I have a good friend who is getting one of these cars also and he has already gone down the path you are talking about. he ordered a set of carbon shell recaro sportser CS and is having an embroidery company put the red alcantara and NISMO logo on them so he will have both

Mcnagtroc, how far are you from Winston Salem? If I have to interview at Wake Forest, I want to come down for a ride. :P

pretty close. Our local Autocross club uses Wake's football and basketball facility parking lots as our courses

yeah hit me up... car wont be here until on or right after 7/31 though

Looks like a handful, it doesn't just "drive itself" as the cliche goes. Great to hear there's no understeer as Randy Pobst always insinuated for the regular GTR. The rough ride isn't surprising as this is the hardcore track purpose beast. What a monster.

no as im not totally sure how the chassis serialization works yet in general for these car.

Meaning I dont know if they are globally all in sequence( like how I think the LFA was out of 300?) or if each market gets a separate run kind of like how last years track edition got a 1-150 serialization just for the US.

There is supposed to be 200 cars total for 2015. but I dont know if US spec cars show up inline with the ones already delivered or if we get a different designation.

The car i rode in was #0008 and it was the same car that was debuted in Japan last November and one of only 2 in the US. the matte gray one had a lower VIN.

Ive been told roughly about 40+ NISMOs have been delivered in Japan. So using my car as an example if it was the first one built for the US like was intended. I dont know if it would be say #0009 if for the sake of argument that preproduction 008 was the last one built... or if it would continue from say #41 that have been delivered

I was already told that my car most likely wouldnt be 0001.. im just waiting to see if it continues on from the US spec sequence or the global.

This the white one? It's back in AZ right now, saw it in the shop before I left on Friday.

Yeah

It was probably there getting new rotors and tires as car and driver trashed it pretty good when they had it for lighting lap up at VIR

Did you see car and driver put out some terribly slow test results on it when they had it last month? They had it running 2.9 0-60 and 11.2@125 1/4 mile that's slower than my 12. I Can't wait to prove them wrong

I'd like to hear a follow up on the vin# designation in the future (to add to my encyclopedia of GT-R info). I thought the one Hoy crashed is the matte gray press car from the states since it is left hand drive?

it was RHD and had the long rectangle rear license plate area and the carbon seats so it was euro spec.

it might have been the car used in the autocar review

I saw that they brought a white nismo GTR out at goodwood today for Hoy to run... anyone watch and see what time he put down?

It's all freshened up now and I guess heading out to LA for a Motor Trend test.

I heard it was doing best drivers car at leguna seca too with them. Last year the track edition under performed there so I can't wait to see the NISMO put down a good lap. The thing about California and motor trend is the GTR is really hindered by their 91 octane tests Your talking a good 20+ hp and it pulls timing when ran hard or gets hot. They have had issues with the cars going into low boost mode the past two years so I hope the NISMO doesn't fall victim to that

If they choose a cool day to do the testing.. Or maybe morning before sun gets too high.. Nismo should do fine.

I mean If they would just run 93 octane in it the heat alone wouldnt be an issue im not sure if other supercars are as affected but that car just wont perform on 91 to its potential.

the 2012+ cars have advanced timing and ive even put a little 100 in mine before going to say the drag strip or something but I cant say I noticed much difference.

but yeah last year the combination of the two just killed that poor track edition last year in both the edmunds and motortrend tests. it ran slower than both the 12 and 13 GTRs

Car and Driver just did a first test of the white GTR I rode in and their numbers were really lackluster. I know they tested it on the east coast so it was probably the right gas but man 2.9 0-60 and 11.2@125 is numbers from GTRs 3 years ago..

Ya, 0-60 are pretty consistent with LC so I don't get it. And 11.2 1/4 is off. Its not like its down to driver skill with stick shift.

I dunno either man but I mean thats just not accurate. they did test it at VIR and honestly I dont even know where they did the 1/4 mile as neither stretch is really totally flat. If you take the NISMO out of it and just look at what at 2012+ car runs with 70+hp more for a midpipe and tune it just seems odd. I have no doubt its a 10.7 car if my stock 12 was a 10.9

What were their testing conditions and what tires does the car wear?

Not sure about the conditions not much detail as it was just a single page review towards to back of the issue.

Tires are a special version of the current cars Dunlop sports maxx called the NR1.its a softer compound with 2/32nds less tread
