... Why on earth would I be happy a rider was injured? Especially one I support in the first place. If you think I said either of those things then I suggest you go back and read my posts. I said no such thing.

We now have a three horse race as opposed to a two horse race. Can't believe people are taking issue with my comment. Especially when you consider some of the crap that gets posted on this very site without so much as an eye being batted.

OK... with both main Spanish stars out because of collarbone injuries (done that before but falling down stairs and I was five), Laguna will be interesting. Marquez and Rossi are not the only guys with a shot for victory. Keep a eye on Crutchlow, Bradl, or even Bautista. The Ducati is STILL way off the pace so I can't put either Nicky or Dovi into the mix, sadly.

I think Ducati can win with the right weather on the right track, Sachsenring is a really bad track for them, they can't really utilise their straight line speed and the bike's nervy front end is really exposed through corners such as the waterfall. I can't imagine Dani being fully committed if he's back next week so I expect the same 3 riders to be on podium as the last 2 races, I think Rossi will win at Laguna because of how he held off Stoner in 2008 and because Marquez has never raced there.

My though. Anyhow when you consider the fact that Dani was out of this race, things are starting to looking good for Lorenzo and his hopes of retaining the title.

Looking at Moto2 though, Redding should be glad for the 5 week break as it gives him some extra time to readjust in time for Indy and championship hopes.

Well, I for one can't get tired of watching these:

Thanks guys!

Redding should go well at Indy, few sweeping corners and hard braking areas. I think he batted with Pol there in a 125 race many moons ago
You are right though, Pol is catching too quickly for my liking.

Hayden leaving MotoGP for WSBK?

http://www.superbikeplanet.com/2013/Jul/130710owb.htm

Not that I have anything against Hayden leaving(as he is would be making a business choice), however I would really find it disappointing given how awesome he has been in MotoGP. In fact I still believe if he was still with Honda he would've at least have another championship title to his name.

I read something about Ducati not extending his contract for next year but didn't know he was going to leave MotoGP to go to SBK.

Who's going to fill in the spot at Ducati then?
Frankly, I hope it's not going to be Crutchlow. Results-wise, he'll be better off staying with Tech3.

Back in june there was talk of Redding signing with Ducati and doesn't come as a suprise given the fact he was given a private test last year.

Well, I've been a fan of Nicky Hayden since his AMA Superbike days. I'm sure he'll be just as solid in World Superbike as he's been in MotoGP- even including his amazing 2006 World Championship run.

Well its official, Hayden won't be with Ducati come next season:

JohnBM01, I very much agree with you that even if he goes WSBK, he'll be just as good. Still though it would be disappointing to see the former champ go especially when you consider how passionate he has been about the sport and premier class itself.

Overall though I find hayden leaving to be a blow given the fact that it might be a very long time until we see another american champ.

A bit disappointed about that - Hayden wasted a lot of years on the Ducati, but a move to WSBK would give him the chance at more silverware.

I hope Crutchlow does not go to Ducati, even though he has said he wants a factory bike. As Dovi is discovering, one may land a fat paycheck, but one will also land midfield mediocrity on that dog of a machine.

Agreed, Ducati can even beat honda, Yamaha Satelitte teams. All money aint good money just ask Nicky Hayden.

On another note Lewis Hamilton & Dani Pedrosa get the most bad luck trohey x3!

I think Ducati are putting more of a factory effort into the panigale next year. Which is needed as they are going 2 seasons without winning the WSB which has only happened once before since I was born (serious anorak knowledge) so Nicky may find a good bike there which he deserves if just for his commitment to the tractor he's currently on.
