i'm gonna go and say i don't like it, looks too bulky and the GTR's are already big enough. The bodykit should have been more simpler.

Having seen it in person, it's not as bulky as you think. I enjoyed drooling on it for a few days.
Haha maybe its the bodykit that make it look bulky (Kinda like when a girl asks you "does this dress make me look fat ?" ) .The basic GTR looked perfect to me, not too small and not too big.

great video

im supposed to get a up close and personal demo of one next weekend. If everything pans out I will let you guys know my thought and first impressions

OMG!! Hiroyoshi Kato!!! I had no idea they had him helping with the development (first man to run under 8 min). Super nostalgic moment. There's no doubt he's going to be the test driver for the R36. This man is a freaking legend and deserves the exposure. Before (last year), if you googled his name, you get nothing. This just further proves that the R36 will be rightfully carried out in Tomura's hands

Nissan also posted this rare photo with the video

Kozo looks, so, young .

@MCNAGTROC 👍
Grats on the new purchase, can't wait to see what sort of pictures you have in store for us when you accept delievery.

@ some other people who have the nerve to act like they should even be talking about changing a nismo GTR as if they could ever afford, drive, or know better than nismo.

Laughable would be an understatement.

Way to be blunt about it. Things can always be better. It's not like changing the wheels will ruin the damn thing. And you know, you can always change them back. Not sure if you know that, uhh, wheels are not permanent...

I've seen this car in person, the factory offset isn't all that inspiring.

this might be wishful thinking but it would be awesome if it was the car used for the last round of GT Academy. we know this car's GT6 datalogger feature is supposed to go live in June and that cant happen unless the car can be played in game not to mention the last round starts in June. Ive learned to not get my hopes up when it comes to GT6 but im still holding out there is a chance it will debut and tie in with GT academy and we get it as a prize car

BUT SERIOUSLY...
I didn't mean to be so disrespectful, I just couldn't sit by and watch anyone (without the credentials) talk about how the NISMO version of the GTR would be a better car with different wheels.

I genuinely believe the engineers at Nissan are doing their jobs to the best of their abilities and that has already proven to be at a level higher than most of the other manufacturers.
The NISMO is set to run at the pinnacle of performance and I have no doubt that changing that formula will hinder the car's performance.

Appearance < Performance

Better start my GT Academy then. LOL

That car you had some time with looks to be the same car I was drooling on a few weeks ago.

even more interesting is I checked the VIN and its 0008 the same car they showed in Japan back in November at the global debut

There are only 2 of these in the country right now. The other is the Matte gray and it is currently being repainted. The paint was damaged by people walking around at NY Auto show

so this is the only one up and running at the moment. I got to ride in it 3 separate times throughout the day on friday. we did a red line pull through 3 and into 4th down a downhill mountain curve and it was insane. for the first maybe 5K rpms it felt similar to mine but the bigger specV turbos really came to life top end and I could feel a difference. suspension was super stiff much more than mine on its normal setting when mine is in R mode

the exhaust which is a $12-14K is about 22 lbs lighter and really a work of art. the note is pretty much identical to the standard as the titanium is thicker than most aftermarket Ti exhausts that have that rasp

its one of the first specV/nismo exhausts ive seen with the color change and I was informed it came from a magazine shootout test that will be out very soon

Yep, that's the car. Was here for about a week or two, then shipped back out.

Yeah I'm actually in his old stall now. He moved over to the Chassis group and has been helping work on the new Titan.

ok yeah he is a cool guy we met a few times at the different Nissan sponsored track days. I used to get his help on my transmission settings and all that. I need to call him when I get my car. If you see him tell him Matt from NAGTROC says hello

Man! I love the ti exhaust's design. What material is the spec V's exhaust made out of, MC? Parts bin checking.

its totally Ti from the collector pipe to the tips. as you probably know this is the same exhaust that debuted on the NISMO clubsport package in 2010 then made its way to the SpecV and now the NISMO as unfortunately a $12K+ add on option. its about a 22 lbs weight savings

Forgot about the clubsport package. Will you have this option on yours? Did they disclose (or did you see) any info on where they applied adhesive/welds for the stiffness? The seats are never getting DOT approved? Is there any ducting in the rear bumper where the new heat exhaust vents are (can't tell, but they looked blocked a little in one of your pics) ? Yes, I want you to dissect your GT-R when you get it.

I did yea. It was a tough pill to swallow at that price but it would have felt incomplete with with out it

didnt get any additional info on the chassis bonding other than it seems the adhesive is applied in the same area where the chassis itself it welded which makes it 8% more stiff

seats were not approved due to lack of air bag. they thought about offering them as an aftermarket accessory but thats not looking too promising either. the decision was to re purpose the current BE recaro instead. after seeing the new NISMO Z seat im almost wishing they did those with the hard shell backing instead but then again the BE seat is a proven seat so I guess that works. It just doesnt have to pop to it the flared hard shell sportster stlye ones do in my eyes

I think its just open mesh there for general heat escape with no ducting. speaking of that the front brake ducts dont have piping to the rotors either its just a duct that narrows down and leads the air past the fender liner

I'm convinced. They have fully utilized every part from the bin to create a beast. All you need is the fenders from the N Attack package to seal the deal. Have parts from that package been listed and priced yet (OEM supply)?

I know you already mentioned you won't modify the car at all but consider this: For performance purposes there are far better seats to be found in the aftermarket. A high-end Recaro driver's seat and rail would do you well. It's a bolt-in solution. Plus, when it comes time to show or sell the car you'll have a pristine factory driver's seat that has rarely been sat in and has no wear at all. That'd be a big selling point because seats are high wear items, obviously.
