Yea I used all my vacation days earlier this year lol. Ive only got about 4 left. I dont mind a little unpaid vacation though if need be; seems well worth it :)

Silverstone takes a week, we got there on Sunday and left the next Sunday iirc, left the US Saturday night though, so yeah, it'll take 7 days.

I thought I read in one of the news articles on the front page of GTP they were talking about 5 weeks or some crazy long time. Hopefully that's not the case!

Just exhaled so big...

Well I'm trying to figure out days. Do you think we would fly there the day of, fri 23? Or the day before Thursday the 22nd?

And if its 3 days fri sat sun, do you think we will finish up sun and fly back same day or come back Monday the 26th?

Thanks guys

They got us out really quick on the final day, and I'm sure they'll aim for the same this time, so pretty sure most guys will be leaving on Sunday with those with special cases/travelling conditions leaving Monday if necessary.

That's the duration of the program itself. 5 Racecamps, 5 weeks.

I heard the t500rs is a different ball game? How you prep for that wheel even lol I use a dfgt and though I adapt well but still curious as to what to expect as I'm sure most of us have never even used it

The brake pedal will feel quite different to you. It's stiffer so you'll feel like you're braking harder than you actually are using the same amount of pressure you usually would for your own pedals.

It's paramount to at least get some time with the pedals in order to avoid first race blues and be knocked out right away while you're trying to get used to it. If you can't buy one, find a friend or GTP'er nearby with one that'll volunteer to have you train your braking foot.

I have the fanatec csr (elite pedals) on the side. How close are those pedals to the t500rs

Well might as well ask. Anyone if Florida with a t500 rs? Lol

I would expect everyone to be there Thursday night for introductions and rules ... Friday and Saturday would be racing ... Sunday is a travel day home.

The rules stated "on or around August 24th and 25th" so if those are the racing dates that's Saturday and Sunday if I'm not mistaken. Would make more sense to arrive Friday, race Saturday and Sunday and fly back Sunday night.

How do they expect a physical copy by tomorrow? Or do they mean they want a scanned copy by tomorrow? And the physical copy can come a few days later?

Physical copy says no later than August 14th. Scanned notarized copy by tomorrow. Did you read it? :) just playing.

Well that's why. ;)

They put up NEW rules for the Nationals and this is included:

Contest open to only legal U.S. residents who are 18 years of age or older as of June 13, 2013 and who posted one of 31 fastest race times in the GT Academy Online Contest or is the winning contestant during the 2013 Racer X Contest. Previous GT Academy contestants (contestants who attended the GT Academy Boot Camp in any prior year) are not eligible to participate.

That is exactly what needed to be in the other set of rules from the beginning.

I was told by Doug to arrive Thursday night for racing on Friday ... The other finalists are welcome to arrive late ... I won't mind :)

But I will say, there is one person who really deserves a second chance and I hope he can get in.

Anyone that didn't actually make the trip to Silverstone should be back in the hunt. 👍

Jason, do you have a link for these NEW rules?

This sucks. I guess I didn't make the cut after all. I finished 2 spots behind you (46th ) and I didn't get an email. I double checked and verified all my contact info was in order... :(

Congrats anyhow guys :)

Smeadows, you will make it. Although you didn't get an email, Sony doesn't know, for example, that I am underage and Let_Canada_In is Canadian. These accounts are ineligible to win. After they process the emails they sent out, a few more guys will get emails. At least I hope so. 👍

Ah, I'm just now getting to sending in my paperwork. Been at work all day. I haven't had any details presented to me yet.

Holy crap if someone goes to silverstone, you need to pay taxes on 20,000.

Thats alot of money depending on your income bracket

Why isn't carracer going? I was really hoping to meet him....

Travis unfortunately informed us during the TT phase that he has health concerns so he's being a super sportsman and bowing out so someone else can have a shot (if you were curious why his time didn't move after week 2 this is why).

Sad because he's really deserving of the opportunity but I respect everyone's decisions on these matters. This all gets very real very quickly and we all have to take a look inside to see if this is really what we want. So whoever gets the last spot can thank him.
