Why not just send them home though?
When you get eliminated, you still get to do activities. When the people still competing are finished doing something (say, GT-R time trial) you'll come in after and do the same thing, just for "fun". Only the remaining contestants stay at the track.

Okay, thanks for the clarification :)

I wish NISMO offered a non runflat stickier tire, see if it could pick up a second on the lap. Impressive time non the less. The 918 is just ridiculous, the price kind of warrants it, but still the thing is a lethal weapon on the track. Two things that stuck out, how fast the Z/28 ran and how slow the Audi R8 plus was.

they didnt motortrend used 91 for the Leguna test. my guess is it is going to come in 1-1.5 sec quicker so a low 1:35 sec

GTR seems effected more than other cars when running anything under 93. Shame they couldn't have 93 on tap somehow considering the high performance cars they test.

they said it was the fastest they ever tested but didnt say by how much.. so at least there was no comment about low boost or limp mode. so it might have have affected it to badly since leguna is not a huge high HP track. if they would have ran 91 on the VIR car where you are seeing 150mph what twice a lap? it might be more

but it did kill those acceleration #'s.

ive been told this and a few early reviews have mentioned it..that the larger turbo is a bit laggy down low but the top end power is greatly improved. so you take that with the low octane on a non drag strip surface and I can see those #'s I guess

but I guess that is what someone like me is for to get the best #'s

Is it just me or was Pobst lagging on his throttle input? He seemed to drive it very conservatively.

He was driving pretty conservatively with almost all of the cars when you watch the video. I'm suspecting that, with an actual fear factor involved, racing around Laguna Seca isn't exactly as easy as I think it would be based on my lap times in Forza 5. He's using a lot of the space on the track, holding gears a lot longer than I'd have thought he would. But, he's a professional race driver... I'm just a punk twentysomething with an Xbox controller. What do I really know?

The Nismo only came in 4th place this year in MT's BDC, the Porsche 911 Turbo S came in 3rd, the Alfa 4C in 2nd and (rather unsuprisingly) the Camaro Z28 in 1st.

Pobst said that the car could've gone faster on the lap, but the brakes seemed to fade very quickly, not giving him enough confidence and overshooting a couple of corners and therefor missing the apex on most of the turns, so apparently the lap we saw was the cleanest he could get the car to go.
In terms of the drag race I think Carlos pretty much sumed it up correctly, the Turbo may be down in power, but it's lighter. And the Nismo GT-R also has more downforce now, so it's even more hindered in terms of top end speed, which always seemed to be a big problem of the GT-R.

Why did they even bother with the Golf and the Fiesta. They aren't even meant to go fast on straight line. Also I'm surprised that Camaro with 505 hp lost to M4 and almost got beaten by i8.
Because its Motor Trend's Best Drivers Car competition. A driver's car doesn't have to be an expensive super car that only the rich or lucky are able to drive every now and then when the weather's good.

Agreed, but then again, the 240-ish hp only have to move around 1 ton.

More like 2500lbs (1150kg) in US trim. The power to weight ratio is only marginally better than the S2000 but the car is considerably quicker. I'd put it down to the DSG. I really want to drive a 4C.
