I'm assuming it'll be like last year where we fly in, everyone will meet at the airport and they will bus us in to the undisclosed location. Joey I would email or call Tim or Doug, and I'm assuming they know your details so they should be able to at least give you something. You might have to agree to give out no details to get that info....

I'm not flying out of NY until 8:51pm on Sunday after the event, so I was thinking of getting up somewhat early to do some site seeing. It's been almost 10 years since I was first there and I would love to look around once more.

Are there any of you guys that would like to join in for a GT Academy day out on the town? Maybe some of you know of some good food or things to do?

All comes down to the schedule for the Finals. I don't leave NY until 7pm Sunday iirc.

According to the rules we should be done Saturday evening at 7pm pst. Last year we did run a little long but this year should be done on Saturday. Hopefully there is some partying going on Saturday night!!! :)

Brian,

I'm down for that. If I get eliminated, we might get stuck at a bar, foregoing the entire venture completely, in which case you would likely be tasked with finding me transportation back to Connecticut. Thanks.

Nice post Joey. :)

Maybe you should drive into LGA and meet up with the rest of us. I think most of us get in between 6 and 7. It would surely be cheaper than parking in the city.

If people want to get together and do stuff, count me in. Something tells me a lone West Coaster in NYC will not end well.

HAHA you got it bud! I would expect you would do the same for me :sly:. I'm really looking forward to next weekend!! Good times....

FYI, I have just given my notice to Tim and Doug that I will be unable to attend this years GTA finals. That should move the 31st position to Jonesman59. If anyone knows him/her, please give them a heads up.

Good luck to all of the finalists. I hope you make the most of this opportunity.

Cheers,
Daryl

Daryl, no way! So sorry to hear that, I was looking forward to seeing/racing you again at the finals. But I'm sure you have your reasons however.

I hope you can give it a shot next year I would love to see you advance to Silverstone! Cheers!!

Sad to hear Daryl! Was hoping to see you again this year and see you get to Silverstone after the unfortunate events you had last year.

Thanks for the support Nick and Brian. I will definitely be cheering you guys on and hoping to watch you guys compete in Silverstone. I am looking forward to watching another dream come true as someone gets crowned as the USA GT Academy 2013 Champion.

Good luck to all the finalists ... Especially to the guys that I race with regularly ... You know who you are.

That's a shame. You were definitely Silverstone material.

Thanks Rich ... I feel the same about you and your skills. Good luck in NYC!
Thanks. Won't be the same without you. Think we would've put on a good show if we ended up in the same group. 👍

As for the other finalists, in case GT6 surprises us in NYC, trying running a few consecutive laps in the 370Z and see how you do after not playing it all this time. I hit a 20 flat my first time but by Lap 4, I was just under 2:19 for a race pace.

That really is a bummer. Just so everyone knows, Daryl is probably the nicest guy playing GT5 (and one of the coolest guys I've ever met anywhere) and just so happens to be Alien fast too. He deserves a shot more than anyone else, so hopefully we'll continue to see his name on the top of the boards for years to come. Been hoping to shake your hand for the entire three years that you've been kicking my ass online Daryl. I'll continue to enjoy racing with you online for now and hopefully get the chance to meet you in person sooner or later. Keep up the good work bud. You are the man.

WOW, thanks for the very thoughtful words. It's amazing to think of the friendships we all make just from playing GT5 for the last few years. I will certainly look forward to watching the finals unfold and hope that you (iamsupernasty) make it to Silverstone. I'm sure that if you make it to Silverstone, you will instantly become a dangerous threat to take the crown. Best wishes to the finalists!

Sucks I won't get to meet you Daryl.

Also geez I've got to go get blood work by Saturday. They don't quit. :embarrassed:

 Sorry to hear that Daryl. Was looking forward to catching up a bit, you put in a heck of a lap during the trial and you deserve to be there. Until next time bud...

Wishing you the best, Dan

!!!!Ok Guys big heads up!!!!!!

As you all know we got the email last night requiring a health screening to be submitted by this Saturday. I was probably one of the first ones to go in this morning. The file is meant to have 2 pages attached, a front and back. As most of us I only got the front of the quest form. I went in and I ended up taking 2 hours because the codes they hand wrote on the form are New York codes and I'm in Fl and it was different, not sure about other states but pretty much they didn't know what they wanted to be drawn. I called Robin, the number attached on the form and any other number i could see then ended up calling the doctors office directly. Spoke to a lady and she told me the problem was there was meant to be another form attached on the backside that has all the different test codes so they can know what they want to be drawn or sampled. Just a heads up for you guys going in. I called robin and left her a voicemail so hopefully she can re email you guys and attach the other needed paper. Else you will end up like me stuck at a clinic for 2 hrs. In the end, they faxed over the form needed and I got my blood work and left

Yikes... thanks for that. I have my brother in law's wedding today so I'm going in Saturday morning. 👍

Just caught up on the thread. Daryl you'll be missed. Understand that life can take presidence. Keep on racing :)

Yup, a second form is definitely needed. Here at 8am to get this done and we can't figure out what to do. Called Robin and no answer. The guy is calling the doctor or whoever in NY to clear it up. Hopefully they can help. Ohh the struggle.

Call the doctor number on the form you'll speak to a lady and have them fax over the backside with the codes to the quest location your at.. Tell them another person already went through this.

You should only be having blood drawn. I did not have to give a urine sample

We called and she had no idea what was going on at least the lady we talked to.
