But if it was announed/published/released in an incomplete form, what did Fifa expect people to think?

It is beyond ridiculous. Fifa is similar to those 1970s South American dictatorships where they write the laws as they go along and messily cover up by saying everything is above board and that's it. King Josef doesn't look any stronger, but what will it take to depose him?

So let me get this right.

FIFA appointed a guy from within to investigate FIFA. Who cleared FIFA of wrong doing. The guy who was appointed by FIFA and did the investigation said the report was full of errors. So Fifa say Fifa corruptly investigated Fifa?

Did I get all that?

It's awesome.

All the FA's who called into question Blatter and the process (FA, FFA) are corrupt and damaging the game.

All the FA's who bribed their way to SWC's (Qatar, Russia) are epitomes of virtuous behaviour.

I think it was that FIFA hired an internal investigator to look at allegations of corruption in the bidding processes for the 2018/2022 World Cups. He put together his report, presented it to FIFA, who then removed anything signaling their wrongdoing, which prompted the investigator to call FIFA out on that.

The ethics committee was split into two parts; an investigatory part and an adjudicatory part.

The investigator said that as much of the report as possible should be published. The judge said no on grounds of confidentiality. But if the investigator insists that what has been published is not representative of the facts, that sounds like there is something to hide.

I don't think there was a single person who didn't think it was corrupt when Russia and Qatar came out as the winning bids.

Russia with a huge racism problem in football and Qatar with no football league and no stadiums. How they were picked with the thought there'd be no suspicion is ridiculous.

Qatar does have a football league, but being a rich Arab state with no footballing prestige, that is what arouses one's suspicions. And then just the general notion of backhanders and bribes just to sweeten a deal.

And one of the rules about hosting a FIFA World Cup is that no more than 3 of the 12 venues must be located in the same city. There'll be 6 in Doha...

I think as well that at this moment in time that not only does the stadium which will host the final not exist, the actual city where the final will be doesn't exist yet.

Having the money for projects is fine, but with no infrastructure at all how can you justify that as part of the bidding process for the world's largest sporting event? England, the United States, Mexico and Australia all have existing infrastructure which can be adapted and improved in time for a world cup. Qatar are building from scratch. It's a complete crapshoot.

I did not know this. Very surprised this hasn't been mentioned much and I would be interested to hear Fifa's take on this. "Well, the planned infrastructure means they can manage it just fine", no doubt.

And some of the others are going to be bigger than the town (I refuse to say city) they're in.

And they're spending $38bn to build a town just to put a stadium in it.

Apparently this World Cup is going to cost 60 times more than South Africa 2010. No, that's not a mistype.

It's pretty simple - if you don't provide the investigation with anything to investigate, how can they possibly find out what you've been doing wrong??

My mind --> :boggled:

South Africa and Brazil were bad enough, but these next two might see me boycotting the WC.

Oh, it gets better. The architects who have the contract for the majority of WC2022 buildings are Albert Speer & Partner.

And if you think that name sounds familiar, you'd be exactly right as to the reason why. He's famed Nazi architect Albert Speer's son. Speer was sentenced to 20 years, mostly in Spandau, for his acts - principally focussed on the use of forced labour.

Wait, where have I heard that last bit before?

Un:censored:believable.

Albert Speer Sr. and Albert Speer Jr. did not have a happy relationship, but that is an unbelievable set of circumstances.

We often talk about how F1 shouldn't get political and not not have races in places like Abu Dhabi, India and such. Does the same apply to the World Cup? How on earth can Fifa pride itself on a bent World Cup in a country with a poor human rights record and built with blood and slave labour?

Also the mere fact that the 2022 World Cup has enough controversy to warrant its own Wiki page aside from the actual competition is hilarious.

And to top the day off, Jessica Ennis has been sent several provocative tweets hoping that Ched Evans rapes her.

What a mar-ve-:censored:ing-llous world we live in.

For those who are wondering what's going on there, Sheffield United have a stand named after Jessica Ennis and she basically said that if they Evans plays for them again then she doesn't want that honour anymore and would want her name removed....police are investigating the tweet..

I don't get why Evans wants to go back to Sheffield Utd. I also don't get why Utd are possibly thinking of taking him back.

I get why he wants to get back playing as it'll be the only thing he can do, but he will always be known as "convcted rapist" no matter what he goes on to do in football.

By all accounts, he's a decent, international* footballer and what I think he should do is to go to France/Spain/Italy/Germany** etc and try to get a team there. He'll be able to get on with his life there with a touch of normality which he'll never get here.

* Before. I don't believe he should be capped for Wales again.

** And if he's worried about the language, then why not try USA or AUS.

In the UK this is a big story. I doubt it is in USA or anywhere else. Why would they care that a rapist wants to play for a 2nd league team.

Someone somewhere will offer him a deal to play. @daan has a point in that he might be better off abroad. I'm sure some of the leagues in Asia might not care about his past, maybe Qatar or India where he can make a fortune. Until people complain about that, of course.

Very bad news for United, De Gea dislocated his pinky finger on his left hand whist saving a shot in training last night with the Spain squad, he has flown home and a few sources on Twitter saying the he will be out for 4 weeks!!, nothing from United on this though..

Seriously! Him and Mata are our best players and Van Gaal keeps picking Rooney over Mata.
