what do you call "scoring loop"?
If field is "frozen", how can you "fail to mention (huh?) speed", frozen means no movement, no? I am not saying you're wrong, I'm just confused, I thought NASCAR was using camera angles at the exact time of caution to determine positions?
A scoring loop is where there is an electronic timing station built into the track. In GT6, this would be like a sector line.

The field is frozen, meaning you can't pass under normal circumstances. In this case, it looks like he got autocorrected when he meant to type "maintain speed" instead of "mention speed."

Look at the example cited earlier in the thread today from the Nationwide race at Road America. When the caution came out, Ron Fellows was in third place. He was able to pass the 2nd place car, because it failed to maintain a reasonable speed (the same rule cost Marcos Ambrose the lead to Jimmie Johnson at Sonoma a few years ago). When the leader ran out of gas, and was unable to finish the final lap, Fellows also passed him, and won the race.

When the field was frozen, he was third. But, he still won the race because others couldn't finish, even under caution on the final lap. Had the first two cars been able to roll to the finish at speed, they wouldn't have been allowed to be passed for position under caution.

That's the question. Why is it split? For all we know, it could have broken during impact, or it could have been made that way to make the car faster.

I would have made a joke about a broken car finishing well, but since only 6 cars were not involved in incidents, it doesn't mean a thing. I kind of think that they may be looking at it to find out why it broke rather than whether or not it caused a performance advantage.

Perhaps.

When they say track bar split, they don't mean that it is literally split. The "split" is the difference in height from each side, which is mandated for superspeedway races. It looks like it was mounted at an illegal angle.

Oh! Okay then.

Yeah, if he broke a track bar it would be about equivalent to breaking a shock. The car would have to go to the garage if that was the case

Split track bar is what they said, although the article mentions mounting points.

At least to me, "split track bar" and "track bar split" have two different meanings.

I'm sorry, but it's been driving me nuts. I can't for the life of me understand why Stewart is always so bitter. He blocks the field and causes a huge wreck at Talladega a few years ago. Whoopsy! He and Kenseth get together at Bristol while racing hard for the lead. Better throw your helmet! Logano blocks him for the lead on a late restart. Better go fight him after the race! Stenhouse gets a little loose (as if he meant to in Tony's eyes) and actually saves it. Gordon reacts and gets into Tony. Tony: "Well we were a quarter of a lap from a competition caution, and Stenhouse wanted to be a hero or something..." Really??

I didn't mind him when he kind of mellowed out around '05 or so. But before that, and now quite often lately, it's like he's got a stick up his rump or something.

And I'm loving every second of it!

Gordon had to react because Stenhouse getting loose caused speed to be rubbed off. It was either move and run into others, or brake and get ran over by others.

Without Stenhouse screwing up, the wreck wouldn't have happened.

Agreed. But from Tony's view, he made it sound like Stenhouse was driving like a maniac at that moment. He simply got loose. It's happened to every driver and will continue to happen.

I love that Tony, Kevin, Kurt, and Danica are all on the same team
One tells it like they see it, one hates young guns, one screams obscenities, and one can't stay away from the wall. They're a pretty diverse group of people if you ask me.

EDIT: I want to make it clear that this is solely a joke, nothing is meant to be taken seriously.

Stenhouse has a history of driving like an idiot.

BTW, off-camera, Tony said, in regards to Stenhouse, something along the lines of "I love him like a brother, but he's scary at times out there".

Stenhouse was doing some really dumb things in Nationwide too before he even started dating Danica. He's a great talent with Sprint Cup star potential (champion in the Nationwide Series) but he has to start being more conservative at times. Even Tony Stewart will bide his time if he has to, and everyone knows that he isn't exactly the most patient guy on the track.

Stenhouse crashed out of 50%+ of his races in the Nationwide Rookie Year...

And he was just all over the place today.
