If that is true, a bit of a sad indictment on RVP and Rooney!

I was hoping Arsenal would pick up Wellbeck or Chicharito. I guess Wenger well do his usual and buy some random 16 yr old no-name striker and loan then out until they are out of contract :indiff:.

Yeah if you look at our strikers now they haven't got much pace and are a bit slow on the ball. Also Van persie is Injury prone so guess Falcao would be good when van perishes out or even a starter. He will be on the same calibre as Di maria which is a plus.

Problem: Defence & midfield are ****
Solution: Buy another striker

Seems logical to me

Great signing.
Don't need him.

Still...could be worse...

They have mid-table to league one players occupying the back 5/6... Couldn't they have brought in Alex Song on loan? I'm sure he would have preferred a move to Man U and he'd be pretty much guaranteed first team football.

OK, so a more likely formation...

Whilst I see this might work turning over mid table teams, I think it would get mullered by any of the top teams. There's just no solidity in midfield - Mata and Di Maria are hardly the sort of players who will get stuck in and chase back (rumour is Jose sold Mata because he didn't think he was a 'team player'), and I'm not sure Herrera is a DM. This formation would just get over run.

@Stotty I'd rather have Rooney and Di Maria swap places, for me Rooney has always been a CM because he spends too much time defending.

Yes, that would make more sense... though I thought Rooney's preferred position was up front?

£2M more than you lot payed for Andy Carroll.

Yep, as we learnt to our cost (£20M loss), buying players at the last minute because we had money and were desperate leads to bad decisions!

£37M is a lot for someone who isn't going to be a starter.

Not convinced about Falcao, or about him being a 1 season loaner - hard to build a squad around loaners.

Meanwhile tumbleweeds on Arsenal's front. Why am I not surprised :indiff:.

Robin van Persie, Wayne Rooney, Juan Mata, Angel Di Maria, Radamel Falcao. And then the B-squad.

Yeah, good luck keeping all of those players happy. Too many cooks spoil the broth and I don't know why United are focusing so much on signing attackers when clearly, clearly, they have a diabolical defense.

I'm sure Di Maria's preffered position isn't as a CM, would be a bit daft of Man U to pay around 60 mil for a winger with the intention of playing him in the middle of the pitch but it wouldn't surprise me.

EDIT: The best formation I can think of, still looks very weak defensively but a scary front 5.

That formation will get slaughtered by any decent team... Herrera and the defence will get overrun as they'll get no help from Mata/DiMaria.

Personally, I think Mata will need to come out as he's not capable of playing wide and Blind will need to play alongside Herrera. Or Rooney will need to drop in to central midfield.

This is all ignoring that LVG likes to play 3 centre halves.

Which is why Everton finished 5th last year.
Mind you they've got back most of theirs for real this year. Somehow.

They almost need Blind on the left side as well for extra defence. Not sure why people stick Di Maria on the left, he was always a reverse winger on the right - where he should be playing at all times.
It's annoying how I can only see a truly full-strength squad without one of the three strikers.
Like I said, Falcao - great player, who isn't needed.

QPR have made bids for Sandro and Fabio Borini..

Burnley have signed George Boyd permanent and Chalobah on loan from Chelsea

Villa make bid for Sergio Canales...

Palace make club record bid of £7 million for James McArthie who is having a medical at the club..

The deal is permanent but due to ffp we will pay the price for him next season apparently. Good deal all in all.

Must suck to be an Arsenal fan right now.

So Michael Crappleton, a bad manager with no credibility, his master plan for 1 point so far Oxford is Emile Heskey?

What, the guy from Boro who won Britain's Got The X Talent?

LOL post edited but I cant spell the guys name!

Lewis Holtby joins Hamburg on loan for the season

Marco Van Ginkel joins AC Milan on loan for the season

Montpellier midfielder Benjamin Strambouli having medical at Spurs

Hull sign Abel Hernandez for club record fee said to be £12 million

Danny Welbeck having a medical at Arsenal...
